Lake of the Ozarks State Park Campground

Pretty camping area, lake was filthy and smelly

This was a pretty campsite with lots of trees and simple deer trails throughout. Sites are well spread out. The lake itself was filthy and smelly. Lots of trash and rotting fish on the shorelines. The campground website said they had WiFi throughout the campsite, however it was only available at the front office. No cell service. We had planned to stay for a week to school and work remotely, but had to cut our time here short because of no connectivity. If we hadn’t had the need for WiFi, this would have been a fine campground to stay at, as it is centrally located to many sightseeing locations.

Sties were level, kid and pet friendly, quiet campground, 30/50 amp electricity, no water hookups, firewood avail for fire pits, also had nice picnic tables. Inexpensive.

    Damsite

    Good fishing and great views

Very peaceful campground. It has a peninsula with some nice, shady sites but also another very wooded area on a bluff. The backside of the peninsula has zero shade (sites 26-40). All sites have good picnic tables and fire rings. Sites near the dump station can be very aromatic. No swim beach but you can access the water straight from the rocky shore. A lot of people tie their boats to shore below their campsite. There is a gas station/trading post right outside the entrance. And a tasty little restaurant with all kinds of sandwiches and ice cream treats. Beautiful sunrises and the sun sets over the dam. I really like this campground. Family friendly and everyone seems to have a dog:) but people do a good job of picking up after them.

Doolittle Acres RV Park and Campground

    Nice area

Good area only a mile off the highway so it made a great night stopping point. Had great access for our starlink. They have a little dog park, kids park, and it was all clean and well maintained. Easy access and some nice pull through spots. Water, sewer, and electric hook ups. Fire pit and picnic table at site. Since it’s close the highway it was a little loud with traffic. 57$ a night for premium spots, 42$ a night for non premium

    Turkey Creek RV Park

    Nice Campground! Nice and Quiet!

Turkey Creek was a very nice campground for our month long stay.  The park is well maintained and clean.  It is very quiet!  There is a train track nearby, but we only heard it a few times during our stay.

Amenities included full hook up, laundry room, bathrooms, showers and a fenced dog park where you 4 legged friends can enjoy some off-leash time.  We had 4 bars with AT&T and waffled between 1-3 bars with Verizon.

The location is great for visiting local attractions such as Branson Landing, Silver Dollar City and Top of the Rock.

Really appreciate the park manager, she was friendly and brought an overpayment to our attention and quickly issued a refund.

    Great experience overall!

    B Berry Farms & Co.

    Peaceful sleeping

Driving through Missouri needed a quiet place to stay. We stayed at Honey Berry Hideout, it has metal fire ring and grill. The owners were very friendly , informed us amenities , they have coffee pot , small stove to use in a barn in walking distance, bathrooms and showers for small fees. Family friendly with large area for kids to play.

    Laurie RV Park

    Nothing fancy

We stayed here for 3 weeks, full hookups, all large pull through sites, (don’t stay in site 16)… (see photo) clubhouse and shower house is kinda nasty but we don’t need it, 6-8 trailers live there year round, no staff on site, WiFi was sketchy but if you are just looking for a place to stay and explore the Ozarks it works.

Raccoon Ridge — Harry S Truman State Park

Shaded, Quiet and close to the lake!

Site 36 with 30A & 120V. Public Water Spigot about 50’ away. No Sewer or Water connections at Raccoon Ridge. Plenty of dead kindling and wood around to burn. Asphalt drive with concrete pad. Picnic table, fire/grill ring, hook post w/ recycle bag attached. BEST Site is 38 which puts trailer door parallel with a 180 lake view. Heavy wooded with shared paths to lake or cove. Marina is within 1 mile by water or 15 minutes by car. Ice, Beer and necessities at Puddle Jumpers Bait Store about 10 minute drive. Hosts were great and did cleaning daily. Showers and Dump Station at top of hill few hundred yards away. Let shower water run about 3 minutes before the warm water kicks in. Swim beach is on other side of cove or about a 5 min drive. Dump Station has 4 Waste Holes, two Non-potable water spigots/hoses and one Fresh Potable Water hose and both sides have slight incline on dump tank side. Downtown Warsaw is about 15 minutes away with tourist antique shoppes, bars, ice cream shoppes and the historic Joe Dice Suspension Bridge. The Truman Dam is about same distance away. T-Mobile service with 2-3 bars, no WIFI; but HotSpot worked for ROKU. Keep food and bait inside as raccoons rule at night. Be CAUTIOUS of Red Ticks that are VERY tiny… you’ll want plenty of DEET! Flies were biting like crazy, some mosquitoes and LOTS of May Flies. You’ll see Bald Eagles, raccoons. deer, squirrels, chipmunks, hawks, turtles and FISHING near wooded edge of cove is Bass and Crappie haven!!! Also Geocaching near by!!!

We will return and hopefully get site 38!

    Damsite

    Another amazing COE campground

Another wonderful Corps of Engineers campground on Pomme De Terre Lake. There are basic campsites and campsites with full hookups. The campsites are spacious and overlook the lake. This is such a beautiful, well maintained campground. Every campsite is level and has a picnic table and fire ring. During the off season ( Oct 1 - Nov.30 & March 14th - Apr 14 ) all campsites ( electric and primitive ) are only $10. ( limited amenities) From Jan 5th - March 14th campsites are free at Damsite Park. However, there is no electric or water available at that time.
Please check the Pomme De Terre USACE website for changes and regular season rates. 50% off all rates with America the beautiful/senior access pass at all Corps of Engineers campgrounds.
I highly recommend this campground. 4g LTE and great cell signal.

Guide to Camdenton

Camdenton RV parks provide year-round access to Lake of the Ozarks recreation, with most campgrounds clustered around the lake's 1,150 miles of shoreline at approximately 660 feet elevation. While summer temperatures typically range from 75-90°F, spring and fall camping seasons offer milder conditions with fewer crowds. Concrete pads and hillside terracing characterize many RV sites, with most campgrounds requiring advance booking from April through October.

What to do

Fishing from your campsite: Cross Creek RV Park features an 8-acre stocked lake where campers can fish directly from their site. One visitor shared, "We tent camped on the island for 2 nights. It was awesome, you can fish right off the bank of your own private island within in minutes of waking up."

Water activities: At Scallywag's RV Park, boat slips are available with campsite rentals, providing direct lake access. A camper noted, "Campsites are available with access to a covered or uncovered boat slip that is about a 5 min walk down hill. There's a waterside restaurant called Captain Ron's at the bottom of the hill that is family friendly and has lots to offer."

Hiking trails: Majestic Oaks RV Park & Campground maintains on-site hiking trails through wooded areas. A reviewer mentioned, "Nice park, hiking trails on site, spots are well maintained. Good amenities on site and very close to everything the Lake has to offer."

What campers like

Quiet locations: The Riviera Villas & RV Resort offers a peaceful setting with elevated lake views. According to one visitor, "Camp is clean, and very quiet. WiFi works okay. Best part of this park is you can see the lake from many of the campsites, and the pool."

Cleanliness: Osage Beach RV Park maintains clean facilities throughout their grounds. A camper reported, "The restrooms and showers were very clean and well kept. The staff was always very friendly and welcoming. They guided us to our spot, helped us back in, delivered firewood and ice right to our site."

Pool areas: Coconuts RV Resort features multiple pool areas with lake views. One reviewer described, "The top had 2 pools, shower house, and restroom all new and very NICE! The lower pools are big with scenic views of the boats and lake front."

What you should know

Road access challenges: Several campgrounds have difficult access roads. A recent visitor to Cross Creek warned, "The road to get in and out of this place is absolutely ridiculous. You can try to go 1mph to avoid potholes or washed out area just to hit the next pothole and washed out area."

Reservation requirements: Three-night minimum stays are common at lakefront RV parks during peak season. At Riveria Villas & RV Resort, a camper noted, "Only downside of this campsite is the website seems sketchy and is hard to use. The campground itself can only be booked through the campsite and there is a 3 night minimum stay."

Site spacing: Most RV parks have closely spaced sites. One camper at Majestic Oaks commented, "Were really paced in here but they had so many amenities it was crazy. Cable, WiFi, pool, etc. close to the Lake of the Ozark hot spots made it very convenient."

Tips for camping with families

Halloween events: Majestic Oaks offers special seasonal activities for families. A regular visitor shared, "The events around halloween are always so fun for kids and adults alike. They truly put so much work into making it the best experience for their guests."

Recreation options: Cross Creek provides multiple family-friendly activities on-site. A reviewer highlighted, "Kids love the mini golf, shuffleboard, and basketball. Huge private lake great for fishing and watching duck families swim by and come up to you on the grass!"

Safety concerns: At Lake Ozarks RV Resort, traffic patterns require caution. One camper warned, "Only issue was the kids being allowed on golf carts all day and late into the night flying all over both directions. Kids on bikes all night with no lights on bikes or grounds. It's a free for all."

Tips from RVers

Convenient locations: Osage Beach RV Park offers proximity to town amenities. A camper appreciated, "Location is close to the town, restaurants, and the state park. Friendly hosts. Sites are pretty close together though."

Internet connectivity: Working remotely is possible at certain campgrounds. One RVer shared about Osage Beach, "This was a very nice, clean campground in the city of Osage Beach. We needed a campsite to be able to work and school remotely from and this fit the bill with excellent WiFi that had boosters all throughout the campground."

Site selection: Many RV parks near Camdenton offer different site types based on privacy needs. At Cross Creek, a visitor recommended, "We tent camped on the island for 2 nights. Not as secluded as the other survivor tent site but really fantastic place. Had a restroom on the island, big plus for a family with 5 little ones."
