The Magic

This was the most friendly campground Ive ever visited. They have locked gate from 10PM till morning, so felt very safe. The staff could not be friendlier! I really felt safe and the site was exceptional. Private access to waterway. If you need any help, just ask gate personel. I needed repair on camper. I would reccomem Charles Mobile RV repair. He fixed us up quickly and is so sweet. I will definitely return to this paradise!

Oconee point/ lake hartwell

We camped lakefront on hartwell. Had a very large point all to ourselves. The site was super clean, had a fire pit, grill, full service hook-up. Plenty of parking, and the site was situated in a dead end cul-de-sac. Restrooms and showers were nearby, and kept very clean. The campground has a beach, and a boat launch. We had our boat with us and was able to pull it to shore at the site. If you visit, there is no camp store, so be sure to bring all your gear, and firewood!

A Hidden Gem

This is one of the best sites we have ever been to. From the first encounter with the very friendly host at the gate, well maintained campsite, and very clean bathrooms, I would give this place 10 stars. The site is right next to the lake and has a wonderful breeze. Will be back soon.

Beautiful campground with waterfront sites!

This is a well kept campground with all of the sites right on the water.  Many are pull through and while there are a few smaller sites most will handle a 40' rig.  There are three bathhouses with showers around the campground and one bathroom with flush toilets but no showers.  Roads are wide, well kept, and easy to navigate.  Sites have 50/30/20 amp electric service and water, pads are level packed gravel, each having a picnic table and fire ring.  Many sites offer direct water access right in front of the site and are kept clear so swimming next to site is outstanding.  Cell phone service is very good and over the air TV offers about 10-12 channels.  Most sites have nice shade, but some are full sun.  There is no camp store, however a Dollar General is about five miles away.  Accessible from I-85 via SC State Hwy 24, about 10 miles.  Excellent campground, our go to place since we live about 30 minutes away.  Best campsites are 3, 14, 57, 58, 69 & 70.

It seemed small and crowded

Pulled in on a rainy day into the wrong site. On checking in the next day, found we had to move. None of the available sites were suitable even for my small 17ft camper. After a walk around the bumpy narrow road in the campground loop, we just decided to leave.

Best of the best!

We love this campground. Beautiful waterfront spots. We floated on our tubes in the lake. Great bike riding places. Clean bathrooms. The guy at the gate is always so nice!

Don't tell anyone!!!

Okay, I'll make you a deal. If you promise not to tell anyone about Oconee point, I'll do my best to tell you about it.

It's amazing!!!

As with pretty much all Army Corps of Engineers parks we've been to, the sites are large and spaced far enough apart to give privacy.

Best of all, you'd be hard pressed to find a site here that's not on the water.

"The water" in this case is Hartwell late. It's clean, clear, expansive, and largely free of development. I don't know much more about it, but we loved it. Swimming was great.

What else?

Pretty much all the sites are great, but four recommendations here:

2, 14, 69, 70.

Beautiful site in the lake

We had an excellent weekend stay at site 16, lovely lake view of Hartwell, power and water hookups only. Everything looks great and well maintained, our site was right on the lake and had a large area for the grill and picnic table with cross tie steps and walls. Beautiful campground we stayed in September 18 in a motorhome.

Love!

Wow, Oconee Point in South Carolina is one of my favorite camping spots for me. I absolutely love this place, and have been coming here ever since I was little. This place holds such a special place in my heart. Hartwell Lake is gorgeous!! When we come and stay here, I spend most of my day here on the lake. I love to kayak and canoe on the lake. More times than not I am up and going at around 6:30am, and I start my day on the lake. It is so peaceful and quite in the mornings, I love it!! Another thing I love about this campground is that the campsite are very large. In the summer months this campground is very busy- so the large campsites makes you feel like it isn't AS busy. There is enough room between each campsite that you don't feel like you are intruding on another campsite! The campground is also very clean, and there are some rangers and attendants available which is also really helpful. We have asked the rangers in the past about hikes around the area. They have definitely been extremely helpful and have pointed us in the right direction. There are some really great hikes nearby that range from easy to difficult. I would suggest doing research ahead of time, or asking one of the attendants about the hikes in the area. Just so you do a hike that fits your needs. I don't remember what campsites we have stayed at, but we try and get as close to the water as possible. This just makes for a beautiful view, and easy to get our water activities in the lake. I would definitely suggest bringing any water toys you have. Again, I love kayaking/canoeing but we always see people in the lake with floaties or in tubes. I would suggest brining bug spray too- the mosquitoes are always annoying!

So many lake front sites!

Oconee Point is a Core of Engineers campground with HUGE sites and almost all are lake front. Super clean and peaceful. Three dump sites for RVs. Electricity and water at every site. This is a gem! I highly recommend it. There are plenty of spots to ride bikes. If you have kayaka or a boat, you can pull them right up to your spot.
