Hikers, cyclists, and paddlers heading into the Canal Fulton Canoe Livery & Campground corridor will find Rivers Edge a useful staging point along the Tuscarawas River. The dispersed grassy field fits roughly six to eight small tents. No drinking water is on-site, but a fountain on the towpath sits about half a mile north. Camping is free, a pit toilet is available in the adjacent parking lot, and cell service is present. Well-suited to self-sufficient hikers and cyclists traveling the towpath.

Many campers appreciated this free dispersed camping area near the towpath trail, with guests frequently mentioning clean facilities and nice grassy sites. Water must be obtained from nearby sources.

Great location

Great access close to parking lot with privacy between you and the trail. Right alongside the river with a picnic table and firepit. Portable toilet in parking lot. No running water but close to gas stations and restaurants. Only 12 minute drive over to Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Great camp site

The camp site is a short walk and was very nice. The porta potty was very big, clean and had hand sanitizer! In the morning there were many runners in the park but they stayed away from the camping area.

Free but Lots of Road Noise

Shhhhhh…these campsites seem to be the best kept secret! Located near the Bridgeport Quarry Trailhead about 2.5 miles north of Massillon, OH in the Stark County Parks District. These sites are specifically designed for hikers/cyclists. Camping is dispersed in a small grassy field and is FREE! There is room for maybe 6-8 small backcountry tents. There is one picnic table, campfire ring, and a small cooking prep area for the whole area.

Just across the towpath, you will find a pit toilet in the parking lot. There is no drinking water available, so plan a head from nearby sources. About ½ mile north of this camping area is a cross street where you will find drinking water fountain on the towpath. And, just about 1.5 miles south along the towpath, you will find Ernie’s Bicycle Shop (super helpful staff) which has both restrooms and drinking water. On the same property, you’ll find a Canoe Livery to rent canoes to use on the adjacent Tuscarawas River.

Reservations are not necessary as it is first-come, first-served, but they want you to register at the kiosk and call the listed number when you arrive.
