Tight and little privacy

We stayed here because no state parks were available in the surrounding area. It was our first time at a KOA, and usually we do not stay at RV parks. The people at checkin were super nice and welcoming. The sites are tight, although perhaps if you pay a premium you can get a water-facing or larger site. The restrooms were a bigger disappointment to me. The only bthrooms are 6 combo shower/toilet stalls for the entire campground. If people are showering there are no toilets available. Also, the bathrooms, while appearing somewhat clean are dated. The white shower curtains and one piece fiberglass shower surrounds were not as nice as some Oregon State Parks we stayed in. The campground was quiet with a very narrow trail down to a beach area on the Alsea river. Our neighbor's picnic table was about 4 feet from the side of our Class B. It was OK, and if you don't mind RV parks, it may be a good stop-over place (which is what we did). We won't choose this place again and will definitely think twice about booking another KOA (even though we bought a package to save 10%). For $83 not worth it in our book.

Nice for a one night stop

Yes, you can walk to the beach. A "nature trail" leads down to Alsea Bay. We had the beach to ourselves the night we stayed. You are almost beneath the Hwy 101 bridge that crosses the bay. Nice clean beach with rocks and driftwood.

The campground itself is tidy with a nice office/gift shop and helpful, friendly staff. Pricey though. We don't go to a KOA for privacy. The sites are packed together like at most KOAs. We go for the facilities - clean showers and maybe use the laundromat. Some sites are bigger with chairs and fire pits. We had a smaller one with full hook ups and a picnic table.

It’s ok - no beach though!

The people in the office are fantastic - that’s the pro here. The cons are a bit longer unfortunately. There are a lot of cabins and motorhome sites packed into this little place making it so you are very close to your neighbors- no privacy. The motorhome sites along the view of the bridge are very close together and our site is all gravel so that’s not very desirable either. The last unfortunate thing is that you can’t walk to a beach.

Tent campers avoid

Nice service and location, but tent spots are along highway so all night road noise like a Portland squatter. Poorly laid out campground so avoid if possible.

Great Place

This is the first KOA we've stayed at & we were totally satisfied! The campgrounds were nice & neat & people were friendly. We booked last minute & we're very relieved to find an empty spot! Very thankful for the laundry room... My daughter & I had fun picking blackberries on the nature trail down to the beach area!! Just a short walk to a bridge spanning the river/bay, just beautiful!!

Very nice privacy

We tent camped and LOVED having bushes separate each tent site. Really enjoyed having privacy! Nice little walk down to the bay.

Very Nice KOA

Don’t miss this little gem on the Oregon coast! They have a few full hookup RV sites that have an unbeatable view of Alsea Bay and the Pacific Ocean, but they reserve fast. Clean and private bathrooms and showers, a small laundromat and a great little store that has almost everything that you forgot to bring complete the site. For those with families, there is a playground. Doesn’t get 5 stars because you aren’t allowed to have fires after 10PM.

Great location friendly and clean as a whistle

Great KOA. A little pricey but nice sites. The staff work very hard to make it great! Great views. The showers and bathrooms were always clean. We had nice fires and enjoyed our 10 days there with lots to do nearby. Waldport is okay, Head to Newport for restaurants and stuff.

Bridge view

This campground is located just on the north side of the Waldport bridge. It doesn't offer beach front access, but it is right on the river. With a short walk to the beach. My only gripe is that the tent sites are right on top of each other without much privacy. I'm noticing that is expected with a lot of the KOA's. If you're not spending a lot of time at the site it's not a huge deal anyway. They offer cabins of different sizes, haven't stayed in one as yet, but plan to some day. There is also a small convenient store on site as well as nice clean, hot showers, flush toilets and laundry machines. Very family friendly and a nice scenic view of Walport and inlet.

PROS:

  • convenient store on site
  • Hot showers
  • Cabins and bike rentals

CONS:

  • No beachfront sites
  • Tent pad lack of privacy
  • Price
