My dad grew up going here and so did I. My siblings and I all learned to ride our bikes here. My nieces and nephews are now doing the same. Its where I learned to love nature. I became addicted to kayaking here and am now a wildlife ecologist!!! Its the PERFECT family campground. Kayak, canoe, SUP rentals, a carousel, pool, lake, hike, and sooooo many activities. I've stayed in tents, half moons (kitchen and bathroom but sleep in tent), cabins, RV sites....I LOVE this place so much. Its my childhood

General: 27 sites with electricity and water, two cabins, 33 remote campsites, and four remote cabins in isolated locations around Umbagog Lake accessible only by boat.
Site Quality: Some sites have a lake view while some are tucked in among the trees. Site 1A was the fourth up from the lakeshore but still gave us a decent view of the lake. A fire ring and picnic table were at the site. My one complaint is that the electric hookup was so far from where we had to park that we were unable to access it without a very long extension cord (which we did not have). Fortunately, we did not need electricity.
Bathhouse: Quite possibly the most immaculate campground bathroom I’ve ever encountered! They are cleaned at 8 am but when we arrived at 6:30 pm, they were still very clean. Soap and paper towels are appreciated. There was also a vault toilet closer to the wooded sites, although it would not be an unreasonable walk to the main bathhouse.
Activities/Amenities: Boat launch and slips, fishing, and swimming. Canoe and kayak rentals are available. The building that has restrooms, laundry, and showers also has a large deck with chairs so you can enjoy the view. The sunsets can be spectacular! There is a small store at the office.
Although just an overnight stay for us, it was very enjoyable. We conversed with a ranger in the morning, and he told us that even when the campground was full (in the summer months), it is a very quiet campground.

This is what I would call camping for those that still want all the comforts of a resort, which is exactly what this place is. There a few tent sites and some RV sites, but Point Sebago is mainly full of their “cabins.” The “cabins” can be rented too. The sites have water and electricity which is nice and you have access to many of the resort amenities, of which there are lots. It wasn’t may favorite place to camp, but it wouldn’t be bad for families just starting to get into camping.

The trail up is steady, good footing, not many rocks and several stream crossings. The view from the cabin was nice but from the summit was disappointing. The spring was a little more than a trickle but the area was set back from the cabin and clean. The cabin had been cleaned by a ranger the night before we arrived. The inside was a little dark but pleasant. The flies are out and there are no outside fires allowed so be prepared with spray. We stayed one night and everyone enjoyed themselves.

We tented for two nights mid-week in 2020 and booked the cabin for Memorial Day weekend 2021. I thought we might like it less completely booked but that wasn't the case. The owners are quality people, the seasonal folks are super nice, the facilities are lovely. The weather was cold and rainy but there was still a great vibe and tons of activities. The cabin was cozy but had a microwave, coffee pot, and fridge (no need to worry about ice). Outside we had a canopy, fire ring and grill. The kids had a blast in the heated pool and on the playground.

Tops’l Farm offer the best of glamping. Located in Waldoboro, they create a wonderfully balanced experience between the outdoors and glamp. While their model continues to evolve, camping is not available on all days/weekends. They create special weekend camping events and retreats. We participated in a weekend camping event that included a farm to table meal on Saturday evening in their barn. They had recommendations for places to visit during the rest of the weekend, which we did not do.
Their model is a stay that costs a price, plus a lot of a la carte “extras” that you can order. We ordered Friday dinner and wine; and breakfast for one morning. Depending on the weekend, ‘extra’ offers could also include yoga, foraging, s’mores kits, etc.
Tops’l Farm has both cabins and glamping tents. The bath house is very nice for a camp bath house, with soap and shampoo. The cabins are full of creature comforts, including nice sheets and blankets, lanterns, and an overall beautifully appointed space that is still rustic. Each cabin has a fire pit.
The farm dinners offer delicious food with ingredients from local farms. The food is delicious, simple and very satisfying all at the same time. The barn that they hold the dinners in is simple yet elegant. There is a camp store where you can buy beer, wine, snacks and other basic items.
They truly curate a lovely glamping experience. It isn’t cheap, but if you want a glamping weekend, it’s one of the best.

Loved all the extras: wood-fire sauna, solar shower, cold plunge, picnic/eating space, outdoor seating spaces, games, fire pit, etc. We played the woodland disc golf course multiple times! Great way to experience the forest and end the day in cozy bed!! Ryan is an amazing host.
LegendI stayed here for the first time in August last year, but returned in October this year to enjoy the autumn colors. This is a lovely state park on a large lake, offering drive-in sites with and without water/electric hookups plus a number of primitive boat-in sites around the lake. In 2019 the bathhouse was renovated, delaying the season opening, but it was worth the weight. Bathrooms are clean and bright, offering hot showers ($) and laundry.
Site fill up on weekends, especially prime lakefront sites. You can choose something more open and grassy or a wooded site. There's a swimming area and boat rentals. The office has limited hours. If you arrive after 5 or 6 (depending on the day/month), you'll need to check in in the morning and won't be able to buy firewood on site.
Off site, it's a short drive to Grafton Notch State Park (ME) for hiking and waterfalls, a little farther to Bethel, ME for canoeing, biking, and other outdoor activities. The Umbabog National Wildlife Refuge also offers hiking and boating opportunities with moose, loons, eagles, and beavers, to name a few.
It was bitterly cold overnight (24-27 degrees), so I was grateful for my trailer, but it made for some beautiful, if foggy, mornings and brilliantly clear skies for stargazing. If a tent or trailer isn't your chohice, there are cabins available, too.

Each time we visit we truly enjoy the vast ATV trail system. This campground is surrounded by spectacular mountains, rolling fields, towering trees, fragrant wild flowers and beautiful butterflies.

We actually got married here. We stayed in the cabins and a few of our guests camped. Obviously we’re fond of it for emotional reasons but it’s also just a great spot. The owners are great people. The store is well stocked, and there are a ton of amenities. It’s also close to other fun coastal towns. Definitely worth a visit.
ScoutPapoose is a great campground. They have basically any time of site you could ever want, from tent only sites, to rentable cabins (multiple sizes) to cottages. I always stay at an HHK site - this has it's own personal bathroom with shower, and an outdoor stovetop and sink. It's great to have multiple swimming options, depending on the weather and who you're with. We will continue to visit every year!

Bought by yogi bear campgrounds a few years ago. They’ve updated a lot of thing including new water park, camp store, mini golf course, jumping pad and more. Things that haven’t changed are the great views and the river that runs along the site for lazy river tubing and relaxing. New cabins look nice. Only negative change is that dogs are no longer allowed in tent sites

We stayed here last weekend while on the Orchard for our friends' wedding. The campsite they have here is not open all the time and only available for special events so definitely make sure to check in advance. However, it is a beautiful space and well worth checking out for weddings or other get togethers. They also have cabins you can stay in as an alternative but those are limited. Make sure to check out some of the amazing hiking in the area if you stay here and dont forget to eat some apples.
ScoutWe rented a one room cabin that was perfect for two who flew in without camping gear. Fridge, coffee pot, microwave and AC. One queen bed and a bunk bed made for comfortable sleeping and a fire pit was even included. This site is located on a beautiful property and very quiet. There is also a pool and we’ll stocked store and the Zach and the staff couldn’t have been more accommodating and that’s why I gave it five stares. We will stay again if in the area and I recommend you give this place a try. Trailer or tent sites are here as well as a ‘glamming’ canvas tent for a more romantic stay. 😉

This is a small privately owned campground located at the confluence of the Kennebec and the Wesserunsett Rivers just a few minutes from downtown Skowhegan. Campers are a mix of seasonals and transients with sites varying from pull-thru, back-in, tent and one rental cabin.
We had a long pull-thru site that was located under pine trees which provided welcomed shade since the temperatures were in the high 80’s. The first site we were assigned was in the direct sun so we asked to move to a shady site and they were very accommodating. Some of the RV sites are located parallel to the river so your patio is open to the river and you have an unobstructed water view. However, these sites are fairly short and would not accommodate larger RVs. All other sites are pretty close to each other without much privacy between them. RV sites have cable with 70+ channels. There are a handful of tent sites at the far end of the campground set off on their own and right along the river. The only downside is that they are pretty far away from the bathrooms. The restrooms and laundry were spotless and cleaned daily.
There is a small playground and a nice swimming pool which was clean and had lots of chairs around it for relaxing. There is a nice dock along the river where you can tie up boats and launch a kayak or canoe. One of the nice features is that they offer free use of their canoes/kayaks/peddle boats. You reserve a 2-hour time slot, and they provide you with the paddles and life jackets. There is a game room/arcade for kids to hang out in and there is a pavilion that is open to the public for gathering. One of the downsides is the loud road noise from Route 2. The other thing we didn’t like was that our patio was a mix and sand and dirt which made for a mess in the RV and not a great place for our dog to lay in. We paid$59/night for our full hook-up site which seems a little high for the area, but it was a full hookup site with cable and (pretty poor Wi-Fi).
Overall, we liked this campground and it was a good three-night stay for us as we were traveling through Maine. Downtown is interesting with restored historic buildings housing antique shops, artisan galleries, and restaurants. There is a grist mill and restaurant located in an old jail that sells a wide variety of grains and other Maine-made products. We especially loved the Bankery which is a bakery located in an old bank. Just outside of town is Bigelow Brewery which we recommend visiting. There are a few nature preserves in the area that offer hiking if you are looking for a nice short walk in the woods.

Wolfe’s Neck Farm is set on 626 acres with four miles of coastline and is the legacy of a local family farming operation. The family donated the land to the community based on their belief in useful preservation and protection of open spaces. The farm is now open to the public, free of charge every day and is committed to continuing and improving upon the long tradition of sustainable agriculture, recreation and education while preserving its open space.
The campground has oceanfront campsites as well as sites nestled in wooded areas. There are RV sites (some with hookups), tent sites, and even three oceanfront cabins. The farm also has a dump station as well as free showers. You can freely roam the farm (or hike in the adjacent Wolfe’s Neck State Park) or rent a kayak/canoe and explore Casco Bay. Definitely a unique experience and great educational opportunities for families with kids!

You can choose to stay in a tent or a cabin. The tents are outfitted with two beds and a nice outdoor seating area. Candles and solar lights will keep it illuminated at night. They include special touches such as branded matches and a carafe full of water on the bedside table. Each site has its own firepit and porch.
The common spaces are equally as luxurious. The bathhouse was just like a four-star hotel. They provide you with shampoo, conditioner and body wash. There is even a hair dryer! Bug spray and lotion are also available for your use.
There is a common space that includes picnic tables and a large fire pit. The bathhouse building also has charging stations for each tent so you can stay plugged in during your stay!
Only downfall…There are quite a few of mosquitos. Thankfully they provide various bug spray's that you can use!

It is full of family activities happening all throughout the day and separated by age group, which makes it easy for everyone in the family to have something they want to do.
I hesitate to call this a campground because this is kind of a resort that offers camp sites and camp houses instead of a hotel.
The key draw to this place for me is Sebago lake, which connects to Long Lake, and is some of the best boating I've done. The water is clean and clear, the state park has a great beach, as well as some nice sandbars and beaches elsewhere on the lakes.
To be clear: If you like to camp at state parks, traditional campgrounds, the normal camping experience, this may be too built up for you. As this is a large resort with a golf course attached, there are golf carts everywhere. Probably 75%+ of the sites are camphomes, which are single wide 2 bedroom rentable cabins. I'd love to see a few of these go away and it transition to more RV sites.

While the campground looks to be primarily RV camping from the road, there are many tent sites tucked away in the trees and even two sites that are walk-in only and are situated right on the Androscoggin River. Additionally, the campground has several nice cabins available as well.
Let's start with the RV sites: there are a bunch! This campground also hosts many seasonal campers who have sites situated around the perimeter of both sides of the campground (split by Route 2). Seasonal campers have some pretty sweet set-ups for sure. The only downside to some of the RV spots is that they can be in the sun almost all day which can be a bit much in the heart of the summer. Otherwise, sites are well maintained and have all the normal hookups for RVs.
Tent sites are well spaced and almost all of them are in the shade which is a huge bonus! Each site has a picnic table, fire ring and nice level spot to pitch your tent. Bath houses are conveniently located throughout the campground and are well maintained.
The two walk-in tent sites are very secluded and offer fire rings, picnic tables, a bear box and one of the two sites has a wooden tent platform. The second site's tent platform is currently being built (July 2020) and should be at the site and ready for use soon. These sites sit right on the beautiful Androscoggin River, offering a serene backdrop for your camping adventure.
The campground is situated in-between two large tracts of the White Mountain National Forest. Great hiking is available at the campground as well as a short drive away. If hiking is a hobby of yours, look no further! This is a great location to base yourself out of to get some solid miles under your belt. There is a campground office that has a small store as well as laundry facilities. They also offer an AT Hiker Hostel. They also have a nice heated swimming pool, playground and many other amenities. When there isn't a global health pandemic, they have a bouncy house for the kids. They often show movies on the lawn when the weather cooperates. They also rent kayaks and you can launch from the campground or they will shuttle you some place near by.
It really is a campground with a little bit of everything! Owned by locals of the community who have run the place for over 25 years.
