    Indian Point RV Park

    Overnight only

The campground sits on three level overlooking Lake Barkly. There are only 5 pull-thru sites with full hookups on wide open ground, no shade. There are 16 water and electric sites. The 150+ sites are long term rental properties. There is a swimming pool, play ground, boat ramp, and game room. Dump site at entrance. More a retirement community than a RV camp.

    No frills campground

This is a no frills campground just off of I-69/I-24. Check in was completed online and our site was marked with our name. All sites are full hook up with concrete pads. The county has a trail system that begin just a few hundred feet down the road that is a nice stretch of the legs. The skeleton on the motorcycle welcoming you was interesting, maybe we were really early or really late for Halloween. The campground is in need of some TLC of the grounds. There also seems to be a lot of long term residents.

    An affordable place to stop

We stopped here for the night and enjoyed our stay. This is more of an RV park for long term locals. The surrounding country side is pretty and there is a property with a horse close that my daughter enjoyed.

    Eddy Creek Marina Resort

    A Resort RV park

Eddy creek RV park is very well kept, clean, and somewhat secluded on Lake Barkley. Only open from April through Oct, the RV camp area is behind a code locked gate, which helps to keep the park private. There is a dump station, laundry facility, bath house , propane available and Echo Charlie's restaurant that serves typical American food that includes large servings!  I didn't see any tent sites, only RV sites, most with newer looking decks, level sites, electric and water hookup to each site.  The beach is private, the pool is private, everything is within walking distance, but most people were using golf carts, as it is a good distance from the RV area to the restaurant or the pool.  Bicycling would also be ideal, most areas are paved or at least compacted gravel.

    Convenient to the interstate

This is an RV park, located right outside Clarksville, TN. on I-24, about half way between Nashville and Land Between the Lakes. The grounds were clean and the sites were level. Most of the people there appeared to be permanent, or semi-permanent.

The shower and bathroom was clean. They provide free internet, there is a small store with firewood and other basics. Also a pool and playground. They are a Good Sam Park, so if you are a member you get a discount.

    Great Lake getaway

With all the parking lot style RV parks popping up these days, it’s nice to find these older parks around from days when people liked trees and breathing room. Stayed in the full hookup sites of Dogwood Loop. Some sites are hard to back into and require much work to get level, but they are well spaced out and large sites. Bath houses are a bit dated, but that is to be expected from older parks like this. Two boat ramps for those who bring boats. Plenty of sites close to water. Not many full hookup sites, but tons of sites with power and no water. 100% worth staying here is you are gonna visit LBL sites.

    Easy Getaway from Nashville

At only 35-40 minutes away from downtown Nashville, it is a great weekend or even one night getaway. There are both primitive and RV hookup sites. The hosts that were there when I went were very friendly and helpful. It's not backcountry camping but it is a great campground. There are also a few nice trails that connect right to the back of the campground.

    Rustic charm

Very friendly, family-owned rv resort. Camp hosts were delightful and Michael came to greet us personally. He took us through the precious tiny houses that they rent. We swam and waded in the (very clean) river and watched kids jumping off of the rock ledge. No frills, but very clean. Downside is there are not many sites near the water. They do have big plans for expansion!

Tip💡: follow the directions on their website!

    Awesome Stop

We stayed 4 nights on our way through Kentucky and really enjoyed this park. It is very close with easy access to Interstate 69 and Highway 68. It is right next door to the Land Between Lakes and Benton, KY.

This is more of a travelers park, although there were quite a few long term residents in RVs. The park is built on hills but they did a great job leveling the sites. Gravel roads take you to your spot. There is water and electric. They have a dump station and pump out services. They do have showers available, they were the push button showers so it wasn’t a long relaxing hot shower (had to warm up each time).

Cellular service for AT&T and TMobile were both great.

Owners were very friendly, and made the check in process easy.

    Very spacious

We managed to snap up site #43 out of pure luck. Level, water and electric while most of the campground is electric only. No full hook ups available. All the lots are paved and our site is located under an enormous oak tree. The campground is just minutes to the state park and Lake Barkley. Only 2 hours from home this park is worth the drive several times a year.

Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area Hillman Ferry Campground

Very large maintained park with lots of amenities

Over 300 campsites from primitive, electric w/ water and full hook ups in each area along with campstore, modern restrooms and shower houses and so many things to do: swimming, fishing, boating, boat ramps, laundry, basketball courts, archery range, playgrounds, hiking trails plus seasonal events, amphitheater and church. We visited before the busy season so lake was low and fishing sucked however and it was peaceful/quiet. I can definitely see this campground being crazy when sites are booked solid.

    Fun

The hosts were delightful and very helpful. They went out of their way to accommodate our needs. However, The sites were uneven, difficult to get in and out of with a large rig. Long term guests next to us were rude and insulting when asked to leash their dog, after it twice attacked our dog. As a result of this negative experience we cannot recommend this park.

    Piney River Resort

This is a nice RV, particularly by the river

The resort is pretty remote and the last mile of the road in is a little sporty. Definitely follow the campground’s directions, don’t rely on GPS or other services, as the campground directions are the only viable way in, particularly for Class As. The main campground is typical for RV resorts, sites pretty close together and in the open, but the sites along the river, where we were(site 1), all have concrete pads, are reasonably spaced and right on the river. Some have shelters over their picnic tables. The staff is very friendly, attentive and helpful. AT&T had 1 bar and 0.04 MB/s w/o a booster, 2 bars and 0.2 MB/s with it. Overall WiFi was“ok” with data rates from 0.2 MB/s up to 1.1 MB/s. Satellite coverage should be good at any of the sites. We had visibility to all 3 DISH west satellites, so we didn’t try OTA channels.

    Birmingham Ferry/Smith Bay - LBL

Drag Boat Racing & Camping: go together like PB&J

Birmingham Ferry is the elite campground for national level drag boat racing, and the camp ground reflects the elite sport enthusiasts who enjoy drag boat racing while camping. While considered to be back country and primative (only select sites have electric or water) people come in from all over the US to participate in the drag boat races every year. All roads to campground are paved, and campground roads are gravel or compacted rock. The campground is terraced, and actually spreads through several sections that provide campers with the choice of being very close to the water (or activities if racing is going on) or further in the woods and more quiet. The boat ramp has a large parking area at the ramp and on the plateau above the ramp, providing for long term trailer parking. While most all sites are long or large enough for RV's in the immediate boat ramp area, you will need to be a confident driver to back a camper up and onto some sites. The campground is divided into the original or "old" side, with the large boat ramp, and the flatter side is gated and has more of the paved sites. The gated side is closed to walk-in camping during specific times of year in order for Birmingham Ferry to host drag boat racing (this year's schedule is posted as a photo). This is a fee camping area, and requires registration, available at either Welcome Station or any of the four hosted campgrounds.

    Peaceful, shady, clean

The park is well kept, clean and lots of trees for shade. Good bike riding and walking trails.

The sites are back in and range from full hook up to primitive. Most sites are level. The water, power and septic all worked w no issues and were in decent shape. The roads are asphalt but aging. Bathrooms and showers were aging but clean and well placed throughout the campground. Some sites backed up to a slow creek, I would recommend 80 & 81 they have fabulous creek access.

Small campground and not far from the 40.

Far enough from the 40 you can sleep without the constant highway noise.

Full hook up's however the elbow for the tank won't attach. 30/50 Amp and water.

    Pull through site

Seems quite but we are staying mid week.

Passport America has 3 day limit can extend for a little bit more per day.

    Owner very nice and hospitable

    Very well taken care of!

*Heading back to campsite C had me a little confused because you drive through an area that looks more like permanent homes but once we found it, it was great!

Pirates Cove is a very nice RV park! The grounds had so many things for the family to do including a Basketball court, a very clean pool, a full mini golf area, store, and a boat launching area! you get the mini golf equipment from the store!

There is NO tent campgrounds but ONLY RVs but each site has a picnic table, water hookup, a fire pit and electrical outlets! Honestly everything you’d need for a good experience! We stayed in our car but had an overall great experience!

KOA Campground Kentucky Lakes Prizer Point

Great during end of season for large groups

Prizer Point is where I hostess a (Usually) large-ish group of women campers for a looong weekend of festivities. Our weekend themes have been simple (this year I taught Geocaching) to full blown festival (last year was Pirate's in the Cove). The success of the event weekends is largely due to the amazing staff at Prizer, as they accommodate a lot of last minute pleas for changes and help! This customer service amenity was truly evident this last April, when I hosted over 70 women campers from across the United States who camp local to a natural disaster area while they do volunteer services in the affected community - the Prizer staff made our stay very accommodating, even opening up the new "lagoon" area for our RV's with freshly paved full hookup pull through sites, a beautifully renovated bath house, large grassy area for gathering and our tent campers, and a bonfire area. The pools were (are usually are not) open when the women and I come to camp on our "week-end" (every September), and the lake was already at winter pool this year, but that makes it quite easy to launch a kayak, or SUP right from the floating dock that is sitting on the bottom of the inlet.  In years past we've stayed in the cove area, on the original side of the park, where there is only water and electric hook ups. Prizer has a "honey wagon" that comes and pumps your waste water tanks every other day or as needed. The new lagoon area has full hook up so you don't need the honey wagon.

Nice option near Fort campbell base

We brought our camper here to visit family living at the Fort Campbell base, I don’t like that you can’t reserve a spot ahead of time especially since it was an 8 hour drive, but thankfully we did find a spot. The bathhouse area was nice and clean even though we didn’t need it, there were some fields to play around in there and we loved seeing all the deer there! At $25 a night for full hook up this is a pretty good option, would have liked to have had a little more space between campsites but We’ll definitely be back.

    Looking for Breath Taking Views?

Not sure where to start as the pictures don't do justice to the location. We stayed late in November and absolutely loved it! Full hook-ups and blazing fast WiFi. I streamed the game outside while the kids streamed Disney+ inside.

Make sure to opt for the creek sites. More expensive but totally worth the cost. Camp host are super helpful. Wood available for purchase.

Getting to the location is a bit of a challenge with small roads and some dirt roads. If you are looking for a spot with a hiking this wouldn't your final destination. Close to the interstate which making getting groceries and food easy.

Did I mention the amazing views!

USFS needs to step it up

We came here in mid November 2021 and stayed for a week. I was disappointed with the campground. The bathrooms were clean, but are in bad need of updates, as are the shower facilities. Showers were luke warm, some had non-functioning heaters in them, and a lot of rust and broken shelving. The sites are level, but are not picked up routinely; we had to clean our site of discarded bottle caps, hygiene items, etc. when we arrived. The laundry facilities are outside- and some machines didn’t work. At one point (probably due to seasonal reasons) they removed all the washing machines. No notice posted. The views are nice, but the lake/river effect wind coming in during winter is punishing and forces you inside most of the time anyway. Trails on the property are overgrown, and the one loop by the ranger station has two bridges that look like they have been destroyed for years- no one is doing any maintenance on them. I expected to do some route finding due to fall, but this was really bad. The surrounding area makes up for it, nice things to see, lots of history, nice trails and mountain bike spots. But you have to drive about 40 minutes minimum from the campground to get to the MTB trails, and about the same to get to a town (Murray, Ky) that has everything. The USFS runs this place, and they seemed helpful, but they need to step it up in the maintenance department here. The playground for kids is missing swings, the trash in some receptacles is full. Furthermore; they have some long-term residents that have sites that look like they are running a swap meet out of them. I don’t think that should be allowed in a park like this.
