Reservations are available at this private farm campsite outside Buxton, where the $45 nightly rate covers access to a site with a fire pit, picnic table, and a portable toilet in a bathroom tent. The access road has a reputation for being rough, so drivers should plan accordingly before arriving. Cell service is listed as available, and firewood can be purchased on-site.
The campsite sits adjacent to a pond stocked with ducks and a resident turtle, and the surrounding property includes goats, chickens, cows, turkeys, and rabbits. Farm noise is part of the experience here. As Alma F. puts it, the stay was "peaceful except for the animals." Statues are placed around the pond area, and reviewers note the hosts are attentive and helpful. That said, the single campsite sits close to the main road and the hosts' driveway, and some visitors have found road traffic more frequent than expected for a rural location.
L.L. Stub Stewart State Park Campground lies about 1.8 miles northwest, offering a larger developed option in the same forested corridor for campers who want more infrastructure. This farm retreat makes the most sense for campers who want animal interaction and a low-key overnight stop, and who can tolerate variable noise and a site layout that prioritizes proximity to the pond over distance from the road.
