Description

Country Bumpkins Campground has been a family owned and operated campground vacation spot for 25 years. We are dedicated to providing clean, comfortable and affordable accommodations in the heart of the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire. We have 6 fully equipped cabins, 2 travel trailer rentals and a campground with 67 campsites for both tents and RVs. Our mission is to provide a comfortable, safe, fun yet simple and relaxing camping experience for for every member of your family. We are nestled in a cozy setting along the Pemigewasset River and Bog Brook with a small man made duck and trout pond in the center which we stock for viewing and feeding. The main section of Campground and RV Park offers mostly open (not wooded), riverfront, brook and pond sites for tents and RVs. We can accommodate up to a 40' RV on a few sites. Our RV sites have water and electric, some with full hookups. Our tent sites are primitive - they do not have water or electricity at them. The tent sites are located on the river, brook and the pond, most of the RV sites are not on the water but still just a short walk away. Since 2014: We have expanded the campground northward to the old 'Cold Springs Campground'. This North section of campground has 22 of those 67 sites and another bathhouse. Most of the tent sites in this section are in a wooded area along the river. The sites are wooded but not private. There are 5 full hookup sites (without cable) that can accommodate up to 32' RVs. New for 2017 - we now have 7 full hookup sites for bigger RVs!! These 7 sites now have water, electric, sewer and cable and have been upgraded this year to 50/30/20 amp to accommodate most RVs. Plus 2 of these RV sites are also on the River! We have also upgraded our WiFi so that it reaches throughout the North Section!!!There is also a small beach area at the river.

Too close to everyone

I’ve stayed here twice and and visited a friend that was camping here once.

The first time I stayed we had 2 sites and on the River so privacy wasn’t such an issue. We had our friends on one side and tent neighbors on the other. I’d suggest if you have to stay here only stay on the river front areas. The Pond sites suck.

Next time was still on the river but we only had one site and just didn’t love it especially b/c most campers here have rvs (just not my scene especially when right next to you).

Last visit, my friend had a pond site and it was horrendous. I’d rather stay somewhere with just a tad more privacy and no showers than at that site. Super small and rvs everywhere.

Also, the fact that this is a private campground and therefore more expensive than a state campground makes it even more difficult to justify staying here. Just not worth the cost imo. I know the state campgrounds can fill up way in advance. I’d suggest finding another private site.

Pros:

  • Hot showers
  • General store on premise for anything you might have forgotten.
  • Accessibility to high peaks

Cons:

  • Mostly RV campers
  • WAY TOO CLOSE to other campsites. They really pack it in to get the most they can out of this property.

Pro/con:

  • Depending how you see things; pretty strict

Quiet and tucked away

Great spacing on the sites. Everything you need to stay to yourself.

Bath house was clean the water pressure was the best I've ever experienced.

Very clean grounds and you can tell they take pride in their site.

Small and adorable

Small adorable campground. Sites on the main part of the river are close but still felt private. Very close to downtown North Woodstock for great food and drinks, the Flume Gorge, and other great trails.

Charming small site on the river

Such a nice well cared for campground. 39 sites with a combination of RV full hookup to primitive tent sites. Beautiful setting on a small babbling river and plenty of trees for shade. A camp store has almost anything you could need. The owners could not be more friendly and helpful. There is a small pond in the center with ducks and fish. A huge playground for the kids. Plenty of picnic tables and river access. Centrally located to Franconia Notch SP, Woodstock and Lincoln. They also have individual anions for rent. This is a great little spot to enjoy all of the amazing outdoor activities in the area.

Best location

The camping is small but it has the most beautiful location at the river. The wi-fi is excellent.

quaint campground with a great central location and prices

This is a great little campground on Rt 3 in Lincoln, convenient for exploring along the Kanc and Franconia Notch. Prices are amazingly competitive for sites with utilities, though most of the riverfront sites do not offer utilities. The north section has tent sites tucked back in the shade along the river, a great option for hot summer days. The rest of the north section is open and grassy, well-suited to those with larger rigs. The main section is more compact, but the sites along the river are sunnier, though they still do not have utilities. Wifi is available and good quality.

Although sites are near and often open to each other, the campground is quiet. There's a great playground for younger kids and ducks just waiting to be fed. The sky above is beautiful if you're in the north section or toward the river/middle area in the main section. There seems to be a mix of seasonal and intermittent campers. They offer a discount if you stay 7 nights. For more desirable sites, they require a longer stay. It's not ideal if you're camping with friends who are all driving up separately (carpool, folks!) because parking for extra vehicles is limited and you may need to park off-site. They don't offer online reservations and you need to submit a deposit to secure a reservation, so pick up the phone to call. It's worth the extra effort to make the call!

I've only stayed here late in the season, but I've enjoyed it both times with friendly staff. They have a cute little camp store and sell firewood on site and provide paper and kindling, a definite advantage if it's been wet! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that the main bathroom, while clean, tends to be dark and crowded.

Perfect!

Country bumpkins is such a peaceful place to camp. Not the best for tents due to pretty hard ground but I still go a few times a year just to enjoy the grounds. Most of the sites are along the river which Makes it such a relaxing place to be!

The staff are excellent and extremely nice and welcoming as well!

Really fun!

Everyone was very kind. I stayed by the river and the brook, which was amazing. The campground was very clean and is very family friendly. There is a small arcade game room, WiFi at each site and an outdoor play area for kids.

Convenient camping

Last min decision and we got their last spot for Labor Day weekend. We paid for it a bit. Dogs and kids were EVERYWHERE and neither were well behaved. We heard lots of Massachusetts accents screaming to "knock it off already!" We also were in the spot right next to the walkway to the bathhouse, so had steady traffic going by. Our site #60 was gravel, back in, 30 amp, full hookup. It was slightly uphill, so we had to pull the RV all the way to the front of the site to be able to level.

Tent and RV sites were in our loop, which they called the North section. The center was grass, so we were able to park our toad there.

The check-in was a MESS, again Labor Day weekend, but still. It was almost dangerous. We followed the signs and turned in at the main campground. We quickly realized that multiple people were checking in, we had blocked in someone, and more were starting to back up on the road and were honking. I ran in to get our site number so Jason could move out of the way. The person working the desk said, "don't worry, they can wait" and proceeded the full check-in process. Meanwhile, Jason had decided to pull forward, and given there were no signs he turned immediately right to get out of the way. After I left the office, I realized quickly he had turned against a one way. Now all the rigs were coming in and we had no way to turn around to get out and over to the North loop. We had to detach the toad and back our RV up to get in a position to turn around. It was not fun.

The campground has sites that back up to the Pemigewasset River. As gorgeous as that is, on the hour, every hour, a tourist train comes through on the other side of the river whistling and firing some sort of prop gun maybe (?). It was unexpected to say the least. We didn't talk to anyone about it, and just figured it was the train from the Clark's Trading Post attraction down the street. If you're cool with the train and want a pretty view, go for #46 in the North loop.

The location was great to get to The Franconian Notch State Park to hike and to get on the Kangamangus Hwy for the gorgeous drive to Conway.

Our cell service was great and the campground's wifi most always worked for internet surfing and such.

Although loud with their kids and dogs, our neighbors were friendly asking lots of questions about our rig and why we were so far away from home. We'd stay again for a short trip.
