Our favorite camp in our area.

We have been camping here for years. We love going to the observatory at night. The tent sites are spacious with giant oaks for shade. A lot of sites with lake access.

Campground in Nature with all the benefits of Full Hookups

If your ideal is to be surrounded by nature, but also want all the amenities that an RV with full hookups can afford, than this should be on your list. Well spaced campgrounds in the Hill Country oaks, walking paths through to woods to the lake, it really has it all. Very quiet and a place to get away, but take all the necessary stuff with you

Great Family Spot

This is an amazing spot for a family trip. We stayed in February 2021 for 6 nights in site 13 on the RV Loop. Access to the lake from the site (short walk), wooded area that blocks the wind but you get sun during the day. It was completely full on the weekend days (in February) but almost empty weekdays.

The resort is beautiful, we only walked up once to check it out but they have a lookout area and restaurant and bar (limited hours during off season) but beautiful patios with fire pits and sitting areas to watch the sunset over lake Buchanan. Small camp shop was open, pricey ($12 for 3 pieces of campfire wood), but I get it pay more if you don’t want to drive the 30 minutes to the closest place.

Beautiful trails that are easy to walk and bike for all ages. We got to see some wildlife (deer, armadillo, raccoon, etc).

I would definitely return if we came back this way.

Great spot!

Nice family place with friendly staff and many things to do. The birding is great, and the lake is beautiful unless there has been a significant drought (we are talking Texas here). The hiking trails are really nice, but may close from March-August for endangered bird nesting season.

Peaceful Setting

Canyon of the Eagles is a beautiful preserve with many available activities....hiking, biking, kayaking, bird watching, & star gazing to name a few. We stayed in the RV loop and the sites were mostly level with hookups and privacy. The sites were mostly shaded and generously spaced. The bathroom was nearby with small, individual rooms each with shower, toilet and sink. Check in was easy and the staff was friendly. A great place to get away!

Wonderful Weekend

If it’s family time you are searching for or just somewhere to get away. This is a good place to go. Although some tent sites had views of their neighbors, they were still far enough apart to have privacy and they were very well kept up with and clean. The port a potties were not very clean but the bathrooms and showers were very clean and private. The view of the wildflowers was amazing, the lake was refreshing and we got to see a Bald Eagle along with the Golden Cheek Warbler and Black Vireo! Plus we were able to enjoy the dark sky at their observatory and then from our tent!

Clean and great fishing

We loved camping here. We were in primitive camping; there are so many amenities here we were very comfortable. Got to fish right out of our camping spot. The bluebonnets are amazing too!

A great group recreational campground for everyone.

This campground had all types of camping, from family style tent sites, group campground, an RV park, and for the glampers a nice resort all on the same property. We took our Girl Scout troop and did a family end of year campout with a lot of first time campers. There was an outdoor movie and s'mores night. They have a professional observatory with two telescopes and an astronomer giving lessons. We are now considering trying to plan a stargazing sleepover. The naturalist on staff gave fishing lessons to the kids, had a craft for them to do and talked about the native flowers. We were able to rent kayaks to take out into the lake. The lake was gorgeous. The bonus for everyone was the naturalist who had the reptile exhibit. Watching them handle the snakes was a fun way to learn which ones were safe and which ones to avoid. The girls are already asking to camp here in the fall and learn some more about camping.

Wonderful park!

We had a large campsite that fit two large tents and 3 hammocks. The hiking was great and this place was very family friendly. You can also stay at the resort but we camped. The bathroom facilities were clean and well stocked. There was a nice lake with kayaks to rent and a sandy beach for the kiddos to play. The gift shop has a small restaurant and was stocked with many souvenirs and camping essentials. We made the choice to stay here over Memorial day weekend because we couldn't find anywhere else at the last minute. I am so glad we did because we will definitely go back. This place was gorgeous!
