    The Retreat at Shady Creek

    Awesome RV resort in town

We normally don't do RV resorts, but this one is awesome. The sites are fairly spacious, especially compared to other RV resorts. Big rig friendly with many different style spots to choose from. We always choose the fence line back in sites, and they always come with plenty of grass to walk the dogs. The fence backs up to residential, but that doesn't bother us. Even the back in sites are plenty spacious for a big rig and your tow vehicle and another vehicle. The park is very roomy and easy to navigate and park.

The staff are always so nice and they make late check in a breeze, which we appreciate after a long, tiring day of towing. This RV resort is the only place we've ever stayed in that allows RV washing! For full-time RVers, that's pretty huge. They also have a mail room if you need to receive a package on the road.

The resort is split up into two areas by the road, the Retreat area is more resort like and caters to short term stays, while the other half has long term stays. They both look nice and are clean and beautiful. We will continue to visit every time we pass through the area.

    Lake Park Campground

    Nice Place

This place is well-maintained and a fairly nice park. Family friendly and there is a lake and playground within walking distance. The staff is courteous. We did not use any of the facilities, except dump station.

There are specific sites for 30 and 50. The middle spaces for 30 amp have no shade. For 50 amp avoid sites 59-63, 0 shade. There are no sewer hookups at the site. Only dumping station.

Reservations is done by calling the park, no online.

    Traders Village RV Park

    Clean and big

We stayed 4 nights in site 24, PT FHU on a level concrete pad with a picnic table and plot of grass. $40/ni after Good Sam. The park is split into two sections; the side we are in is next to an airfield and the other side is by a small dog run (next time, I'll request this section bc I'm traveling with my dogs). They have a store and the laundry is clean and well priced ($1.25/wash, $0.25/12 min dry). The wifi is strong and the park is quiet. There are some long term, possibly permanent, tenants, but their sites are well kept.

    The Vineyards Campground & Cabins

    Very nice

Our site had a concrete pad for our rv. Full hookups are very nice. While we were here nightly thunderstorms came in. The staff were on top of it as they drove around alerting everyone about the wind approaching. Clean laundry room and restrooms. We didn’t use the store due to corona fears and didn’t need to. Pet friendly. Quiet at night. I would absolutely stay here and recommend it to anyone. The only spring time issue is lake flooding will close it.

Guide to Frisco

RV parks around Frisco, Texas offer diverse camping options within 30-45 minutes of the city. Most campgrounds in this North Texas region feature level sites with gravel pads and full hookups. Summer temperatures regularly exceed 95°F between June and September, while spring and fall provide milder camping conditions with temperatures between 65-85°F.

What to do

Water recreation access: Wagon Master RV Park and Alpaca Farm near Sanger provides a convenient base for Lake Ray Roberts activities, approximately 15 minutes from boat ramps. "The grounds are very well kept and decorated with Texas charm. The office is well lit with bistro lights after dark, for late arrivals," notes camper Kelsey G.

Visit unique local attractions: Several campgrounds offer on-site features beyond typical amenities. Wagon Master includes alpacas on the property, while other parks provide easy access to Frisco's sports venues. As Jackie M. mentions, "Absolutely loved the property! Great pool and club house. The staff were really friendly and helpful."

Local dining options: Multiple RV parks position campers near distinctive local restaurants. Robert G. recommends from his stay at Wagon Master: "Eat at Babes in Sanger." Other campers mention the convenience of dining options in surrounding communities like Denton, Roanoke, and Pilot Point.

What campers like

Spacious sites with privacy: Waggin Tail Ranch RV Park in Pilot Point features fenced sites for added privacy. Jamie S. reports, "Nice sites most are fenced in with big yards. A few pull thru sites unfenced. The long term sites are well maintained, the staff do a great job of keeping the place nice."

Pet amenities: Several parks cater specifically to pet owners with designated areas. Waggin Tail Ranch includes "a nice big dog park with a pond, also a grooming and dog wash area," according to Jamie S., making it particularly appealing for travelers with pets.

Laundry facilities: Clean, functional laundry rooms receive frequent positive mentions. At Lafon's RV Park, Mic R. notes the "Nice laundry room with everything that works great," while other parks offer varying laundry options including app-based payment systems that eliminate the need for coins.

What you should know

Connectivity issues: While most parks advertise WiFi, quality varies significantly. At Lafon's RV Park, Mic R. reports "The Wi-Fi was not good that would be my only complaint," a common theme across several campgrounds. Cell service generally remains strong for major carriers.

Monthly vs. nightly stays: Some RV parks near Frisco primarily accommodate longer-term guests. When attempting to book at Destiny Dallas RV Resort, one camper discovered "they are a monthly only park," while others may prioritize extended-stay campers during peak seasons.

Weather considerations: The North Texas climate creates specific camping challenges. Parks with better drainage become important during rainy periods. As Bobbie S. notes at Patriot RV Park, "We were in the top part of the campground and had no issues with it being real wet. Have heard that the lower area does have pooling of water with heavy rain."

Tips for camping with families

Pool availability: Several parks feature swimming pools that provide relief during hot Texas summers. Patriot RV Park offers a "saltwater pool" according to Bobbie S., while other facilities maintain standard pools with varying seasonal availability.

Park rules vary: Family-friendly policies differ between campgrounds. Sugar Hill RV Resort has a quieter atmosphere as Brady J. notes: "Lots of long timers, makes for a quieter vibe." This contrasts with more activity-focused parks that may appeal to families with children.

Playground options: Limited parks include dedicated children's play areas. Pedro C. observed during his stay for a family reunion that some parks have playgrounds that "looked great from a distance," though availability of these amenities isn't universal across all RV parks near Frisco.

Tips from RVers

Accessibility for large rigs: Most RV parks accommodate larger motorhomes, but site dimensions vary. At Good Shepherd RV Park & Storage, Dick M. appreciates the "Wide gravel sites, wide enough to put out the mat and still park the truck next to that," offering more space than typical in the region.

Reservations essential: Advance booking becomes critical during racing events at Texas Motor Speedway or sports tournaments in Frisco. As one camper attempting to book at Sugar Hill RV Resort discovered, "They finally answered only to be told they were full," highlighting the importance of securing sites well in advance.

Shower and bathroom quality: Facility conditions receive consistent mention in reviews. Dick M. notes at Good Shepherd that "Showers and bathrooms are new and very clean," though quality varies significantly between parks, with some offering more limited facilities than others.
