    Ottawa Metro Park Campground

Nice, clean campground, adjoining a big greenway

Very clean and pleasant campground, not far off the interstate. A 13_mile Greenway passes by there. Very nice bath and shower house. All sites paved with water and electric. Great place to spend a night or two.

Grand Lake St. Marys State Park — Grand Lake St Marys State Park

    One nighter

We were just passing through for one night and we’d been there before but this is a new site to us. It had a decent level pad and plenty deep enough for our camper and tow vehicle. The site has a large side and backyard with a great view of the lake. The shower house was just a short walk. Check in was easy and so was finding our site.

    Sun Valley Family Campground

    Clean facilities, poor book keeping

Making the reservation didn’t go very smooth, the person taking the information didn’t sound like they knew what they were doing… They charged our credit card, and lost our reservation, however they did honor our word and allowed us to camp. The bathrooms and showers were clean. The camping area had portable toilets that were clean! For just overnight it was OK, not a place I would vacation at.

    Lake Loramie State Park Campground

    Pretty lake. Parking lot campground

First, the lake here is beautiful. It has many islands, coves and inlets and is perfect for a couple of days of paddling or fishing. That's where the two stars come in.

BUT. There are many buts. The campground is like a giant RV lot. The sites are tiny. We were in a tent-only site and we had two families right on top of us on either side. We could hear the entire conversations of one family, plus there were 11 people there, three cars, and they were partying the first night and extremely noisy.

The reservation map is incorrect. When I reserved, it showed #13 as being on the end of the tent only area. When we arrived, I found out there was a site #14 that wasn't even pictured on the reservation map, and this is where the giant screaming family was parked! I thought I was going to be on the end- it is not very accommodating for a variety of reasons for a reservation map to be so incorrect.

The air everywhere reeks of sewage, ranging from what you smell outside a giant pig farm, to what you smell outside of a porta potty, to rotten egg smell. I don't know where these smells were coming from but it was nonstop.

The bathrooms were extremely dirty. It looks like they haven't been renovated since the 80s.

The employees in the office never seemed to be able to tell us what we needed to know. We asked on Friday evening where the Saturday morning naturalist paddle would be, and we were told to come back Saturday morning and ask someone else. On Saturday, the person in the office told us to go to a location that was miles away- we spent 40 minutes in the car driving around, trying to find where this activity was, only to give up and find out it was actually adjacent to the campground, not down the road in a different part of the park.

Last, the lake is in the middle of a residential neighborhood. You can see houses around the edge of the park while you are sitting in your campsite. It is not remote, and there is a noisy, busy highway running along the side of the campground.

I enjoyed the lake but I will not camp here again.

Arrowhead Lake RV Park & Campground

    Pretty Nice + Cheap

Sites are large for the weekend campers. The seasonal ones all have back in and the weekends are pull through which is kinda nice. They have two ponds, one for fishing and one for swimming. The swimming one has a dock kids jump off but it only goes to about 3.5-4 feet deep at the deepest point. Overall a pretty nice camping spot. Oh and it was only $45 a night.

    Grandpas Farm Camp Ground

    Needed a quick overnight …

Pulled in at 9:15pm, pulled out at 5:15am the next morning. The woman running the campground was helpful on the phone when we called a couple hours earlier, and had our pull through spot ready to go. Bathhouse was on the primitive side but very clean. The pool, playground, and gaming covered shelter were closed for the evening, but were clearly in excellent condition. Would be a great place to stay longer if we’re ever back in the area!

    Dayton KOA Holiday

    Clean and well managed

I was impressed that this KOA had so many trees. Best tent sites are 320 and the ones next to the creek. Quietest tent sites are 408, 409 and 410, but those are also furthest from the bathroom. Very clean showerhouses. Great basecamp to explore the Dayton area.

    Stillwater Beach Campground

    Don't waste your time.

The new owners of Stillwater Beach does not care about the local community nor do they care about family values. They are only interested in lining their own pockets with your hard earned money. Just ask the 150 campers that left this campgrounds within 4 months of them taking it over.

    Indian Lake State Park Campground

Nice park but check in online is miserable

The online reservation system is clumsy to use at best. And you have to make a reservation. And reserving adds another $6.50. The campground is nice, clean restrooms and showers. Plenty of shade The whole process of trying to check in just made me wish I was at work instead.

    Okay

It had the facilities, but we were unimpressed with the service when booking, price quoted at reservation and online was different to price charged and we were placed right by the dump ground

    Poor Farmer's Campground

    Wonderful, quick stay

We were just passing through for a night, but this was a beautiful, and friendly spot to stay for the night.

Most of the sites are electric hookup only, some are electric and water, but we got a full hookup site, which was what we were hoping for. The bathhouse was clean, and well lit.

The sunset last night was simply fabulous.

They are also an rv service center, and have a shop with parts, if you need them.

    So peaceful

Stopped here for the night on a road trip. It was the best decision to make! It is such a nice peaceful campground! The sites were nicely spaced along with a wonderful bathroom. Its definitely one of the nicest campgrounds I have ever been to!

    Archway Campground

    Nice overnight campsite

The site was nice, level, had a small picnic table and wooden deck.

Set up early afternoon, sat in our reclining chairs and enjoyed the breeze.

The bathrooms are old, run down and not clean. The showers had mold and stains, ceiling tiles missing or hanging down. Toilets had blowouts in both of them (day of arrival and the next day). The sink area had missing caulk and very dirty.

It looks like it was a nice place at one time, but needs some TLC. The pavilion needs paint and some boards replaced.

    Ouabache State Park Campground

    Camp sites are tiny

Camp sites are tiny. We had site 88 and it was supposed to be full shade. It was full sun and they have it set up so the camp side of the trailer faces the road. The fire pit is also three feet from the road. Who wants to have a fire next to the road?

  • Camper-submitted photo from Buck Creek State Park Campground

    Buck Creek State Park Campground

    Leaves some to be desired

It's easy to get there. The non-electric sites don't have a lot of space or privacy (ie; trees) between them, definitely no hammocking. There's also a private camper's beach that is absolutely serene, probably not safe to swim in. Due to it being a holiday weekend, it was busy & loud like you'd expect, but it was so rowdy we left early. When we showed up, someone dumped all their trash in our firepit, absolutely disgusting behavior. Two different camp groups, one in electric and one in non-electric, got into loud verbal fights that resulted in the police being called. Fireworks and loud music were played all night long. No quiet hours, or if there are any they're not enforced. It's still great for a night visit if you're in the area, but it's not a dream weekend getaway by any means.

    Sky Lake Resort and Fishing

    Serenity

We  stayed in the Tiny Home they had available to rent. It was well maintained. The patio had a grill and table with a fire pit that overlooked one of the lakes. They even had board games for our family to play (how thoughtful).  The park is quiet and the grounds are clean. They also have a new bait house that has snacks, drinks, bait and tackle.

    Good trails

We enjoyed our stay here. The park has great trails for hiking and biking. The bison exhibit and ranger programs are great too. The campsites are variable, size and privacy definitely depends on the site you book. The potable water is brown and smelly.. be sure to bring your water filter! But we did enjoy our weekend here.
