Solid Overnighter

The campground(CG) was easy to find off I-24, but we did as the pre-check-in email stated and took exit 45, NOT exit 40 as the RV GPS wanted. Check-in was a very friendly experience, and we were guided to pull through site D-8 with FHUs. The CG roads are on the narrow side but passable. The gravel site with a picnic table and fire pit was long enough for our 39’ 5th wheel and our F-450. They have good water pressure and no issues with the utilities. There are a lot of mature trees in this park, so we didn’t try to put out our Starlink, which was not a big deal for an overnight stay. We got a few OTA channels and 3 bars on Verizon. Their CG wifi was average and good enough to check email, etc. The CG is mostly permanent residents, either living here full-time or coming in on the weekends, with most having decks and golf carts. The couple of residents we talked to were very friendly. The sites are close together and well maintained/not trashy. They have a decent-sized fenced dog area that’s on the side of a hill. The empty sites in the CG filled with overnighters during our Monday- Tuesday stay. Overall, we enjoyed our short stay.

Nice quiet campground, really clean

We were on a sudden, urgent 1200-mile family-related trip, not recreational. This campground came recommended by family and we are giving it high recommendation. The location is near a large KY dam and lakes recreation area. No surprise that the majority of sites are permanent residents with wooden decks, patio furniture and ferns. These permanent sites are close together with basically the width of the wooden decks separating them. Very, very well maintained facilities. Clean bath house. Level asphalt pads with good hook-ups. Most sites have some shade. Nice store in the office (groceries, RV equipment and fishing supplies). They have play equipment for kids and a pool. Our plans were uncertain based on the family situation and they penciled us in for a site the next night, accommodating us with short notice both nights with no fuss. We learned the owners are new and they obviously know how to manage a facility like this. The entire family was friendly and personable. We were escorted to our site and he assisted us with hook-ups. This campground closes for a few months in Fall. Nearby food: The Daily Bread is exceptional for breakfasts, desserts, pizza and sandwiches.
