Heritage Farms provides tent camping on a working Christmas tree farm within Cuyahoga Valley National Park, offering a distinctive setting for pets and their owners. This walk-in campground features widely spaced grassy sites with picnic tables and fire rings, each situated among growing Christmas trees. Campers park near the entrance and use provided wagons to transport gear to their sites. The campground maintains clean porta-potties near the main building, and while no drinking water is available on-site, wash water is provided. Leashed pets are welcome throughout the property, with plenty of open space for dogs to enjoy supervised walks. Each site includes firewood with the camping fee, and campers note the campground feels safe and private despite being just half a mile from the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail.
Big Bend Trailhead Primitive Camping in Summit Metro Parks offers free, first-come first-served camping specifically designed for hikers and cyclists with pets. Located just off the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath in northern Akron, these rustic dispersed sites can accommodate 5-6 small tents on a hillock above the parking area, providing good privacy despite the urban setting. No picnic tables or fire rings are provided, and campfires are prohibited. Clean pit toilets, drinking water, and trash receptacles are available about 50 yards down the hill from the camping area. The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad runs just below the campsite, though trains don't operate at night. Campers can easily access downtown Akron's dining options and the historic Mustill Store Museum at Lock 15. The campground's proximity to walking trails makes it ideal for exercising dogs, though all pets must remain leashed within the park system.

Beautiful fall camping biking hiking kayaking.... Looking forward to coming back
Simple site with hookups. For the price, I didn't expect much. The hosts were friendly and got me in last minute despite coming in their last weekend of the year. It's about an hour from Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Sadly didnt get more pictures from the campground, aside from a frosty picnic table.
This is the cleanest park we've ever used! The bathroom is tidy; the showers are roomy and convenient to use. There is a nice playground for younger kids as well as a pickleball court and basketball court for teens and adults. There also is a pleasant hiking trail. We stayed in Site 42, a concrete site, which was fantastic for my spouse's mobility issues. The sites are not super spaced apart, but, with the graduated elevation, we didn't feel smashed together. We visited Amish Country to absorb the beautiful fall scenery, to shop at local stores, and to relax by a campfire in the evening . The campground was perfect for us. If you're seeking a wilderness adventure , this park is not for you .
Well maintained campground with friendly staff. Super spacious and clean bathhouse. Close to Berlin and Millersburg for exploring Amish country. Some road noise due to location on main highway.
We arrived in the evening after reserving our spot earlier. We selected a non-electric site that as near the entrance and despite a surprising number of campers on a Wednesday, it was quiet and peaceful.
Very well maintained and a visible presence of security and maintenance personnel who were friendly and helpful.
A very nice way to start our car camping trip.
This park is off the beaten path and filled mostly with Full Timers in beautiful landscaped sites. But room for overnighters like us. All sites have electric and water. The laundry is small, only 1 working washer, but it came in handy. The bathrooms have free showers but could use a deep cleaning. Big open field for the dog to play
We stayed in the fall for one night to visit Cuyahoga Valley Park (about 25 minutes away, as is a Costco). Many choices for short term sites. From the many permanent RVs and water slides in the pond, looks like it could be less quiet other times of year and a fun place for kids (we weren’t traveling with any). Staff nice and helpful but showers were old and dirty, probably in part to the high iron in the water (we didn’t hook up water).
We were passing through on a weeknight in mid September. Many open sites. Sites are paved and many are sloped. Most are shaded. Our site #41 was fairly level with electricity. Close to huge bathhouse with flush toilets, showers and laundry. High above the lake with views through the trees. Appeared there were many long term campers but just as good for our short overnight stay. Online registration. $45 for electric only site.
We’ve stayed here several times over the years and it’s always a pleasant experience. Lots of seasonal campers, but most are only in residence on the weekends. During the week we have the place to ourselves. Clean facilities, the standard picnic table and fire ring. Incredible sunsets, lake breeze and nothing but the crashing of the waves to lull you into a peaceful nights rest.
Silver Springs Campground serves as a convenient basecamp for outdoor enthusiasts with pets near Bath, Ohio. Located in Stow, this city-operated facility provides 25 sites within a wooded setting just 20 minutes from Cuyahoga Valley National Park. The campground sits at approximately 1,050 feet elevation and maintains seasonal operation from April through October, with summer temperatures typically ranging between 70-85°F.
Explore dog-friendly trails: Silver Springs Campground features "THE best dog park I have ever seen in this area. So my dogs loved this campground more than me and that was worth it," according to Kate W. The park includes "a wooded walking trail network on the east and North sides of the campground" as noted by Gary G.
Fish at nearby lakes: At Willow Lake Park Inc, visitors enjoy both fishing and swimming lakes. Jack K. explains the layout: "Fishing lake and swimming lake are separate. Multiple bathroom/shower locations. Game room, snack pavilion and general store."
Visit Cuyahoga Valley National Park: The proximity to the national park makes camping in Bath ideal. Gary G. mentions that Silver Springs Campground earned "an extra star for proximity to Cuyahoga Valley NP, bargain price for a site with electric hookups, quiet setting and helpful hosts."
Spacious sites: At Heritage Farms, Abbey E. notes, "Our site was beautiful and private. We also had a lot of space. We couldn't really see or hear any other campers." This provides good separation between camping parties.
Clean facilities: Campers consistently mention well-maintained bathrooms in the area. At Countryside Campground, Joe F. reports that "Well kept smaller campground. Kids trick or treated and all campers were very friendly," highlighting the community atmosphere.
Quiet surroundings: Many campgrounds offer peace despite proximity to urban areas. At Silver Springs, Abbey E. shares, "It was dark enough to see a space station cross the sky at night." Similarly, Sharon J. notes at Streetsboro-Cleveland SE KOA, "Sites were gravel and level. We enjoyed full hookups. Curb trash pickup is always a little plus."
Reservation timing: Popular campgrounds fill quickly. At Findley State Park Campground, Jeffrey L. advises, "If you're planning a holiday weekend you need to book 6 months in advance."
Site variations: Campsite quality varies significantly. Gary G. explains at Silver Springs, "Our first visit at site #1 was very difficult to level a 24 ft trailer and full sun. Returned a few weeks later to site #4, was much more level and full shade."
Water quality concerns: Some campgrounds have water issues. Derek N. warns at Willow Lake Park, "I'm not sure what's up with the water, but it smells like metal and you're probably better off bringing your own drinking water."
Look for pet-friendly activities: Families with dogs should seek campgrounds with dedicated pet areas. Judy F. recommends Silver Springs for its "Fantastic dog park with a swimming beach for dogs only. Fun to watch them play even if you don't have a dog."
Choose sites with playground access: Streetsboro-Cleveland SE KOA offers family-friendly amenities. Christy D. describes it as having a "playground, big open area and a nice pool! Perfect!" for family camping trips.
Pack for variable weather: Ohio weather can change rapidly. Karla J. B. recounts at Silver Springs, "We met some of our neighbors as we sheltered in the bathrooms during a tornado warning," highlighting the need for weather preparedness when camping with children.
Check electrical service: Electric hookups vary between campgrounds. Coy mentions at Punderson State Park Campground, "Very few full hookups. Rest of the sites only have 15-20 amp service," which is insufficient for many larger RVs.
Verify site leveling: Uneven sites can cause problems. Coy continues, "The lots are not even close to level. You will need a lot of blocks to get close to level. Saw one RV with auto levelers with his tire about foot off the ground."
Consider road conditions: Access can be challenging at some locations. Daniel U. describes Punderson as having "Really cool 'hill' sites that you have to hike up or down 20-100 feet to your wooded site," which may limit RV placement options.
