Paddle on Paugus Bay: Rent kayaks at Clearwater Campground where rentals are "super cheap and easy to do!" The lake beach is "fantastic, very nicely maintained" with direct water access for fishing enthusiasts.
Hike White Mountain trails: Access multiple hiking trails from Waterville Campground which sits near "5 - 4000 foot mountains to hike" and offers pine-needle floored sites. The campground connects to a path leading "straight down to the river, which we can hear running from the tents at night."
Tubing on the river: The Pemigewasset River wraps around Branch Brook Campground "making it a great place to go tubing." This campground features three large fields available for rent and provides multiple river access points.

Seasonal swimming options: Both indoor and outdoor swimming venues are available throughout the region. At Clearwater Campground, "The indoor pool on the other side of the road at the sister campground Meredith Woods (both campgrounds accessible for campers) was splendid. I love the idea of being able to go swimming even if the weather is a bit crummy."
Spacious sites: White Lake State Park Campground offers "large sites, level, with gravel packed in around the circle fire rings." Sites here have "plenty of trees to get a good tarp, and lots of options for hammock placement."
Fishing opportunities: Many campgrounds offer excellent fishing access. At Clearwater Campground, one camper noted "my husband could not put a hook in without catching something." The lakes and rivers throughout the Center Harbor region provide diverse fishing environments.
What you should know
Seasonal variations: Camping conditions change dramatically with seasons. Fall camping at Branch Brook "is nothing short of magical. We just happened to book a trip right at peak season for fall foliage.... the colors were absolutely unreal." Winter camping requires preparation as some campgrounds have "a bad job plowing" and may not "salt or sand anywhere on the premises."
Site privacy differences: Campground privacy varies widely between locations and specific sites. At Gunstock Campground, "Most of the sites are out in the open though, or very close together. Not so bad if you're camping in trailers or RVs, but if tent camping you won't really have any privacy in those locations." Research site maps before booking.
Noise considerations: Campground noise levels depend on location and neighbors. White Lake State Park experiences vary as "Your experience will depend heavily on your neighbors!" Sites are "in very close proximity to all of the neighboring sites" and while quiet hours start at 10pm, enforcement varies.
