Best RV Parks & Resorts near Fort Worth, TX

Fort Worth RV parks range from suburban to lakeside settings with varied hookup configurations. Treetops RV Resort in Arlington provides full-service concrete sites with 50-amp electrical connections, water, and sewer hookups in a tree-filled environment. "The sites are level and easy to get into. The manager was really nice. Electrical, water, and sewer worked well," according to feedback from a guest staying at one of the parks. Cowtown RV Park in Aledo offers big-rig friendly sites with 50-amp service, while Northlake Village RV Park features 177 sites with both 30-amp and 50-amp capabilities for motorhomes of various sizes. Pull-through spots are available at several locations, with Lake Life RV Resort being notably compact with just seven sites.

Many parks in the DFW metroplex require advance reservations, particularly during event weekends at nearby sports venues. Most facilities operate year-round with shower houses, laundry facilities, and trash service, though amenities vary significantly between locations. Sanitary dump stations can be found at Treetops, Cowtown, and several other parks throughout the region. Road access typically involves frontage roads with Cowtown RV Park situated directly off I-20. Pet policies generally permit dogs with some parks featuring dedicated dog areas. Cell service remains consistent throughout the metropolitan area, though WiFi quality varies substantially. A recent review noted that at Northlake Village, "the WiFi service we were given to connect to is not the one that long term renters get to use," suggesting connectivity challenges for short-term visitors.

    The Retreat at Shady Creek

    Awesome RV resort in town

We normally don't do RV resorts, but this one is awesome. The sites are fairly spacious, especially compared to other RV resorts. Big rig friendly with many different style spots to choose from. We always choose the fence line back in sites, and they always come with plenty of grass to walk the dogs. The fence backs up to residential, but that doesn't bother us. Even the back in sites are plenty spacious for a big rig and your tow vehicle and another vehicle. The park is very roomy and easy to navigate and park.

The staff are always so nice and they make late check in a breeze, which we appreciate after a long, tiring day of towing. This RV resort is the only place we've ever stayed in that allows RV washing! For full-time RVers, that's pretty huge. They also have a mail room if you need to receive a package on the road.

The resort is split up into two areas by the road, the Retreat area is more resort like and caters to short term stays, while the other half has long term stays. They both look nice and are clean and beautiful. We will continue to visit every time we pass through the area.

    A Plus RV Park

    Friendly Staff, Easy Highway Access

I have seen this place a million times living in the community nearby and never thought to check to see if they all tent campers. I was shocked to find out they do accommodate them so I passed through and checked out the grounds and wanted to let people know it exists!

There are two entries at the front of the property each easily accessed from the highway. Though they are gravel they are easy to navigate but do hold a little water in the rain. As you drive into the camp there are 4 main rows of camping, mostly in use by RVs however they do also accommodate tent campers. These sites can be picked up nightly or for more long term use so many people at this park have called this their home for a bit. Despite obvious signs of the long term dwellers, the grounds are clean and well maintained and don't look cluttered like some long term campgrounds will begin to look.

The site offers nice restrooms with showers, a bbq for general use, a rec room perfect for having your breakfast or dinner or perhaps a game of cards with friends and has connections for RVs up to 50 amp as well as a dump station.

For the tent camper sites are wide enough to be comfortable to move around and have scattered picnic tables. The tent camping sites are located on a grassy area next to the pond so they are not squished between big rigs and have a bit more privacy.

This site might not look as elaborate as some, but it more than makes up for the few things you do not have by its friendly staff and on site mechanic.

    TIPS:

    • Call in advance if looking for an RV site, they do have several spaces available but during certain times of the year they do fill up as they are centrally located to many things.

    • Check out the LBJ Grasslands which are nearby when visiting this location, a great get away for some outdoor activities.

    Lake Park Campground

    Nice Place

This place is well-maintained and a fairly nice park. Family friendly and there is a lake and playground within walking distance. The staff is courteous. We did not use any of the facilities, except dump station.

There are specific sites for 30 and 50. The middle spaces for 30 amp have no shade. For 50 amp avoid sites 59-63, 0 shade. There are no sewer hookups at the site. Only dumping station.

Reservations is done by calling the park, no online.

    Holiday Park Campground

Hard to Believe You’re Next to a Big City

When we got to Benbrook, we used the campground(CG) website instructions as we didn’t see any signage for the CG on US377 coming in from the east. We turned right onto Pearl Ranch Rd and followed it to the Holiday COE entrance about 2 miles straight down the road. Check in was easy and the guy who checked us in was very informative. We needed to fill our freshwater tank and he pointed out on the map the two dump stations with potable water. We proceeded to the dump station just inside the gate to find out there was not a potable water spigot just the usual rinse hose. We went back to the entrance and he informed us the park ranger had told him they are on well water and thus the water at the dump station was safe, even though there was a sign clearly stating it was not safe to drink. We were then told we could go to an empty camp site that had water hook-ups and fill up there, which we did. Not sure what we would have done if this had been a busy weekend with all of the water sites full. We then proceeded to pull through site 72 with 30/50 AMP. There was plenty of space for our 39’ fifth wheel and F-450 on the asphalt pad. The site had a covered cement patio with picnic table, and bbq/fire pit that we couldn't use due to a burn ban. Site 73 was the only other site in our little cul-de-sac. For the intent of this review, we toured the campground specifically looking for free standing water spigots, but didn't find any. The showers/restroom were old but in workable shape. If you want to stay where we did in sites 72-75 they were definitely electric only, contrary to what other reviews mentioned. There were water spigots at the sites but they had been capped off. Sites 76, 77,& 78 were also electric only and sat up on a hill with a slight lake view but are across the street from a neighborhood that backs up to the park. Sites 83- 93 had water and electric as well as some of the sites near the front of the park. We got 3 bars on Verizon and a whole bunch of OTA channels. We enjoyed the view of the lake and privacy at our site since we were the only ones there the whole time of our stay during the week.

Clean restroom and shower (1 stall), pet friendly and beautiful pool/ hot tub. Right across the street from Dinosaur World (which our 2 year old loved) and outside the gates of Dinosaur Valley State Park. Will definitely be back.

    Traders Village RV Park

    Clean and big

We stayed 4 nights in site 24, PT FHU on a level concrete pad with a picnic table and plot of grass. $40/ni after Good Sam. The park is split into two sections; the side we are in is next to an airfield and the other side is by a small dog run (next time, I'll request this section bc I'm traveling with my dogs). They have a store and the laundry is clean and well priced ($1.25/wash, $0.25/12 min dry). The wifi is strong and the park is quiet. There are some long term, possibly permanent, tenants, but their sites are well kept.

Guide to Fort Worth

Fort Worth RV parks offer diverse options for motorhome enthusiasts seeking accommodation in north-central Texas. Located in the prairie region where temperatures regularly exceed 90°F during summer months, these facilities provide essential amenities for RVers while maintaining access to both urban attractions and regional outdoor recreation. Concrete pads with full hookups are standard at most parks, with varying degrees of shade protection from the intense Texas sun.

What to do

Lake activities at Eagle Mountain Lake: Located near Lake Life RV Resort, the lake offers swimming, fishing, and boating opportunities. "Great spot conveniently located walking distance from Eagle Mountain Lake. Across the street from a convenience store with food kitchen," notes a camper who appreciated the accessibility.

Shopping at Traders Village: The massive flea market at Traders Village runs weekends and features hundreds of vendors. A visitor observed, "Has all your needs for as long of a stay you ever need... one of the biggest flea markets around and it's 2 days of walking and shopping."

Sporting events access: RV parks provide convenient bases for attending Dallas Cowboys football and Texas Rangers baseball games. A Treetops visitor noted, "Cowboys football and Rangers baseball only a few miles away, plus 6 Flags amusement park."

What campers like

Mature trees and shade: Many campers appreciate parks with established tree cover. At Treetops RV Resort, a guest commented, "The trees are beautiful and add great shade. Most of spaces are pull through and very easy to setup at."

Clean facilities: Well-maintained bathhouses and laundry rooms rank high in camper feedback. A visitor to Cowtown remarked, "The facility is a bit dated, reminds me of the parks my family traveled to when I was a kid, but clean and accommodating."

Swimming pools: During hot Texas days, pools provide welcome relief. "We had the pleasure to stay there during a time to celebrate our friends life. The people that worked there were very friendly and always asked if there was anything they could do," shared a guest about the pool amenities at Treetops.

What you should know

Variable WiFi quality: Internet connectivity remains inconsistent at many Fort Worth area parks. A visitor to Northlake Village RV Park noted, "it was disappointing to discover that the FREE WiFi didn't work... I have a sneaky suspicion that the WiFi service we were given to connect to is not the one that long term renters get to use."

Reservation timing: Parks fill quickly during events and high season (March-October). One camper advised, "We stayed for a week while waiting for our house to close in late March of 2020. The office staff was taking Covid very serious as it was just being ramped up to Pandemic status."

Noise considerations: Some parks experience flight patterns or road noise. At Settlers Haven, a reviewer noted, "Near Lockheed Airforce Base so planes flying over."

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Select parks with dedicated play areas for children. At Treetops, a family mentioned, "We had a fire pit and picnic table. The bath houses are nice and private... My boys jumped in the pool even though it was 55* outside and said it was a fun experience."

Shopping proximity: Parks near retail areas simplify family logistics. A Treetops visitor shared, "Easy access to Target just around the corner, Parks mall is close by and Arlington Highlands shopping is really nice!"

Dog-friendly areas: Families with pets benefit from dedicated exercise spaces. One camper at Cowtown RV Park appreciated the "several small fenced dog parks" available for their pets.

Tips from RVers

Level site selection: Concrete pads minimize setup time. A Cowtown visitor noted, "The slips themselves were concrete and for the most part level. It took us no time to level and have our RV ready to use."

Park location considerations: Some parks serve better as basecamps than destinations. A guest at Settlers Haven Mobile Home & RV Park advised, "This is not a place to chill in to relax and 'camp'. It's perfect if you want to visit friends and will be out most of the time. It's also a great place to use as a home base to tour Dallas/Ft. Worth."

Advance planning: Many parks offer escort service to sites. "The staff was nice, friendly and helped us back in as we are still newbies," reported a Treetops camper who appreciated the additional assistance.
