Shhh, secret sweet spot…

Access is rough, (moderate clearance vehicles required). Also, as courtesy - cruise the bridge and see if people are down there first, (both sides).

Sweet backcountry spot! Nice gurgling stream and hiking trails.

Nice Campground

Well maintained campground, with pretty views. Campsites are often uneven with alot of tree roots running throughout. It does require consideration before parking your trailer or RV.

Everything you want in a state park

What a lovely, relaxing park. There is an area for day-use people, with boat rentals, a small swimming area, and playgrounds (including mini golf!).

As for camping, you have two options: a large drive-in section (each with electric and water), some near the lake, some more forested, and some…

Primitive site with rough access

This camping site is unmarked and almost literally under a bridge. There's a pull-off to either side of the structure, which quickly goes from asphalt to a very uneven dirt road which had been graveled long ago, snaking down to the river. My small car had difficulty getting down it and the drop-off…

Nice Sites

Campgrounds were easy to access on gravel and paved roads. Quiet and secluded but other campers are around. There are toilet facilities but can’t remember if there was a water tap. Sites are close to a few trails and close to a nice iron bridge crossing the Chattooga River. Definitely recommend…

Good for all ages!

Camp site was very clean and well taken care of on arrival. Mark and Esther were always available if any questions arose and were also very helpful with things around the area to do that were both for experienced hikers and for those with kids. WiFi was perfect near the parking lot. Bathrooms and…

Small park, big sites

Camped with my daughter and our two dogs for 2 nights and really loved this park. We had a large, multilevel campsite that was just perfect for tent camping. Very woodsy and quaint but the rangers office had lots of small gear/tools in case you forgot something, ice, they are open 7 days 12-8pm and…

Good for a quick weekend

We went for a quick weekend away. The camp sites are too close for our liking. It feels like everyone is in your business here. I guess the positive for the proximity is access to bath houses. We just didn’t like how everyone can walk through your camp site.

Favorite Campground

Had to take the long road to get home and did not waste an opportunity to stay at my favorite campground. As a walk in you pay $20/night for an available non-reservable campsite. C Loop has showers and D Loop does not. Bears were active but did not bother me in the least. I could hear them turning…

Lake Hartwell State Ark

The park has a lot of potential. Road maintenance is not being done. Definitely needs some electrical work. Ours kept throwing breakers whenever someone new hooked up down the circuit. Cleaning is slack, it’s a shame really.

Very nice campground with Ants 🐜

What a beautiful State Park. My husband and I enjoyed our time visiting the park. We were at camp site#83. It was a hike to get to the water with numerous steps that could hinder some. Very private, wooded lot with obstructed views of the lake. Phone service was 1/2 bar to none. We had a terrible…
