A few options

I have grouped together in this review several of the small and medium size campgrounds you pass early along after starting the skyway loop trail and heading east. Make sure to check out my review of Cheaha Falls Campground where I discuss the entire loop and the best times of year to visit. Each of these sites has a fire pit and space to hang a hammock and would be perfect options for the night if you are getting a late start on the trail and need a place to stay that isn’t too far along. I gave them low ratings however since they lack several things that other campsites along the trail have. They have no view since all of these sites are before you begin the steep climb to the top of the ridge. There is also no water source for any of these campgrounds so you will have to hike in with any water that you need. Make sure to take this into account especially in low water seasons like winter cause you wont pass an area to pump water from for a good while and don’t want to get dehydrated. If you do choose to stay at one of these sites make sure to continue on the next day and check out the amazing views from the top of the ridge. Overall, the sites are nice and spacious and most likely you will have them to yourself any time of year since the sites up on top of the ridge are the first to fill up.
