Best Dog-Friendly Camping near Frisco, TX

Boyd is a true Texas small town with a pleasant hometown strip just up the road from Boyd RV Park. The small park boasts showers, a pets area, and a back area with nice country views and fields. The dog park has a good amount of space and is the nicest part of the park for stretching your legs.

It does not have a crowded vibe, and has everything to meet the basic needs of the RV or camper campers and then some. Prices are some of the best around, and if you need supplies or places to dine out, it is all a short walk away.

We traveled from West Texas, stayed 4 nights, had rain almost every day. The park is well laid out, small clean well maintained yards. The paved road was beginning to break up from all the rain with pot holes and new ones beginning to pop up. The pads are gravel and almost level. A few guests have been here a while, did see several arrivals and departures. Pet friendly, keep an eye on your pooch as one morning a large dog broke his/her leash one morning and attacked a lady's dog and knocked her down. She was not injured and her doggie is ok. We did not make it to the pool, the patio or to the dog park. All looked great from a distance. Verizon, full bars of service! 🙂

Place not too bad. Really is just a big parking lot. Parking spots are level and have full hookups. Very nice dog park next door. Eileen helped me on phone. Was very nice. Her number is 817-609-9509. Good for an overnight stop. Near Lockheed Airforce Base so planes flying over.

The sites are level and easy to get into. The manager was really nice. Electrical, water, and sewer worked well. The dog park next door is nice. This is a mixed use RV / Full timer place. It was safe and quiet. This is not a place to chill in to relax and “camp”. It’s perfect if you want to visit friends and will be out most of the time. It’s also a great place to use as a home base to tour Dallas/ Ft. Worth.

WARNING: NO BATHROOMS, NO SHOWERS. Quiet park with easy access to Dallas. Nice dog walking area and dog park. Full hookups. I get that RVs have bathrooms and most have showers, but never in all my years have I been to a park with no bathrooms or showers. Based on the reviews of others a year or more ago I would have to assume there are no plans for any in the future. As long as you know this in advance and are OK with it, you'll be satisfied here. For me,$36, 2 1/2 hours of an afternoon and a trip to Loves for a 2 showers and all was good but I'd have planned differently had I known.

Nice hard sites all with 20/30/50a, cable TV, and full hookups. There are 4 washer and dryers and showers for all 124 spots. So it’s iffy getting one - no place to hang your clothing in the bathrooms and or wash area. The bugs are bad here, we had ants in our trailer and lots of bites. When it rains stay on the pavement as the mud is nasty and gumbo. The road is very loud and there are train tracks with train horns blaring all night long - make sure your bedroom faces away from the road for the best sleep. The people are very friendly and responsive - while we were there the internet and water was off a lot. Management is not on site and so lots of things were going on at night. No security or patrols. Over all I would stay again for a short stay to visit family, but $55-65 a night was pretty high considering there is zero to do here , no pool, no meeting rooms, no grass to walk on. Two dog parks and one small play ground for kids.

Absolutely loved the property! Great pool and club house. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Also loved that they are pet friendly!

Everything says "Pet Friendly" , however when we tried to book a spot for a month they said I couldn't bring my Great Dane puppy bc of the breed and insurance. Do not recommend if you have a gentle giant, such my service Dane.

We spent an entire month, as we typically do, in Bluebonnet Ridge RV Park in Terrell, Texas. There is a lot to really like about this campground. We would definitely stay here again.

Pros:

• The park was clearly being maintained

• The basketball /tennis courts had just been resurfaced

• Anytime someone left, or a spot was empty, new gravel was being dumped and leveled

• Even though closed for Covid, the pool was cleaned daily.

• There's a small dog park area.

• Doggie bags were provided in multiple places, and ample trash cans in which to drop them.

• Sufficient WiFi repeaters throughout the CG

• The grass is kept mowed down, good to avoid those Texas stickers getting in your shoelaces.

• All but one staff member was really friendly.

• Package receiving was well handled and painless.

• Each visitor, even short term like us, gets a mailbox. You can go in 24/7 and check it.

• There's a "swap area" where people leave magazines, etc. (Near the mailboxes.)

• There's a nice little pond you can fish in, catch-and-release only, no license required.

• LOTS of room to walk the dog!

• There's ample overflow parking and trailer storage space so you don't have to crowd your campsite.

• Laundry facility on site, we didn't utilize it since we have a W/D in the rig.

• Bulletin board for posting things, we bought our W/D from another person at the campsite!

• Park was pretty quiet while we were there. No ruckus or loud people. Folks walked around, talked a bit.

• They have Good Sam and Passport American discounts available.

Cons:

• You're really close to I-20, you will hear the road noise. Only trucks are loud. (We did hear a blowout, scared me to death!)
• The WiFi, while available, is really slow. When you connect, they track usage by hardware MAC address. Use too much, you get blocked and have to ask to be allowed back on.* There are some boggy areas you have to watch for near the pond. (Don't step on the thousands of crawfish towers!)
• The road is in fairly bad shape, leading into the park. They could really use a road company out there to fix it.
• There are some rigs that appear more"permanent" with stairs, patio furniture, that sort of thing. But none were run-down looking.
• When it rains, some of the driveways do get muddy.  The gravel replacement helps.

Other:

• There are a LOT of Tiny Houses that have been put on the property. They all looks really new, well maintained.
• The staff appears to reserve some spots near the front for folks coming in for a day or two to a week.  It was NOT all permanents by any means.

Our site had a concrete pad for our rv. Full hookups are very nice. While we were here nightly thunderstorms came in. The staff were on top of it as they drove around alerting everyone about the wind approaching. Clean laundry room and restrooms. We didn’t use the store due to corona fears and didn’t need to. Pet friendly. Quiet at night. I would absolutely stay here and recommend it to anyone. The only spring time issue is lake flooding will close it.

I've been camping here plenty of times as a kid growing up in Cedar Hill, TX. My family and I would camp in the spring, early/late summer, and fall months. Plenty of sites have a campfire grill and picnic table along with electrical outlets. Good camping sites for "glampers" who have to have Internet access and electronic use. Finding/reserving a campsite is super easy at the welcome center where you pay an entrance fee to the park. Plenty of lake to share with other people at this state park. My brother would go fishing at the smaller ponds here. At some campsites, you can here the traffic passing by on FM 1382, but if you can sleep through that noise, you'll be fine. Plenty of hiking/biking trails as well. Great to bring pets. Bathrooms are available as well near many of the campgrounds.

Stayed here as a group traveling to the Frisco, Texas area for a college football game. We spent 2 nights in a RV. Was within close distance to where we were attending the football game. We stayed in the off season (winter months) and met our needs. Note, we were basically looking for a place to park the RV to sleep and spend the night while in the area and didn't want to stay in a Walmart parking lot. Didn't utilize the lake but looks like a nice man made lake. Would stay again if in the area.

Great experience so far. The laundry room is nice, I really like the app that lets you pay so you don’t need coins but also tells you how much time you have remaining or if there are machines available. CrossFit is walking distance (separate business). The pool is nice. You’re right next to Frisco, Prosper, Littlr Elm, Savannah, and Denton.
