"We camped here to check out the mountain bike trails in the park and we're not disappointed on either count. The campground is nice and spacious, well kept and the staff is friendly. **Lake access sites: Waterfront camping at Pawtuckaway State Park Campground provides direct water access. "The sites on the water book up quickly but they're perfect for fishing and boating. Also, the view!" explains J L. Sites 110 and 109 on Big Island are particularly recommended for their lake views.
**Spacious wooded sites: Lorraine Park Campground at Harold Parker State Forest offers secluded camping under tall trees. "The site are huge with space in between. They keep the bathrooms very clean. **Playground access: Consider site location relative to play areas. At Bear Brook State Park, "If you want to be close to the play area, site 90 or the ones on the loop behind it are better options. I'd avoid site 93 because it is so close to the playground and the fire ring placement makes it seem like families enjoying the playground will be tempted to walk through your site," advises Jean C.
**Entertainment options: Wakeda Campground offers family-friendly activities near Hampton Beach. "We stayed for a night as a getaway. Already planning our next trip back. Very friendly staff and very friendly neighbors," says Patrick F. The campground includes amenities like miniature golf and a game room.
**Swimming options: Lorraine Park Campground provides natural swimming opportunities. "Convenient location, but still let's you get away. Nice wooded sites," reports Randy R. Nearby Harold Parker State Forest features multiple ponds suitable for swimming during summer months.
Tips from RVers
**Site access considerations: Bear Brook State Park's narrow roads require careful navigation. "I was in site 38 and found that the little loop to my campsite was tight to exit (I was towing a 14' teardrop, not a big trailer) and I had to be careful to swing wide at the corner," explains Jean C. Larger rigs should request sites along main campground roads.
**Hookup positioning: Salisbury Beach State Reservation has unusual utility placement. "The electrical post and water hookup were placed way behind our site and we could not reach even with our 40' electrical cord. Park staff told us we could back onto the grass in order to reach the electric," shares Nancy W. Sites are paved and level despite this inconvenience.
