ScoutWas camping here for a horse fair and loved being able to walk to the barns and festival grounds. Laundry, showers, bathrooms on-site and security code locked. It's got electric, sewer, and trash. It's not really a destination if your looking for a camping experience around the fire pit and fishing. It's concrete, some grass and trees and is what it's meant for, a place to stay overnight and do your business at the fair grounds.
TravelerWe had a great time camping here! It was beautiful and clean. The bathrooms and showers were always clean and fresh. The only downside is that they don’t have water hookups at the sites. You can connect your hose to the nearest spigot but you better hope it’s long enough. The water was really high so fishing was so so. The dam is right across the road pretty much and the recreation area is nice. A couple trails with a few options.

RangerWe love the location, boat ramp, park toilets and showers. However, the fire ants are a severe problem. The ants prevent us from playing in our campground area and the kids have to play in the street or gravel. If you stand in one place too long, you get bit - regardless of trying to avoid them. Just seems like severe infestation - would be nice if the park would do something to mitigate. It’s hard to invite friends and family out to the lake to visit at the campsite or go out on the boat - when even loading the boat becomes an issue with getting stung by the ants.

However, our site, No. 6, is right on the road and people drive ATVs up and down the road at all hours of the night. Like, for real, ALL HOURS. They were doing it at 3am. We would love this campground if it were anywhere else away from this road.
ScoutWe stayed at site 76. Nice quiet park with easy access and reasonable facilities. Bathrooms are a bit rough, but functional. Site included 30a receptacle, 20a receptacle, water and sewer. Water is a bit far from pedestal, bring more than 25' of hose.

ScoutIf you are looking for a nice place on the Illinois River to camp, float the river, set shuttle or just hang out, this is a very nice place. You will enjoy the privacy compared to other campgrounds in the area that have large crowds. Book early as it fill up fast and they do not offer more than one or two spaces per day. The campsites are large and open with lots of shade trees and could easily accommodate much larger groups if needed . Be careful when camping, as it is near the river and if the water gets high, you will need to move up to the higher bank.
