Best Campgrounds near Toledo, OR

Beautiful campground, standard USFS vibe of beautiful trees, paved roads, nice bathrooms, and some nice hiking trails. Dogs are allowed on the trails but not the beach here. The beach is too far of a walk from here to be convenient, something like 2 miles. We paid $31 for a standard site with no hookups. 

There are several water spigots throughout the campground. The tree cover here is very thick, so solar didn’t work and starlink probably wouldn’t either. There is also group camping here. Good cell reception for Verizon and ATT. Host on site, very friendly, American Land and Leisure is the company that manages the campgrounds and provide the hosts.

This place offers a regular RV park for something around $80/night, or dry camping for about $40/night. The dry camping area is literally a parking lot, but you have a nice view of the marina and also it’s really nice to be this close to town so we stayed here for a night. You’re sharing a parking lot with Rogue brewery and distillery, which is very cool. You’re also walking distance to the Oregon Coast Aquarium, also very cool. The town of Newport is cute and fun and there are many interesting and cool shops to browse, and many of them are dog friendly. 

We didn’t use any of the amenities here, but we were told there is wifi and showers. There were dumpsters (no recycling), and a free dump station for campers. There was non-potable water at the dump station, but I am sure they would also let you fill your tanks with potable water.

Following my initial review, I received a call today from the park owner. He informed me that he fired someone named Layla (or Lila), but has since determined that this was not the person I spoke with (despite that being the name I was given and the voice sounding identical). I apologized and offered to correct the name in my review.

However, he claims he's now identified the person I did speak with and has heard "their side of the story," suggesting my review contains untruths. Specifically, he stated she did not laugh at me or get dismissive – even though he wasn't present during the call. Because of these alleged "lies," he's canceled "my" reservation. This is particularly frustrating as it wasn't my reservation to begin with; I was simply inquiring about joining.

It's concerning that he would fire someone based on my review without first getting their perspective, only to then find another person's story more compelling. It seems he's quick to fire without full investigation and disregards the customer experience.

It’s hard to capture just how breathtaking Creekside Retreat truly is. The creek itself runs clear and clean, winding through wooded banks lined with smooth stones and bathed in dappled sunlight that dances and sparkles on the water’s surface. We stayed in a glamping tent that far exceeded our expectations. It had everything we needed, with no detail overlooked. Falling asleep on a queen-sized memory foam bed to the soothing sound of running water and the scent of fresh pine was absolute heaven. Tom and Brooke have curated the campground with so much thought and care. You’ll find hammocks, lawn games, ice, firewood, vending machines, fishing and hunting licenses, and more. I also have to give a special shout-out to the compost toilets—seriously, they’re better than most indoor bathrooms. They don’t smell at all! On top of all that, there’s a beautiful pavilion with a gas grill and a large fireplace that everyone can use, rain or shine. It’s the perfect spot for family gatherings or relaxing with friends. We’ve camped many times, but in terms of natural beauty, thoughtful hospitality, and overall experience, this is hands-down the best campground we’ve ever stayed at.

This is a group site. It holds up to 100 people and 16-20 vehicles depending if you bring trailers in. It has two bathrooms (4 total) and they are vault toilets. There is lots of area for tents and it’s like mowed wild grass. It sits along the Alsea River. You can float (early season), and also fish (check your regulations). It has a large pavilion for cooking (built in double bbq and a single faucet sink. Lots of large tables and a huge fire pit in the pavilion. Outside there is a giant stone fire pit for plenty to gather around. There are two faucets. No power, or hookups of any kind.

The nightly rate is expensive, but it’s designed for large groups like family reunions, class reunions, corporate retreats, friends/family getaway, you name it. That way it’s very affordable when split amongst a few. It’s a must visit campground. Reservations only, 3 day advance and you can book a year out. It’s very popular and books quickly.

Only 30 minutes to Waldport for all your basic needs or rent a boat for crab/fishjng.
