Hermitage Area Campground — Pomme de Terre State Park

Well maintained Campground. Lots of trees on outer loop 3. Very nice family site. Breeze off the lake kept the 90 degree days bearable. Restrooms are old but well maintained. Camp store is mostly an ice cream shop, no camping related items to speak of. Camp hosts are friendly. Not much of the late night noise enforcement. Dog friendly

We visited in mid-march before spring really started. It is an honor system for your campground. Stop by the front office and grab an envelope. Drive around and pick your campsites and then fill out the envelope. Put some money or check in there and put it back in the Dropbox. The campground even in the ending of winter is still beautiful. It is wide and spacious with plenty of campsites and if you're lucky you can get campsites all along the lake for wonderful views.

We stayed at the Hermitage campground at Pomme de Terre last weekend. Easy check in and easy to navigate around the campground. Our only complaint was the vault bathrooms and the showers. It could have just been the end of the month, but the vault bathrooms were unbelievably smelly. I have a hard stomach, but that was a little much. The showers had mold on the walls, not ideal. I understand it is camping and we’re roughing it a little, but compared to others, these were not ideal.

I camped here as a child but haven't been back in years. We recently purchased a new RV and this was the first place we went. We stayed in spot 223 and had a nice tree on the left. We didn't even have to use the awning. It was very level. Behind us was the old road which was perfect for the kids to play on and ride bikes. The lake was just past that, and the view was wonderful. The bathrooms were clean (but hot) and not too far. I'd highly recommend staying here.

Decided to try out Pomme de Terre this weekend. We are not disappointed! Beautiful views form the campsite— tent camping on a peninsula in surrounded by Pomme de Terre lake. Check in was a little confusing, and we later found out the shop is closed for the season. We’ve been having to head to town to purchase wood and ice which is slightly inconvenient. Facilities are average— I’m not amazing but not disgusted, they are what you’d expect! Nice and quiet this weekend, beautiful clear water waiting to be canoed in. If only we had one! We’ll be back!
