Roan Mountain State Park

The staff is great, all public areas are clean and organized. The facilities are nice, but you might want to look at your site first if you can. There are some places that big rigs will not fit into, and some you won't be able to get to. Some of the sites, the picnic table, fire pit, and grill…

Classic NC State park

We visited in April. Beautiful days hiking nearby, cold nights. Pet friendly. Pretty clean bath house. Visitors center nearby. Sites were mostly level, with gravel, fire pit, picnic table. Some were classically wooded, shady and some in the bright sun. Cute small town nearby.

Nice, clean campground!

Overall, Paddy's Creek is really nice. The bath house seems nearly new & clean. The sites are all nicely taken care of, & even though they're a little close together there are enough trees to separate them. Also, down the hill ~100 yards, through the forest, was a nice little private…

Hiking, blueway, clean showers!

The 221 access had everything we needed. There were sites with full hookups and sites with just electric. Most sites were really private which is nice. The park is spread out over several different, disconnected properties throughout the county which offered a lot of different recreational…

Perfect for Families

Family-friendly campground with plenty of fun activities for kids. Playground, fishing pond, disc golf, recreation and game area, and ice cream trailer. Our site was nicely shaded and fairly level. Fire pit and picnic table at each site. There appears to be a lot of long-term residents but all…

Wonderful park!

We are currently camping for 5 nights here. Booked our campsite a day in advance; I think we got lucky with a cancellation. We are here during a lot of rain from Ida but it's so beautiful and peaceful.

On a non rainy day, we did 5 hikes to explore the mountain. On a rainy day, we went to Miller…

Neat spot!

This is a really chill spot near Boone. We stayed in one of the tipis, and it was an awesome glamping experience

The bathrooms were clean.

Everyone staying here was really nice and chill. It feels a little hippie which is neat.

If you’re pulling a camper, the road would be a little rough, but…

New River Delight

Primarily this was a quick get a away for us for a few days. Great internet at site 4. Sites with full hookups: 3, 7, [8, 12, 13, 14, 15 near bath house] 18, 19, 20 Bath house was nice and clean. Canoe up camp sites right along the River. Nice amenity; there are a few buggies provided at primitive…

Excellent First Camping Experience

I had determined that this campground was the perfect distance and look to host my first ever outing. I was nervous and excited as I rolled up to the park.

The visitor center staff were welcoming and assisted in securing the few last-minute items that I needed (firewood, ice, popcorn). The…

Get what you pay for

Pros: Free, many sites with water access for kayaking/fishing, fire rings, parking lot close to sites. Cons: Lots of road noise-- you're sitting in a valley bordered by highway on 3 sides, and the echo is serious. Trash everywhere making some sites unusable. Lots of poison ivy.

So, if it's worth…

Holidays here are GREAT!

Halloween is awesome here, plan on a solid week here to see things in the area. Gem mines, waterfalls, brewery and shopping in nearby Asheville. There is plenty to do year round, make sure to buy a family pass for games etc. they really cater to family oriented fun. The tent sights high up require…

Awesome lake & campsite! Paddy's Creek area drive-in site

Snagged a site in the Paddy's Creek area last minute not thinking to check the weather... but we had a great time despite the storms!

Lake James is huge and gorgeous, and the beach swimming area is really nice! Kids had a blast in the nice clear water on a HOT August day & got to watch…

Beautiful!

RMSP is a beautiful state park. The campground is relatively remote. Many of the sites are on a hill, which can make backing in a trailer a challenge. The sites are mostly shaded. Bathrooms are clean, and hot showers are free.
