      Christmas Mountain Village Campground

Christmas in Summer but I think I will skip the WInter.

This is a member resort but they do allow the public in.  We went in as Coast to Coast members.  This is an all season resort it does have a ski hill and accommodations for winter.  You can buy a condo resort, Lease a Time Share, buy a camping site ( with a Park Model on it,  Camp in a Motor Home, Trailer or Tent.  You can camp with full hook ups or as they call it the Wilderness Camping, they have some with 110 hook ups.

Facilities are very nice and clean, Swimming Pool, Club House with a lot of things to do. The sites are nice and big most are either pull through or large back in sites.  They also have an 18 holes golf course, since we don't golf really don't know how it is.

They have some WIFi but it is best at the club house the hotspots worked better.

If you would like to  visit Wisconsin Dells this is a great place as it is not very far from downtown and all the activities.  We spent 2 days exploring the Dells even in rain.  Had a great time.

If you are in the area I would check it out.

      Waupun Park Campground

Waupun County Park WI - Campground

Family friendly campground, playgrounds, pickle ball court, showers, clean bathrooms, fire rings, shared water spigots & power at camp site. There is an outdoor pavilion for groups, firewood for sale at host. Lamp posts light camp road but not overwhelming. Nice shaded sites with mature white oak trees. Enjoyed and recommend if looking for full service campsite.

      Hickory Oaks Campground

      Hickory oaks

Very nice place to camp. Quite and friendly. Small but accommodates all types of campers. Has 30 and 50 Amp hookups. Tenting up to cabin, they have two. My second year long term camping here. On the edge of the city and close to everything.

      Sleepy Hollow Farms

      Convenient to the highway

General: There is both a north and a south part to this campground with a total of 178 sites. The sites in the south part are all on a grassy field and there is a small man-made lake with an inflatable play area. The sites in the north part are a mix of full hook-up and tent sites. There are also small cabins (only one of which has a bathroom) and three “condos”. These all had air-conditioners, but I did not see the inside of them. The north unit features a pond, which I was disappointed to discover was algae-filled and completely green.

Site Quality: Some are pull-through and some back-in. Some sites have electric and water hookups, some have picnic tables, and some have fire rings (but not all sites have all of these amenities). Only a handful have concrete pads; the rest are all on grass.

Our impression of Sleepy Hollow was influenced in part by the fact that it poured rain for much of our overnight stay. The roads were all dirt and with the rain, became very muddy along with the campsites as well. When leaving the next day, we had some challenges backing out of our site with the amount of mud. There is no clear delineation between the sites other than where the electric and water hookups are placed.

Bathhouse: Was very clean (in both the north and south units of the campground). Showers are available for a fee (five minutes for$1.00) but we did not use them so cannot comment on how well they worked.

Activities/Amenities: In the south unit, there is a small manmade lake with an inflatable play structure and plenty of life jackets. The color is a beautiful Caribbean blue, but it did not look natural, and I was not sure of the source of the color. We were there on a weekday in September, and no one was using the lake. There is a small bar and grill (in the north section) and a concession (south unit) on-site, but both were closed when we were there. Firewood was available (15 pieces for $10); we asked and were granted permission to use the golf cart to bring the wood to our site. Other than the lake, there really is nothing offered for recreation.

We chose this campground for its location; it is very close to Highway 41 in Oshkosh (you will hear road noise) and we were meeting family there. We checked in online the day before and arrived at 3:30 pm. No one was in the office when we arrived but the family members we were meeting had arranged for us to camp in the site next to them (not the original one we had selected). This campground is VERY close to EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association), and I imagine it would be completely full during the annual EAA convention. For us, it was a convenient location but aside from spending time with our family, the reason we chose this campground.

Fox Hill RV Park & Campground

Good mix of rv and nature

We visited for opening weekend during COVID-19, so the park was quiet but open. The staff and owners here were very friendly and extremely helpful when we ran into some snags with setting up camp. We were able to check in online and drive right to our campsite, to get our enjoyment started right away. Our spot, F-2, was right across from the playground and great for my kiddo. Only neighbors to the sides and woods behind. This park has some nature trails, disc golf, and a good size dog run. It’s well kept and maintained. All site are pretty level with gravel pad and logically positioned utilities. The tent loop is more remote, but not a far walk from the park and pool. Pool wasn’t open yet this early in season. We enjoyed our peaceful stay and even booked for Memorial Day weekend as other campgrounds are closed and cancelling reservations. We are happy to have our social distanced camping experience and we’re very happy with Fox Hill. Can’t wait to come back when summer is in full swing! Compared to other campgrounds in the Dells, the price is reasonable for full hookups. It’s also really close to Devils Lake and Mirror State Park, so a perfect spot to have excellent hiking opportunities nearby and be able to quickly access all the yahoo craziness of the Dells area if you need an Olde Time Photo or a water skiing show. If you golf, there’s a 9 hole course next door that is easy to walk to.

      Nice park

Nice spacious sites. Some are blacktop. 30-50 amp electrical. No sewer or water at sites but dump station and drinking water is available. Some waterfront sites on lake Wazeecha. Great hiking and biking trails. Self serve firewood available. Lake has water ski shows in the summer. Price $20 -$28.

Ice Age Campground — Devils Lake State Park

      Winter Beauty Beyond

We’ve been here multiple times but winter is truly our favorite, ice fishing, snowshoeing etc. The state park is busy in summer but not much in winter.. tons of opportunities in warmer weather which equates to the popularity. The views are fantastic and it’s family friendly. Camping was quiet and you can camp by the lake or further from the lake in the woods. Worthy of multiple returns.

      Wisconsin Dells KOA

Close to the Dells action but jam packed in summer

Camping the in Wisconsin Dells area is always a challenge because there are such big crowds in the summer heading to the waterparks. If you are looking to stay in your camper while enjoying the Wisconsin Dells tourism, this KOA is fine. The lots are very small, but overall paved and level so you will have a quick set up. You are on top of your neighbor and your fire pit is close (too close) to all your stuff. There is a pool, but is was crazy crowded with obnoxious campers. If you have a camper (travel trailer, motorhome, pop-up) you should have everything you need for an in-town stay at the Dells. If you're in a tent, I wouldn't chose this campground and would stay further away from the main strip.

Site terrain variations: Campsite leveling requirements vary significantly across facilities. One camper at Fox Hill RV Park reported: "Our site was very unlevel side to side. The race ended at 11 and we had no problem sleeping."

Check swimming options: Facilities with multiple water recreation areas accommodate different swimming preferences and abilities. A Lake of the Woods Campground visitor shared: "Nice shady sites, very family oriented a lot of stuff for kids to do, planned events every weekend. Bar has great food. A Yukon Trails visitor appreciated that "They delivered our dinner, ice, and wood to our site at no extra charge," making the camping experience more convenient for those with limited mobility or transportation.
