If you want to go to a campground with a swimming pool, a bingo game, and an ice cream social, then we probably are not your ideal campground. There are wonderful campgrounds in the area that offer that type of experience. However, if you are looking for a campground that offers quiet moments around a fire, beautiful sunsets, and a peaceful walk through the woods, then you should probably make a reservation today.

    Nope!

Tried this KOA on the spur of the moment. We won't be back.

It's easy on/easy off from the interstate. The hills were terrible getting there, then another hill to get to the KOA. The ANOTHER hill to get to our site.

Asked for a site by the bathroom. It was closer than all the other sites on the hill. Yes, all the sites are cut into the hill. There's stairs to get down to the bathroom/shower(!?!?). Some people living in a trailer by the stairs have a big dog that will lunge & bark.

It seems like cosmetic things have been done. Planters spaced on posts leading up to the KOA main building. The bathroom had some newer looking siding & some flowers, but the floor in the women's bathroom had holes in it. It smelled funny in there too. This place needs a major remodel!

     There were cigarette butts EVERYWHERE!

We were thinking about using the pool, but decided against it. Sites were full sun.

Can't believe this is a KOA...

Clean Park and nice shaded sites

This is our second time staying here - once in Electric site on Lakeside and this time non electric site on Hillside. Love this side of Hillside - quiet and shaded. Very clean park and shower house does not have the timed showers of Lakeside. Both times very much appreciated the presense of DCNR - on foot this time. Very nice park to hike, swim, walk, bike, and kayak. The little store has drinks and snacks. Because the beach was closed we had considered going to Deery Community Pool 7 miles away - another option in the area.

    Campsites are not level

A dozen or so of the sites are not level, not only that but they are narrow and where you sit is a slope making it very uncomfortable. This is overpriced for that simple issue, I guess ok for an overnight stay but I wouldn’t plan a long stay

Clean, well-maintained, and quiet with friendly owner

We stayed here for a week in June 2024 in our 42-foot fifth wheel. Overall the campground is clean and well-maintained. The owner is friendly and helpful. Amenities include a heated, in-ground pool, a recreation center, a pavilion, and swing sets.

The current owners have had the campground since ~2014 and have made many repairs and improvements. Water, electric, and sewage lines have been replaced or upgraded in the past few years. We had stable electric and good water.

Unfortunately no WiFi is available, but there was a good AT&T cell phone signal.

Great spot for families and quiet

We've stayed here twice, and both times have been great. The only downside for us is that we're full-time and this is close to "home." We don't really use the amenities, so we can't validate having to pay for anyone to visit us only at our rv. We understand the policy as camp hosts ourselves. People abuse areas and will bring 30 people to a place like this. It is beautifully set up with a small lake for swimming, playgrounds, pavillions, games, events, music etc. Level gravel sites with really great grassy areas. We stayed memorial weekend and it was quiet by 9 every night. They do a great job keeping the park looking beautiful. Reasonable rates.

Peace and quiet with level pads.

Perfect for our little Scamp trailer. Only 5 big electric sites, no showers or potable water. As a result it was so peaceful! We loved our rainy stay. There are some lovely hiking trails around the lake and spillway. But lately there has been no swimming because of blue green algae.

    Incredible views

Mountain Top was off the beaten path and very quiet. The check in process was easy and our site was flat. We had the most amazing views from our site. Water and electricity were easy to access and hook up. Bathhouse was clean. Only disappointment was that the showers were coin operated, so you not only needed cash on hand but then had to turn those into special coins for the shower. They had both ice and firewood available that was self service.

    Not very private

The campgrounds on a skinnier part of the lake so you’re directly across from residential homes and right next to a road. The sites are very close together and there’s very few trees, so it’s not private at all. The bathrooms were extremely well maintained. The potable water was shut off while we were there.

    Small Right On The Water

This is definitely a smaller state campground, but has a lot going for it. Which is why it's sometimes hard to get into on the weekends. The camp sites on the water are very spacious, but the ones on the inside of the loop, not so much. But if you're camping with a group the inner loop can be a lot of fun. They have a playground, a basketball court, and their own beach for the campers. Along with several docks to fish from and launch your kayak. They have a camp store to meet most needs and a nice bathroom with showers. The camp store also rents kayaks and paddle boards. All the sites here are electric, but only electric.

    Large, Mostly Rustic

My family stayed here over the Labor Day weekend a few years back. It was a relaxing time in a campground that is mostly shaded which I prefer. However, there weren't that many electric sites overall and they were very unlevel. The campground overall is very hilly and the swimming area is almost too far to walk to with young kids. Not going to lie, but this is one of the few campgrounds that we aren't in a big hurry to return to. But if you're looking for a place close to Pittsburgh that can be quiet depending on when you go, this might be right for you.

    Maybe my favorite campground

This is the one campground that my wife and I make it to every year. There's truly nothing special about it, except that is a very friendly, and laid back place to camp. It sits on top of a mountain well away from the rest of the park with two main roads going either direction from the camp office and store. Most of the camp sites have electricity, but most aren't level. It's the kind of place that has some really great sits and some not so great. But we personally always love making a trip here.

Well kept park with good spot spacing

Stayed here the first weekend of October.  Nice spots and many have good spacing from your neighbors.  Pets are welcome.  Facilities are older but well kept.  Bathhouse is heated with showers that have a fiberglass tub surround, not concrete.  Nice hiking trails that connect through the campground.  Hiking trail maps are not great but the trails are marked well. The Lake is a good walk and looks good for kayaking and fishing.  Brought our kayaks but it was a bit too cold.  Big wide spots are 11 and 16.  Nice hammock hangers on the non-electric spots.

    Nice park

Very quiet park this time of year. Only one loop that allows pets. The spots are very sloped so bring your Lego blocks. Bathrooms were ok but nice hot showers. We we the only campers in our loop so private. I grew up near here and visited the park often. First time camping here.

    Great weekend getaway!

The campground is nice and the facilities are clean! You have to be careful when picking a site if you have never been here. The electric sites are very close together. We were in F4 and it was huge. Most of the sites are large and pretty spread out. There are really great hikes around the area and the lake is lovely! The only downside is that the airport is pretty close so at times you can hear planes taking off.

    Nice campground with waterfront sites

We had site # 9 which had electric hook up and you fill with water. To fill with water you have to pass the entrance for this loop and it's down a little on the left. Our site was waterfront which had a nice view. It was a steep slope down so we couldn't access the water from our site. A few sites you can.  Out site was a nice size and shaded for the most of it. There is a dump station onsite.

We saw big Blue Herons, Oriels, Robins, and lot's of little song birds. There are some groundhogs there too.

The lake is big and you can boat, fish, kayak & canoe in it.  There is a boat launch onsite. There are several playgrounds, lakeside picnic shelter an Amphitheater and a nature trail onsite. The town is close so there are places to eat and stores of all kinds.

Our favorite sites in the Golden loop are #6, 7, 9, 12 and 17.

    The main loop sites # 72, 66 and 80.

The new duck loop all the sites with electric are on the inside not waterfront.

The NON electric loops favorite sites are:

    The Pine Loop # 130, 161, 118, 121, 123, and 128.

The lake view loop sites # 49, 39 and 31.

The Old Duck loop Site # 212 is waterfront and has good water access.

The road going into the duck loops aren't as nice as the rest of the campground roads.

If you are camping with a generator they don't allow them to run after 10 PM during quiet hours.
