Best Campgrounds near Pryor Creek, OK

This is a great area by the river. It is a bird watcher’s paradise, and we saw a lot of people fishing. There is a boat access area as well. We did camp there in a tent for one night, but were politely told by a game warden the next day that, though it used to be open for that, it is no longer allowed. It is open to the public only during the day. There are still signs up showing tent camping, but they are apparently inaccurate. We had a great time and he welcomed us to stick around and hang out for the day, but no more camping. I was able to see multiple species of Oklahoma’s woodpeckers, some birds of prey, and many songbirds. Go during the day! Still worth it, even if you camp elsewhere.

I was surprised the RV spots weren’t in a gated area as was my experience with other Loves RV spots. It was a little noisy being right off the interstate. Ran my generator at night no issue. Slept well and unbothered. Use of the communal dump is included. Shower inside Loves discounted from $18 to $10 but you’ll need to book inside with the cashier to use the discount as opposed to checking in for the shower on your phone.

Small and only 5 spots, we were the only spot taken all night. Somewhat pricey for what they offer but it’s easy to access.

I live east of the dam and ofter go there to walk. It is a nice park but small. It is well maintained and clean. I think the information needs to be updated. All the flood damage is fixed. All in all it's a nice park. Not sure about bathrooms and showers but the outside is very clean. The river is dangerous but pretty to look at. I understand there is great fishing there. You can go swimming on the southwest side of the dam and up a little ways. There is a bar/restaurant across the river but I've never been inside.

Landed here during Memorial Day last spring and it wasn't the best experience.  The RV FHU sites in the Deer Run campground are on top of one another.  We had a neighbor's picnic table maybe a foot or two at best from the slide out side window who proceeded to burn trash in their firepit the entire weekend.  So the smell and being stacked on top of one another were huge dampers to the weekend.  Seems like a nice location and perhaps the other campgrounds aren't so packed together.

We stayed in the north end of the Choctaw Campground, nearest the converted cabin and heated showerhouse. All facilities (water, toilets, info) were open and working. On arrival we booked a spot and had no issues with internet to do so. Rangers came through daily, but no sign of camp host over the Thanksgiving weekend. We were the only tent visitors until our last night when two additional campers arrived. The trails were great aside from some glass that appeared to wash in a long the lower nature trail, which was a concern for our dog so we went to take the fitness trail back. The sunset view from south of the lodge was worth the wait. Nature Center staff were more helpful than the info center, on top of a super educational and fun tour they held even in the chilly wind. Cons - There seemed to be less parking than spots, waterside spots definitely had signs of being washed out this season around the picnic tables, and overall it was hard to spot some numbers on spots. Spots were mostly crowded, would not come to this site in a peak season.

Yes people need to PICK UP THEIR TRASH!   WE WERE TAUGHT THAT IN KINDERGARTEN?  

Otherwise it's beautiful. I don't stay at the waterfall. That's for kids. I go upstream it's deeper, I'm scouting it for future diving trips. 

I'll update as soon as I get in the water with my gear. But I'll def need a 7mm probly with a  Shorty on top since I don't have a dry suit. But this water is CLEAR. amd that's what's impressive. Find clear water in oklahoma isnt easy especially if your a diver. 

The trash thing is real, that's why I always take extra trash bags and do good.

We love to camp here . Although it is usually pretty full so if it's peace and quiet you are looking for this might not be the place for you mainly on the holidays. And I don't like the fact that they raised the price to $15 night primitive sites. It was free just couple yrs ago. Kids love to swim and float when they aren't fishing.

We stopped for an overnight stay on the way home to Texas.

Total for one night stay was $31.25.

Site was very large, with enough room for our 35+ foot 5th wheel and F350.

Pad is gravel and was level. 

Had water, sewer and power hook ups at site.

Campground was quiet at night.

Location is well taken care of and was a nice stop.

Very nice and spacious sites with lots of trees and shade. Good hiking and views of the falls. Unless you’re a fan of oval dirt track racing, most Friday and Saturday nights in the summer and fall are pretty loud until after 11:00 at night.

Stayed here while we went to Strawberry Festival in Stilwell. Very convenient to highway 412 and Siloam Springs. Hosts very friendly and helpful. New park, nothing fancy but a work in progress reasonably priced. Met our needs. Great location next to Illinois River if you want to kayak. Lots of open area to tent camp. Very secluded. Loved watching fireflies over the hayfield.

This was a really nice campground with easy walks to some beautiful scenery! Flat pads with nice tables/grills/fire pits. Sites 3/4/11-14 have a lot more room so we’d probably pick one of those next time. There is a racetrack near by that was so loud we couldn’t hear each other talking from 6-11pm on Friday night which made it difficult to put our baby to bed. We’d love to go back but will definitely pick a weekend without a race next time.

I go here with my friends every summer we hike almost all the trails , it’s gorgeous last time I went there (summer of 23) we saw a wild river otter swimming there is so much wildlife out there and it’s just gorgeous absolutely stunning and worth visiting, family friends and dog / pet friendly if you want to take your dogs on a hike this is the place , has stairs and is not very handicapped accessible if you want to go to the bottom of the falls but it is completely accessible for a wheelchair if you just want to view the falls from the top and there are multiple handicapped accessible paved paths !
