Lake of the Ozarks State Park Campground

Pretty camping area, lake was filthy and smelly

This was a pretty campsite with lots of trees and simple deer trails throughout. Sites are well spread out. The lake itself was filthy and smelly. Lots of trash and rotting fish on the shorelines. The campground website said they had WiFi throughout the campsite, however it was only available at the front office. No cell service. We had planned to stay for a week to school and work remotely, but had to cut our time here short because of no connectivity. If we hadn’t had the need for WiFi, this would have been a fine campground to stay at, as it is centrally located to many sightseeing locations.

Sties were level, kid and pet friendly, quiet campground, 30/50 amp electricity, no water hookups, firewood avail for fire pits, also had nice picnic tables. Inexpensive.

    Fishermans Paradise

    Off the beaten path

For starters the RV park is about 1/4 down a 1 lane gravel road so if you’re pulling a big rig you better hope you don’t meet another vehicle. All the 50 amp full hookup sites seem to be in use by permanent residents. The 30 amp sites are not on level ground. No water or sewer connections for the 30 amp sites. The road also gets a little steep and winding to the 30 amp sites. Nice small lakes make for a nice view once you get into the valley.

    Damsite

    Good fishing and great views

Very peaceful campground. It has a peninsula with some nice, shady sites but also another very wooded area on a bluff. The backside of the peninsula has zero shade (sites 26-40). All sites have good picnic tables and fire rings. Sites near the dump station can be very aromatic. No swim beach but you can access the water straight from the rocky shore. A lot of people tie their boats to shore below their campsite. There is a gas station/trading post right outside the entrance. And a tasty little restaurant with all kinds of sandwiches and ice cream treats. Beautiful sunrises and the sun sets over the dam. I really like this campground. Family friendly and everyone seems to have a dog:) but people do a good job of picking up after them.

    Lambert's Cafe RV Park

    Okay for an Overnighter

After reading a couple of reviews on this new campground (CG), we called about availability and got someone at Lambert’s Cafe who was not much help. We arrived at this new RV park addition to Lambert’s Cafe from I-57 with no issues. Coming in from I-57, we followed the signs for Lamberts and J.T. RV Park on the left side of the road. The entrance to the RV area is the second entrance into Lambert’s main parking lot. You follow the signage back to the CG which sits off to the right and behind Lambert's. This CG is first-come-first-serve. There’s a sign at the kiosk that states sites 6, 7, 8, 9, 27, 28, 29, 30,& 31 are for stays of one week or longer. We selected and parked in site 25 with FHUs, and then went back to the kiosk and paid our$40. The sites are narrow and very close to each other but this was on a Sunday and the park was fairly empty. There were about five transients overnight along with the four long-termers so having someone next to you was not an issue. There is no fire pit, picnic table, cable, or WiFI. One of the long-termers told me there’s a plan to put in a shower house, restrooms, and other amenities. We do not know if this is factual as we did not see any camp-host type of person during our stay. The CG is in an industrial area and we heard backing beeps at about 2:00 AM for a few minutes but other than that it was not bad for this type of area near a main road. We noticed a long-term resident taking their dog out and not picking up after the pet, which seemed to be common based on the'land mines' we noted while walking our dogs around. There is a dump station here that is a $10 fee if not staying in the CG. Lambert's Cafe is within easy walking distance. We had good water pressure at 50 psi and 4 bars on Verizon. This place is pretty much a parking lot with no trees so no problem with satellite. We got a good variety of OTA stations as well. This CG was a little on the pricey side for what you get unless maybe you are a huge Lambert’s Cafe fan. No surprises at this new RV Park as the sites are pretty much level and the roads easy to navigate. However, this place worked for an overnighter.

    Turkey Creek RV Park

    Nice Campground! Nice and Quiet!

Turkey Creek was a very nice campground for our month long stay.  The park is well maintained and clean.  It is very quiet!  There is a train track nearby, but we only heard it a few times during our stay.

Amenities included full hook up, laundry room, bathrooms, showers and a fenced dog park where you 4 legged friends can enjoy some off-leash time.  We had 4 bars with AT&T and waffled between 1-3 bars with Verizon.

The location is great for visiting local attractions such as Branson Landing, Silver Dollar City and Top of the Rock.

Really appreciate the park manager, she was friendly and brought an overpayment to our attention and quickly issued a refund.

    Great experience overall!

    Great Stay

Shaded, great amenities, friendly staff, LOVE the pull throughs. I have a pop up that’s a pain to reverse. Almost all (if not all) these sites, you can pull through the actual site! Not the jsut the campground. 👌🏽

    Laurie RV Park

    Nothing fancy

We stayed here for 3 weeks, full hookups, all large pull through sites, (don’t stay in site 16)… (see photo) clubhouse and shower house is kinda nasty but we don’t need it, 6-8 trailers live there year round, no staff on site, WiFi was sketchy but if you are just looking for a place to stay and explore the Ozarks it works.

Guide to Bennett Springs

Private camping areas near Bennett Springs, Missouri offer varied lodging options beyond the state park's boundaries. The area sits at approximately 850 feet elevation with moderate humidity levels typical of the Ozarks region. Most campgrounds remain open from March through November, though several RV parks in the area operate year-round with varying seasonal amenities.

What to do

Fishing at private lakes: Cross Creek RV Park features an 8-acre stocked lake with boat rentals and paddle boats. "Our site was maybe 30 yards from the water," notes Martin J., who appreciated the easy lake access despite the campground's steep gravel entrance road.

Mini golf and recreation: Many campgrounds offer on-site activities beyond the state park. At Cross Creek RV Park, "Kids love the mini golf, shuffleboard, and basketball. Huge private lake great for fishing and watching duck families swim by and come up to you on the grass!" according to camper Keidra P.

Visit nearby attractions: The area offers historical sites within driving distance. "We stayed overnight here because our dog was sick and this was close to the animal hospital we visited... this campground offered so much more and was closer to town so we could walk to restaurants," shared Tom B. about his stay at Osage Beach RV Park.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Campground bathrooms and common areas receive consistently positive feedback. At Cooks RV Motor Park, Tom H. noted, "Showers/restrooms/laundry are all in one building, and very clean and well kept. The park is adjacent to a large field where my dog was able to run to her heart's content."

Responsive staff: Campground hosts often go beyond expectations. "The staff is very friendly and helpful. The sites are well spaced and there is plenty of shade. Full hookups and excellent WiFi," reported Bill P. about his stay at Cooks RV Motor Park.

Pool amenities: Many campgrounds feature swimming pools for summer visits. At Riveria Villas & RV Resort, "The pool area sits on top of a bluff overlooking the lake. It's absolutely beautiful. The pool area also has a very nice cabana, firepit, and bathrooms," according to TJ G.

What you should know

Site spacing varies: Some campgrounds have more densely packed sites than others. Shannon G. observed about Osage Beach RV Park: "Very nice RV park near grocery store and food. Also near the Lake Of the Ozarks State Park. This RV park has everything you'd need... The reason I took a star off was that the sites were closer together than I like."

Reservation policies differ: Some campgrounds require minimum stays or have specific booking systems. At Riveria Villas & RV Resort, "Only downside of this campsite is the website seems sketchy and is hard to use. The campground itself can only be booked through the campsite and there is a 3 night minimum stay," notes TJ G.

Highway noise: Many RV parks near Bennett Springs are conveniently located near major roads, but this brings traffic noise. Dennis R. commented about Rustic Trails RV Park: "The name says it all. It is a very rustic campground. Gravel roads and sites that aren't very level. It has WiFi, but you have to be close to the main office to utilize it. I-44 is very close and loud."

Tips for camping with families

Look for seasonal activities: Many campgrounds offer special events during peak seasons. A visitor to Majestic Oaks RV Park & Campground noted, "The events around halloween are always so fun for kids and adults alike. They truly put so much work into making it the best experience for their guests."

Consider island camping options: For a unique experience with children, Barrett C. recommends Cross Creek RV Park: "We tent camped on the island for 2 nights. It was awesome, you can fish right off the bank of your own private island within minutes of waking up... Had a restroom on the island, big plus for a family with 5 little ones."

Check playground availability: Several campgrounds feature dedicated children's areas. Majestic Oaks RV Park & Campground offers "hiking trails on site" and "good amenities on site and very close to everything the Lake has to offer," according to Russ G.

Tips from RVers

Site leveling considerations: Many RV parks require some adjustment. Alex W. noted about Rustic Trails RV Park, "The roads are a bit tricky to navigate and the sites are very unleveled. The staff is difficult to get ahold of and is not around a lot."

Wi-Fi reliability: Internet access varies significantly between campgrounds near Bennett Springs. "This was a very nice, clean campground in the city of Osage Beach. We needed a campsite to be able to work and school remotely from and this fit the bill with excellent WiFi that had boosters all throughout the campground," shared Melissa H. about Osage Beach RV Park.

Full hookup availability: Most RV parks offer complete services. At Laura Ingalls Wilder RV Park, "Great pull through site. Good spaces between campers on the pull throughs. Clean and quiet. Owners were extremely nice," according to Kyle R.
