Camp Taylor Campground

This campground is my absolute favorite. The WiFi is a bit shotty but it brings our family back to nature like no other. The kids are kids!!! They play in the creek, get dirty, build fires and hike on the premises. We have stayed here twice, once with the kids and once without. The family that operates this place are the friendliest and most accommodating hosts I have encountered. They go out of their way to make sure their guests are happy. We went during August the first time and October the second. They had a Halloween haunted house set up. It was wonderful. The kids had such a blast we’re going to make it a point to come annually. We are already booked for this coming October. We even met a group of friends here and planned to return when they do as well. Thank you Camp Taylor!

Only stayed for one night, but the place was very well taken care of with facilities interspersed throughout and ample recycling bins, etc.

We had everything we expected for a camping trip. Water, electric and plants of woods. Bathrooms were very clean and shower area as well. Staff was polite. Neighbors were very quite and there was plenty of space between the sites. Make sure if you’re towing, you have a good tow vehicle because the hills on the way there are epic but all so beautiful. Some reviews crack me up. Please don’t expect the Ritz Carlton when you’re camping on dirt. It was all dirty and wonderful. Enjoy your trip!

My husband and I brought our kids and nephew to Camp Taylor. We did tent camping for the weekend and we had a blast. The camping site we originally had booked was rather small, the front desk was cordial and able to accommodate us by moving us to a bigger site. We had running water and an electric outlet. Our neighbors were quiet and respectful, the grounds are well maintained and staff is great!

Having been here on a few occasions I will say it is def a beautiful spot in many regards. However, there are some downsides.

Positives: sites are decent sized with fire pits and picnic tables. easy access to hiking, convenient to a beautiful vineyard, peaceful region, and the most amazing wolf preserve is right next to you.  

Negative: limited access to firewood. sites are picked clean, quiet hours are strongly enforced- which can be a good thing depending upon who you are, the lake is anything but refreshing.

Camp Taylor has a lot going for it! Nice facilities at the entrance, large fields for star gazing, and some sites are pretty spacious. Tall tress do provide some privacy but these sites are pretty close together. You will feel like you’re camping with neighbors. (Some season-long sites looked like they lived there!) Site 49 looked to be the most private, up on the hilltop. Definitely book the wolf tour—and walk there instead of taking the shuttle! Beware: their firewood did not burn well. We burned through at least 7 bundles and couldn’t ever make a warm fire. Come with some starter logs!

This is the perfect campground if you have a smaller rig or are tent camping. The area is very nice, well-maintained, staff is very friendly and helpful, electric and water supply is good, and wifi is decent. The hike up to the wolf preserve next door is enjoyable even though the educational wolf tours were sold out(very popular so book early). The grounds were very quiet, almost solitary, through the week and then packed during the weekend but everyone was pleasant and well behaved. However, my 32' coach was probably the largest one there. Roads are narrow and sites are very unlevel-- I couldn't get the RV totally level as much as I tried. The dump station is squeezed into the front of the camp so after the mid-week tank dump, I had to pull out into the street and K-turn back in. That was the only issue I had all week, though. Overall, an enjoyable stay.

I had my first camp trip here with another family. It was a great campground for kids with lots of activities. My kids loved the lake for feeding the fish and swimming. The lake was beautiful to watch the sunset or sunrise.

There was a playground with sand diggers, a large connect 4 kind of game and tether ball. There was an arcade but unfortunately that was not open due to Covid. The campground store was great and had lots of items. There was plenty of hiking all around us and areas for bike riding. The only issue I had was there were weeds all over the campsite. The firepit had weeds growing out of it, there was weeds around the trees and such. Just not very tidy. If you like a more private camping trip know that the sites are very close to each other. Lots of RV campers (I am personally a tent camper).

Check in was easy. The staff were great and friendly. We had a dead battery and they came to help us jump it - quickly I might add.

This campground is lovely. Very wooded. Some sites are more private than others but all have a wooded and private feel. It's GREAT For kids. A nice playground with tons of kids running all over. The swimming pond is pleasant and great to cool off in. The bathrooms/showers are clean and well maintained. The small mini-golf course is a fun distraction for a bit. There are great trails to hike to right from the campground as well as the Wolf Preserve. We stayed along the Creek which was nice and combined an RV and tent site to accommodate our family. Water and electric hookups are standard, no sewer, but there is a dump station. The store is cute and has just about anything that you need.

This was a great campground! We loved walking the trails everyday and then going to see the wolves of course. Our spot was a bit muddy and hard to maneuver due to it being a shorter spot but it worked out great. We ended up being next to a creek in which our kids played in all day.

We've started here many times. It's a nice family run campground with spaces from full hook-up, to clamping, to small cabins. There is a swimming pond and a nice hike takes you to the deleware river. Recommend it fully.

There is a section of RV spots that are each cut out in the woods so very private. Once you have backed into the spot and leveled out it’s a good time. The section of spots toward the back by the pond are usually packed and lots of activity and early morning active children. You can take a short hike up the mountain there to see the wolves in the sanctuary. There are moments by the fire you can hear them howl in the distance. It’s one of our favorite places to camp.

If you're part of a younger crowd, you're going to have a problem. The owner and his son are incredibly rude and aggressive. We were there less than 24 hours and had the worst time you could imagine. Making noise during non-quiet hours is a problem for them. They yelled at another group of young people for LAUGHING too loudly. Yes, seriously. The cherry on top was the owner and his son threatening to call the state police on us because they had convinced themselves we were cutting down trees for no reason. This place is beyond miserable, stay very very far away from it.

A great place to camp for a good nature experience . There are trails that lead from the campground to many miles of wilderness hiking in the federal park and state forests . The Lakota Wolf Preserve is a must see while there and hearing the wolves howl at night while you are out at the fire is really cool . There are a lot of bears roaming the woods in this part of NJ so keep your coolers in the car and garbage in the trash cans . For hiking and a great outdoor and camping in the woods experience check this place out .

Electric and water hookups, no sewer but there’s a dump station on the way out. Wooded and delightfully devoid of golf carts. Saw wild turkeys and deer in the morning. The wolf preserve at the same location was just amazing - we learned so much and could hear the wolves howl from the campsite. Hiked to Mt. Tammany from the campsite for the best view in NJ (9 miles round trip). Close to all the Pocono/Stroudsburg attractions - we shopped and toured the Frazetta museum. Will definitely stay there again.

My daughter and I have made Camp Taylor our annual spot for the past 4-5 years and it just keeps getting better. Hiking to the Wolf Preserve, paddleboats, mini golf, swimming in the lake . . . There are so many things to do, and they keep all of the facilities updated and in great shape. Plus, unlike many other campgrounds we’ve been to, they are very good about actually enforcing the quiet hours at night, so you can have an actual peaceful and quiet night around the campfire.

Camp Taylor is a small and woodsy campground. Each site a decent amount of space and privacy which was nice. They have a welcome store with some rocking chairs out front if you want to relax away from your campsite. I would say the definite highlight and attraction for staying at Camp Taylor, though, is signing up to go see the rescue wolves. Unfortunately we did not do this because the timing did not work out. If I ever am back in the area I will definitely try to make that happen though!

This is not one of those resort campgrounds. It has minimal amenities. However, if you are looking to tent camp at a great location, it’s perfect. The tent camping area is separate so no loud noises from RVs. The sites are spacious and separated by trees so you really feel connected to nature. I love hearing the wolves and being so close to great hiking trails. Highly recommended. It’s my favorite drive-in tent campground in NJ.

Campsites are nice and large, can hold multiple tents. They request the purchase of another site if you have more then two tents, but then you can put all tents on one site and cook and hang out in the other. We have a beautiful site along the creek, perfect white noise to get a great night sleep. Very woodsy so you definitely are in the woods. The camp ground is connected to the wolf preserve so you can hear them howl if you listen. Only bad thing is their general store is more of a gift shop and does not really cater to the needs of a camper. I prefer if I forget something like creamer for my coffee or cups that are not styrofoam I would prefer to walk into the camp store note have to go to Walmart. I’m camping getting away from that. Anyway I highly recommend this campground for a relaxing kick back and enjoyable, peaceful time! You have to buy their wood you can’t bring any in, they are trying to keep the lantern flies away. $5 bundle for 7 pieces.

We stayed here because it was the only dog friendly campground in the area. We would have loved to see the wolf preserve at the camp, but dogs weren’t allowed in that part of the camp so we missed it. Campground is close to the AT.

Easy access from Rt 80 and located close to the Lakota Wolf Preserve. With tours leaving them campground twice a day on both Saturday and Sundays for the wolf preserve, I was glad there was camping so close. The camping selection of sites is excellent with Cabins, Glamping tents, primitive tent sites and of course RV sites. I choose to stay in one of the glamping tents and was pleasantly surprised at the space inside the tent even with a double bed and two other fold out couches to beds. Water is available at the site. A small lake for swimming and boating. And lots of trails linking you to the Delaware river water gap area.

Camp Taylor Campground is located on the Delaware Water Gap Mtn. There are miles of hiking trails and direct access to the Appalachian Tr. The Lakota Wolf Preserve is located on the camp and offers discounted tours for campers. Small swimming pond with paddleboat and kayak rentals. Clean Bathrooms. We walked to the point at Mt Tammany for a great view of the river
