Battle Ground Lake State Park Campground

This campground isn’t near some major hwy so you don’t hear car noise. Yes, you hear people playing on the lake but that is to be expected. The campsite was clean and raked upon arrival too! They have a camp store open for snacks and they have flushable bathrooms!

Stayed here for one night on spring break with my grandsons. Fishing, hiking, sup or kayaking if you’re interested in it. The lake is small but awesome. Bald eagles flying overhead. Close to Battleground Washington.

I really enjoyed this campground and had a beautiful spot (see pics). We originally were assigned #1 and that was literally next to the parking lot. Because of a mix up (a car was parked in our spot) the ranger let us move to site #35. He was really nice! The campground host who greeted us upon arrival was friendly too. We came to this campground with friends on the first summer-weather like weekend. The lake was nice and just a little walk from the campsite. The only drawback and reason for 3 stars is the boulders in front of campsites. If you were in a tent no problem because everything would be on one side. The issue is that they are between the fire pit/picnic table and your rv/trailer! I fell over one in the dark and a camper in a group scratched his leg.

This is a great little cozy location. Many beginner trails. Clean and respectful staff. However the parking machine was not working when o arrived.

Battle Ground Lake is a lovely campground, improved and organized, not wild.  But perfect for quick 'base camp' getaways.

The lake is popular and provides lots of activities.  I saw people fishing kayaking and more.

I camped at site 46 and had a *wonderful* pair of trees for my hammock rig.  

Currently, fires are permitted, but wood isn't available for purchase, so you need to plan ahead and bring it in.

Rolled in January 1st. Self pay. About 5 sites with power and water. We got a nice level one. There are only 5 other sites in the whole campground occupied. Short walk to the lake to fish. Beautiful and quiet... And 25 degrees.

This campground is on a small lake with lots of trails around and play area for kids. It feels like you are really deep in the woods. Road is a little tight if you have a big rig and lots of potholes.

The clear lake nestled next to the campground is a nice addition with its trails and available activities. The sites have ample trees for people privacy and clean facilities

The campground is nice but the lake is gross. You can go swimming, canoeing/kayaking, and fishing in it if you want. The water is really dirty and the fish (trout) taste like dirt.

Sites are fairly large and private. Nice little hike around the small lake. Good swimming area, park, and community spaces to use. Bathrooms are quite unkept but it has flushing toilets and a shower.

It was one of the best camping spots we've been to. There was a lot of hiking trails a lake for swimming and fishing and far enough away from the city that you didn't hear any of the noise or have any of the lights from the city impeding on stargazing! We had a great time!

Friendly nice camp host

We tent camped at a drive-in site (8) in October 2020 and loved our experience. The whole campground felt small and peaceful, the tent sites were well spaced and surrounded by trees. It seemed to be popular with families and there were quite a few kids riding their bikes around the loop. The walk around the lake was beautiful and quiet - we did not pass many people at all.

I think next time we’ll try the walk-in sites for the privacy and the above view of the lake.

You can tell that the park is much appreciated. I think the walk in and drive in campground sites are very nice. I really enjoyed hiking the trails . I did find out it can be a challenge to get a shower since there’s only one stall and that there isn’t anything to hang your clothes or towel on. So I took a couple hooks with me and I went for it at 4:00 am in the morning, that’s when one of the big potholes full of water got me. The only other very minor issue I had was seeing some boards in the lake that look like they’ve been there for awhile. This is my favorite park near the city.

Pristine campsites and beautiful cool lake that’s not far from the city. Good trails and plenty of space. The only thing to keep in mind is that you have to park down below and walk to the site, the furthest ones being over a quarter mile away.

One of the best State parks for camping. Well manicured sites. Plenty of privacy. Great fishing! Trout, bass, blue gill.. swimming area. Store on sites. Nice hike around lake with plenty of spots to rest and fish. Rope swing. Very popular.

Love that it is close to town and you feel like you are out in the woods.

The campsites are spread out and private. There are tent sites, RV sites, and cabins. Quiet lake with two trails around it.

This park has it all, camping, fishing, hiking swimming, playground, horse trails!

Battle ground lake is a perfect getaway!

Battleground is a nice and well loved state park not far from Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington. The part itself centers around a clear caldera lake with tent camping, RV camping, cabins, trails, group sites, and the like. The lake is also frequently stocked, and fishing is popular. Not motorized boats, but plenty of kayaks and rafts. There is a small camp store with snacks and fishing supplies on-site. Campground is well appointment with showers, water, etc.

Hiking around the lake is fun. And well a crowded park, it is easy to sneak away to a quiet spot. Some cabins and campsites have nice views overlooking the lake. The town of battleground is nearby with restaurants, grocery stores, and any you might have forgotten.

This campground has lots of tent sites, and some cabins. There’s a swim area roped off, and a small sand area for the kids to play. Bathrooms are throughout the campground. Also has day use areas. There are two hikes around the lake; an upper, and a lower one. Both are easy hikes, and are dog and kid friendly. There’s a seasonal store with a window you can order bait, snacks, etc. There is a ramp to take your small boats to, and fishing around the lake.

Pros: Good lake to swim in, smaller state park so not too busy, kayaks you can rent, small playground if you have kids, pet frIendly cabIn I stayed In was faIrly secluded Cons: because it’s smaller, kids on bikes were on the road often so you have to be aware, only one shower stall in the restrooms

BGLSP is a really lovely park not too far from Portland with camping and rustin cabins. Most of the campsites are large enough for 2 tents, and there were many RVs and popups - good size driveways/parking areas. Cabins C17 and C21 were the most private, though C13 and C15 had a partial view of the lake. Campsites 19 and 20 were really tucked back and adjoined such that two groups could spread out. There is only one bathroom for the entire camping/cabin area, and it got pretty dirty/crowded at times, so that wasn't ideal. I would also recommend checking out the water quality information before going if you plan to do water sports or swimming. There was a high bacteria advisory when we went, so swimming was discouraged. We ended up going to nearby Klineline Pond to swim instead. There is a nice little concession stand, though, and they offer SUP and kayak rentals that looked nice.

Pros:

Battle Ground Lake State Park Campground has a wonderful choice of campsites. I hiked in with a group of 4 and we looked at all the different campsites. Some campsites had a beautiful view, some had smooth ground, some had nice hikes around it, and some had more! We chose one with a beautiful view, smooth ground, nice hikes, and a perfect place for a hammock! There was also a very nice beach right next to it that you could swim and fish in.

Cons:

When we got there, we were told that the water can be quite dirty. But we saw everyone still swimming! So we did a little swimming to see what it was like and the water was fine! So if they tell you that, just swim anyway. Also, the bathrooms were disgusting. They do have showers that were fine, but some of the toilets were gross.

All in all, Battle Ground Lake State Park Campground was a pretty nice place!

This little camp ground was great for a two night stay. Lots of hiking near by.

We have had our family reunion here since about '78. Love this place and have been in several sites. Also a very popular day use especially with the lake on hot days. There is no gas power boating allowed.

The 'lake' is filthy, and most seasons it is too contaminated to swim in. The campground has no electricity, and the public restrooms are cleaned very infrequently. We quit camping there a few years ago, because of the garbage, contaminated water, and obnoxious drunken campers who were not made to leave. There are so many other awesome campgrounds in Washington--skip this one!
