GuideBarton Campground has everything you need for a good trip. We stayed in site 91. We had power and water hook ups. The bathrooms in our loop were nice and clean. The kids enjoyed the playground and biking around the loop. The river access down at the day use was lovely. All the park staff were friendly.
It looks like this place used to be maintained to a higher standard. There are remnants of a ton of fun amenities like walking trails, a basketball court, and large day use picnic shelters… but all of the above a pretty overgrown. There’s a cute photo op with a giant Adirondack chair, but the R and the O in “Barton” were missing. 😆 When we went on a walk, we noticed that the only bathroom in the tent loop was out of order. Also, the hose at the dump station wasn’t working…
But if all you need is a campsite with p/w hook ups, clean public restrooms, plenty of space for the kids to play, and sweet access to a beautiful river, Barton Campground would fit the bill!
Fun fact: when we stayed in June 2025, there was a section of the playground marked off with cones and pink tape. Apparently a migratory bird was nesting on the ground so they blocked it off so people wouldn’t disturb it. It was very cool!
GuideAwesome campground. Well maintained. Site spacing is good with lots of privacy between camps. Bathrooms and showers are super nice and clean. Roads and campsites are paved and level. Short drive or hike to the falls.
TravelerEasily accessible from the interstate, but you will hear a fair bit of road noise. No showers/running water that I saw. Despite being half full on a Thursday in June, no one was making much noise. Watch out for poison oak. If you just need a spot to get off the road for the night, this is pretty good.
TravelerThere are 3 easy to find campsites, very easy to find and access. 2 or 3 miles before the gravel road was a commercial campground with a store and very friendly folks inside. The gravel road to the sites was not a problem. The sites were well kept. We felt lucky to find this place.

Your vehicle is not allowed inside the lot but there is usually ample street parking near the gate to get inside.
Stopped for a night during our camping trip so we could still have service for the night to conduct emergency business back home!
TravelerEverything felt very small and close together. Just not for us but doesn't mean it wouldn't work for someone else. Did have trash bins fire rings,restrooms on site basic essentials.
TravelerGreat spot to explore small little camp sites but provide enough privacy. The last two times we have been out there the campground has been open but it says it's closed on here. Not sure if it just needs to be updated or if it's not supposed to be open? We stayed somewhere else last visit because all the sites were full. Bathrooms have not been unlocked each time and no phone service available.
