Well Maintained

The campsite was well maintained and spacious enough for two tents if you need them. I got a site in the electric loop (Cedar) and the outlet was right on the other side of our tent (directly across the lot from the picnic table).

This loop does have some elevation, which I didn't know when…

Staff could care less...

Narrow unlevel sites and sewage runs up hill. The staff tried to convince us that a 45' site was 60', which would not fit our 43' rig. Staff actually suggested another campground when we complained.

Great for kids

This was a great place for kids. We came here late Sept. and they were already celebrating Halloween. I think they do trick or treating every Saturday through October. Great atmosphere. It was crowded on Saturday but almost empty on Sunday afternoon.

Very close to Lurray Caverns. Kids…

Off the grid

Great off the grid experience. Showers were hot. Toilets are a porta potty type. Great for a weekend away from all the hustle and bustle. Very relaxing

5-star service

This campground has 5-star service, which is good to know before you pay the premium price for the sites which really are standard 4-star campsites. Our mode of camping: a campervan. Reason for staying: to be stationary for a few days.

Gorgeous and quiet spot along the Shenandoah River

Normally we’re tent campers, but this time we opted for the climate controlled cabins of this state park. Cabins were wonderful. Essentially a little house off in its own little “cabin neighborhood.” Kitchen was fully stocked with just about anything you’d need. Only thing you need to bring are…

Primitive camping

The hard thing about this place is you have to park on the road and haul all of your stuff across the field and over the fence so it’s not exactly easy to get all of your equipment at the campsite. Also there is a Amtrak main line, about 3 miles north river, and all through the night it was train…

Trashy and Run Down

We stayed in a Potomac river view site with water and electric hookups for our 17' Jayco hybrid. The river view was nice, but we were packed in with our neighbors like sardines and no shade. The road into the campground was badly in need of repair. Site was not level and infested with black flies.…

⬆️💲

I only called to inquire about the cost. Passing through and needed a spot to decompress for a few days. I was told it was $40 a night for a tent site for one person. The guy who answered was super nice but I thought that was really steep. Didn't see cost info anywhere online so thought this might…

Nice place but very noisy.

Loved the grounds, facilities were well maintained and clean. Sites were a bit close and not level. Would go back again except for the non stop noise from the interstate which kept us up all night.

Tough night

It was raining… HEAVY… but that aside, it is a great little area along the river. You really need to be proficient at backing the RV into tight spaces… there is not a lot of room. There is a bizarre amount of traffic at the camp site, maybe due to the zip line adventures. It makes maneuvering…

Great stop for an overnight.

Well groomed sites split into three main sections. Several hammock friendly (we were in 121 in the dogwood loop). Flat motorcycle parking, but bring a puck for your kick stand. Firewood and ice for sale at the check-in point. Quiet with modern bathrooms. Drinking water available. Fire pits have…

Kinda pricey but SO WORTH IT

They have so many activities for the kids! The sites are mostly a comfortable size.

Not bad/Not great

Just a campground. Our site wasn’t tight to get in. Actually pretty spacious. Hookups are convenient and the site is pretty level. Overall, it’s just a campground. It’s close to our home, about 30 minutes away so more or less it’s just a close getaway for our family.

Trains, trains, trains. And a river

Boy oh boy. Where to begin. Trains. Literally every half hour a train goes right behind the campground, waking everybody up. If you're in a tent, that's not so great. Also theres a one way tunnel to get to the campground, and all these cars seem to thinks its really necessary to honk at least five…
