Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park accepts pets at all campsites and cabins, providing both tent and RV camping options with electric hookups. The campground features clean bathhouse facilities with heat and air conditioning, making it comfortable for campers and their animals year-round. Sites are moderately sized with paved pads, though some campers note the connections can be far away and may require extensions over 50 feet for hookups. The primitive tent sites are located in a separate area with some shade but without much privacy from neighboring campers. Pets must remain leashed throughout the park, including on the several miles of hiking trails that wind through the historic battlefield site.

Twin Knobs Recreation Area and Zilpo Campground in the Daniel Boone National Forest both welcome pets and offer more secluded camping experiences than Blue Licks. These campgrounds provide firewood on-site and feature waterfront access with boat-in camping options, allowing dogs to enjoy swimming opportunities during warmer months. Hidden Lake Farm Camp stands out for its pet-friendly policies and tranquil lake setting where dogs can join their owners on complimentary boats. The water access makes these sites particularly appealing for active dogs who enjoy swimming. While most campgrounds maintain standard leash policies, primitive camping areas typically offer more space for pets to explore. Campground hosts throughout the region are generally accommodating to late arrivals with pets, though overnight temperatures can vary significantly by season, requiring appropriate shelter and bedding for animals camping in tents.

      Elkhorn Creek RV Park

      Nice location, friendly staff

Make sure you take the exit they tell you & do NOT follow gps or you’ll go down a long country road. Nice little family owned campground on Elkhorn Creek. Convenient to Frankfort, Georgetown & Lexington. Waterfront sites available, many concrete sites & some gravel sites. From what I hear, they have made many improvements and continue to do so. I believe most sites are full hookup & they are building cute little pergolas on several sites. I had a long, gravel pull thru site. Barely any room on the camp side but both ends were roomy. Cute little general store & a very clean little laundry building w/a change machine. Fire rings on all sites that I saw. I believe there are 2 play areas for kids & a pool. There is a dog park w/a side for large dogs & small dogs. It was shaded and had seating. Convenient to several distilleries including Buffalo Trace & Woodford Reserve. There’s a place nearby that rents kayaks and canoes. They have entertainment & a food truck on weekends.

      Oak Creek Campground

      Easy place to stop

Nice campground with several pull through sites for big rigs. Pool and new dog park with a very nice play area for the kids. We prefer site 18 which offers nice privacy and os next to a stream.

      East Fork State Park Campground

      Overall great state park

Generous sized campsites, a lot of them are wooded which we prefer, with around 400 sites there are plenty to choose from! Bathroom/shower facilities are updated and usually well maintained. There is a large public beach but it's on the other side of the park so you have to drive all the way around to get to it, no short cuts. They have a camp ground beach but it's been closed the last 2 years. Lots of hiking trails, bridal trails and a bike path. Wish list for this park: Boat rental, dog park, dog beach/water access. Overall a beautiful park.

The Landing at Bear Creek RV Park

      Work in Progress

This is newly opened and a lot of work still needs to be done. Currently there is no dog park, hiking trails or bathhouses like it states. Many of the spots aren’t even finished yet.

When looking at the camp map don’t plan on having access to the creek or river. Your lucky if you can even view it.

The ground is all sand. So while if it rains you won’t get muddy, but the sand is a pain and gets everywhere.

Three Springs Campground and RV Park

      Beautiful in all weather!

We didn't let the rainy Kentucky weather disrupt our weekend getaway! We stayed warm and dry inside Page's cabin. Uphill trails are spectacular, with plenty of pet friendly areas.

The Landing at Bear Creek RV Park

      Family Atmosphere

This is the best campground we have stayed at. We have been here all summer and we’ve had no complaints. The owners are great people who are always here working and interacting with the campers. Splash pad, pavilion, playground, Gaga pit, and dog park are a few of the great amenities. Each lot has a fire pit and the lots are large. They do activities for the kids every weekend and also have bands! It’s a fun place.

The Landing at Bear Creek RV Park

Best full time campground on the Ohio River!

We are full-time RVers and this is by far the best park we've stayed at! It's peaceful and beautiful, everyone (especially Management) is so friendly and fun! The laundry facility is one of the greatest amenities as we've stayed other places without one, so we truly appreciate it! The splash pad is fantastic for children and adults alike! There's a dog park, and a kids kangaroo jump pad as well. The view of the river is beautiful! On weekends there's entertainment and/or cornhole tournaments to bring everyone together. The park is maintained perfectly and I've enjoyed calling it home! By far the best park in Southern Clermont County! Must see!

      Northern Kentucky RV Park

      Beware dangerous animal on site

Dangerous animals on site! My child was bit by a cat at the playground. The cat had been hanging out around the office and at the play ground for a few days while we were there. We asked the office to trap and monitor the cat per health department sugestion after ER visit following bite. The camp manager has given us several different stories about having trapped the cat and then not having the cat then her husband taking the cat to his siatera house. When animal control and Kentucky dpt of health talked to them they gave them all different stories too. Bottom line is they are dishonest people and have a dangerous animal on their property. Beware BEWARE!!! Especially if you have children!

    Guide to Carlisle

Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park accommodates pets at both tent and RV sites with water and electric hookups available. The campground maintains clean shower facilities and level camping pads suitable for pet owners, though the tent camping area offers limited shade and seclusion. All sites require pets to remain leashed throughout the camping area and surrounding trails. Permanent fire rings and picnic tables are provided at each site, with the premium sites featuring wooden decks. The campground layout places RV sites on an outer loop with tent sites clustered in a designated primitive area.

Hiking with dogs is possible on several miles of trails throughout Blue Licks State Park where pets can explore historical sites including a pioneer fort discovered by campers during their walks. Hidden Lake Farm Camp provides an alternative pet-friendly option with lakefront access where dogs can cool off during summer months. The park's bath house remains well-maintained with heat and air conditioning, offering comfort for campers after outdoor activities with their pets. While some sites experience road noise, the campground enforces quiet hours to ensure minimal disturbance for pets sensitive to sounds. Veterinary services can be found in nearby Lexington, approximately 45 minutes away, making it advisable for pet owners to pack any necessary medications or supplies for their stay.
