      Magnolia Farms RV Park

Off the beaten path, but close to a bunch of attractions.

As a snowbird this place checked all my boxes. Its 10 miles either way between two populated cities and 20 miles to the Gulf of America. This park literally sits at the intersection of four, mile wide cotton farms on all sides, the chances of hearing traffic is slim. There is approximately 50 sites, some with concrete pads, some stone and some grass. All look to be very level since I never saw chucks under any wheels. Every site is full hookup and there is a clubhouse with a full sized kitchen and showers if you don't want to use the one in the rig. Wi-Fi is broken up into 3 zones, so you're not fighting to connect. Haleigh, the new manager, took over in November and is putting her stamp on the park. There were Christmas lights all over the clubhouse and Park wide potlucks during the holidays. Made it feel like home. There are several long term residence(longer than a snowbird) who were all very nice and welcoming. The grounds are well kept with improvements currently happening. It's a kid and pet friendly park. I will definitely be returning next winter.

      Sugar Sands RV Resort

      Our favorite Orange Beach campground

Very clean. Spacious sites with level concrete pads. Full hook ups. Only 8-10 minutes to the beach.  Very clean bath houses. Easy to navigate campground road with tons of room to back into back-in sites. Pull throughs also easily assessible. Nice pool. Check in easy and quick. Employees very friendly. Will be back next month. Camp store on site. They also have a few rental tiny houses and rv's. Trash pickup at your site each morning. Cable TV and great WIFI.

9/6/20 update: all things mostly the same, bath house closed from 8pm to 8am and WiFi not nearly as good as past visits.

      Oaklawn RV Park

      Good for a layover

The good: location was great, right off the highway and next to a Camping World, Tire center, and emergency vet. Wi-Fi worked well, park felt safe, and we were only 10 minutes from major attractions in the area. The bad: water pressure was horrible. Sites were tight and overlapping, a little uneven, and about 4 inches unlevel. This is definitely a long term campground connected to a mobile home park.

There are a few open pull throughs for transient travelers and I would recommend them as an overnight stay based on location only.

      Magnolia Farms RV Park

      Quiet, Friendly RV Park

We are fairly new to the RV life - Andy tried to help us back in, and then decided he would just do it for us. He was so helpful. Everyone has been helpful. The laundry facility has an app that lets you know when your clothes are done, so you can walk back to your camper and wait instead of sitting with it. 3 or 4 activities are planned every month. There are some permanent residents, but enough transient to feel like you are with travelers. We chose it because it was close to our daughter, but would choose it again. Monthly rate is cheaper than daily rate. There is a fire pit for everyone to share, but no fire pits or grills for individual sites. Wooden decks for each site are nice. Grassy back in and some pull through- all level. Someone is always tending to the grounds and doing maintenance on the sites. We’ll be back!

Davis Bayou Campground — Gulf Islands National Seashore

Gem on the Mississippi Gulf Coast

We really enjoyed our stay at Davis Bayou. The campground seems to be a bit dated, but we kinda enjoyed the nostalgic element this added to the vibe.

The sites vary in size, we noticed most big rigs had to park their tow vehicles or toads in the auxiliary parking. If this is a problem you may want to look at other options, as the park staff is very diligent about keeping folks off the grass.

The park staff did regular patrols though out the park. They were very friendly.

We enjoyed riding our bikes around the park and to the historic arts district in Ocean Springs. There are several restaurants and bars with live music which was fun. There are also alot of art studios to check out.

We also took our canoe all though out Davis Bayou and to the beach, which was a ton of fun. The tides are in play here, so make sure you study up as conditions can and do change rapidly.

The visitors center is definitely worth checking out and while your there make sure to check out the fishing pier.

Each site has a picnic table, fire ring, power and water.

The cost is $22 a night per site.

The bathhouses were cleaned regular and had great water pressure. The water has a bit of a smell to it.

      Verizon cell service worked okay.

      Bring bug spray.

      Sun Outdoors Orange Beach

      Lots of concrete

This is an all Inclusive RV Resort! Lots of spaces, but very few RVs when we were there. Sites are all concrete with easy access hookups. Not much shade. 2 pools, one adult only. Dog Park, laundry, tennis courts, gulf cart rental. They even have a business center. Walking trails connect to Gulf State Park. They do a lot of planned activities which can be annoying. Long term or short term sites available.

Davis Bayou Campground — Gulf Islands National Seashore

      Close to Ocean Springs, Ms.

This is a popular park during the winter months as it is a National Park. Reserve early. No wifi, no laundry but clean bathrooms and shower. Electric and water at the campsites and a dump station is available. Close to town and all the good eats. Nice clean park.

      Luxury RV Resort

      Great level spots

The park great and very easy to get into (35’ 5th wheel). It was very full while we were there but the spots were set up to feel like you still had your own space from your neighbors. Room to park 2 cars. 2 separate spots to tie into the sewer which was nice. Level concrete pads with picnic tables. Hosts where very helpful. Walking distance to the beach and restaurants. Would stay again.

      Chickasabogue Park - Temporarily Closed

      Perfect for local weekend getaway

Chickasabogue is a bit run down but it’s a great spot to get away from the bustle of daily life. There’s a sports field, water access, and several short, easy paths to hKe. It’s pet friendly and family friendly.

    Guide to Coden

Several RV parks operate near Coden, Alabama along the Gulf Coast. Bay Palms RV Resort on Dauphin Island Parkway offers full hookup sites with water and electric connections, accommodating big rigs on its gravel pads. Dockside RV Resort provides level gravel sites with full hookups including sewer connections. "Lots are gravel and level with plenty of room to park your camper and tow vehicle," noted one camper about Dockside. Homestead RV Community in nearby Theodore features large concrete pads that simplify leveling, with ample space for two vehicles alongside each RV, though their policies require all dog fencing to remain on concrete surfaces rather than grass areas.

The Dauphin Island area lies approximately 20-30 minutes from most local RV parks, offering beach access for day trips. While Bay Palms promotes a heated pool, multiple reviewers noted issues with cold shower water in facilities during their stays. Most parks in the region remain open year-round, with rates varying seasonally from $35 for basic back-in sites during winter to $55 for premium pull-through spots in summer months. Many parks provide amenities specifically for RV travelers including sanitary dump stations, dog washing facilities, and security features like gated access with cameras. Mobile phone service is generally reliable throughout the area, though WiFi quality varies significantly between parks, with some offering streaming-capable connections while others provide only basic functionality.
