    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Haycreek Valley Campground welcomes pets throughout its campsites with electric and water hookups for both RV and tent camping. The campground provides multiple grassy areas specifically for walking dogs, allowing campers to maintain their regular pet exercise routines while traveling. Full hookup sites accommodate RV campers with pets, while tent sites offer more natural surroundings for dogs to enjoy. Regular campers note the campground remains remarkably bug-free even during peak summer months, a significant advantage for evening dog walks. Treasure Island RV Park, Frontenac State Park, and Bay City Campground also permit pets with varying amenities and site configurations.

Frontenac State Park's hiking trails offer excellent dog walking opportunities with bluff overlooks providing panoramic views of Lake Pepin and the Mississippi River. The park features cart-in sites that create better privacy for campers with active dogs, though trains passing nearby may disturb noise-sensitive pets. Most campsites throughout the area provide sufficient space between sites to prevent pet-to-pet conflicts, with several locations offering spacious tent pads and parking areas that easily accommodate pet equipment. The paved Cannon Valley Trail accessible from Haycreek Valley Campground gives pet owners an excellent option for longer walks and exercise, with many campers noting the pleasant, shaded route to Red Wing directly from campsites. Water-loving dogs can enjoy Lake Byllesby Regional Park's shoreline access, though all pets must remain leashed on trails and in camping areas.

      Frontenac State Park Campground

      Beautiful Bluffs

We decided to make a spontaneous camping trip one weekend and found ourselves at Frontenac. The cart-in site we were at was very spacious but wasn't as secluded as we would have hoped. We didn't feel claustrophobic by any means but we could see several other sites from ours. We went early in the year and maybe the summer growth solves that problem. Bathrooms nearby but no water available. It was also windy enough in the evening that we called it an early night but I think that was just a front movingly through and had less to do with the hill we were on.

We went on a hike that showed off the wonderful bluffs along the Mississippi. As far as camping in Minnesota goes we prefer the options on the North Shore, but really enjoyed Frontenac and will be back to continue exploring.

      Dakotah Meadows RV Park

      Quiet and safe

Small little campground next to large casino. We lucked out and were able to stay 2 nights without reservations….only had to move because they were fully booked for the 4th…large concert event happening across the street. You will need to call early in the day to talk to office staff…who are very friendly. If after hours and there are no spots, you can dry dock in large lot in front of office. There is fuel on site as well as RV wash station. Bath house and laundry and card controlled ($5 card deposit on check in)…well maintained facilities. Dog park available, watch a few spots in fence near bottom where fencing has risen up…little dogs could easily climb under. Very convenient for visiting Minneapolis…25/30 minutes from airport/Mall of America (Aquarium) and Security patrols regularly and there is shuttle if you want to visit casino. Pool at hotel is not included. Golf attraction is being completed next door so there was some construction traffic during day as expected.

      Tresure Island RV Park

      Crowded park, nice people

We were here for a night to see a concert at the amphitheater and everyone was super friendly. It was easy to check in, and we were able to do laundry and shower which was great. It’s mostly gravel but they have some tent sites on the grass. They are dog friendly and have some grassy areas to walk your pets which was great.

Lazy D Campground and Trail Rides

      Quiet Weekend Getaway

Mellow family friendly campground with just enough for the kids to do - playground, bounce pad, tuning, pool. The petting zoo is a bit disappointing but otherwise it is a fantastic place!

      Lazy D’s Campground

      Good Family Campground

Tent camping - Fun things to do with kids - jumping pillow, petting zoo, kids train ride, playground, pool, sandpit, volleyball, peddle bikes, river with tubing, horse rides, close to white water with hiking and beach. Seasonal people were friendly and staff was great. Low bugs and a good size camping space. Only negative was the pedestrian bridge is a little old and could use some repairs.

    Guide to Hay Creek

Haycreek Valley Campground accepts pets throughout its tent sites, RV spaces and cabin accommodations. Located near Red Wing, Minnesota, the campground maintains large open sites with electric and water hookups, providing a convenient base for travelers with dogs. The park remains remarkably mosquito-free according to multiple visitors, creating a more comfortable outdoor experience for both campers and their pets. ['Campers report the trails around Haycreek are shaded and excellent for dog walking, with horse camping options also available for those traveling with equine companions.'] Pet owners appreciate the grassy areas designated for walking dogs, though some sites have oddly positioned fire pits and utility connections that might require planning around when setting up with animals.

Access to nearby paved bike trails makes Haycreek Valley an excellent choice for active dog owners, with direct trail connections to Red Wing providing extended recreation options. Frontenac State Park Campground, another pet-friendly option in the area, offers spacious sites with more privacy between camping areas and excellent bluff trails that provide challenging hikes with Mississippi River views. The cart-in sites at Frontenac provide more seclusion for tent campers with pets, though these sites require a quarter-mile walk from the parking area. Temperature considerations are important when camping with dogs in Minnesota's variable climate, as summer heat can limit trail activities while spring camping may encounter muddy conditions on the park's steeper paths.
