Best Dog-Friendly Camping near Harker Heights, TX

Dana Peak on Stillhouse Hollow Lake offers multiple pet-friendly camping areas with full hookups for RVs and tent camping options along the shoreline. The lakeside campsites provide direct water access where pets can enjoy swimming in crystal clear water with a rocky bottom. All sites include covered picnic tables with ample space around them. ['The campground's open season runs from early March through September with consistent maintenance of clean facilities.'] Union Grove Park and Cedar Ridge Park also welcome pets with similar amenities including water and electric hookups, restrooms, and lakeside locations.

Stillhouse Hollow Lake's hiking trails accommodate pets on leashes, with Dana Peak featuring several miles of mountain bike and hiking paths suitable for dogs. The campgrounds maintain large grassy areas between campsites providing room for pet exercise, though visitors should note the lack of shade in summer months can affect pets as much as humans. Weather conditions impact the camping experience significantly, with strong winds sometimes making tent camping challenging. All pets must remain on leash throughout the parks, and owners should bring supplies as the nearest pet stores are in Killeen or Temple. The Corps of Engineers parks maintain clean facilities but do not offer specialized pet amenities like dedicated dog parks or washing stations.

    Berry Springs Park & Preserve

    Hidden gem near Austin

Nice park and campground very near Georgetown, Texas. Berry Springs is a local county park and preserve. The Park is located just north of Georgetown Texas about 1 mile off Interstate 35 the main highway between Dallas and Austin. It’s a Great location with loads of open space. They have basic sites with covered picnic tables, fire rings, and hooks for hanging items. The former ranch has a lot of history dating back to the Texas Pioneer days. The park is located next to clear spring fed river for swimming and fishing. This may be a great option for those looking for a location close to Austin or a local family weekend. The camp was nearly empty in October this year which is the peak season for camping in Texas. The sites are best suited for tent camper, vans, and smaller trailers.

    Retreat at 971 RV Park

    Great RV Park!

Great RV Park with plenty of parking spots and plenty of room in between campers. It’s gravel with grass lawns that they keep up very well and concrete patios for camper steps. It has satellite and WiFi for each camp spot. The office is really nice it has a store, laundry mat, bathrooms and showers. There is a dog park, swimming pool, horseshoe pits and playground for the kids. And the whole park is fenced in and gated at the entrance. Just check out their website for pics!

    Belton RV Park

    Just off the highway...

It’s a place to rest your head and wash your clothes. The pool and dog park are excellent additions and I really enjoyed that!

    Jellystone Park™ Austin North

    Beautiful Resort

Beautiful flat paved resort with tiny home community, convenience store in the office, heated pool, large clean newly renovated shower rooms, laundry, beautiful fitness center with modern equipment. They also just opened up a lazy river with water Park features like a water slide and splash machines, and just last week they started putting up a giant stone tumbler for kids. Multiple dog parks and a nice large playground. I've been to RV parks and resorts all across the country this reminds me of the expensive resorts in Vegas for literally a third the cost. The wind in Texas is brutal but you'll probably find that anywhere. Great place, great people.
