You’ll find the affordable Okmulgee Campground just under 40 miles due south of Tulsa, just to the west of the town of Okmulgee. The 2 nearby lakes provide ample opportunities for boating, fishing, water sports, and wild swimming.

Hiking enthusiasts can journey on the 3½-mile trail, and those interested in US history can appreciate the area’s sandstone structures that were built in the 1930s by the CCC and WPA.

This campground takes around an hour and 15 minutes to get to by car from Tulsa, but you’ll find that the extra time spent in your vehicle is well worth it. Vibrant Dogwood trees surround Spavinaw State Park and it’s 100+ RV and tent campsites, and the nearby Lake Spavinaw is serene and calming.

Coin-operated hot showers are available on-site, along with a number of scenic picnic spots. You’ll find yourself camping alongside a clean creek where you can swim and paddle with friends and family. The nearby town of Spavinaw has some excellent barbeque restaurants.
