Elkhorn Creek RV Park

Creek sounds aside, the access road is the first thing to know about Elkhorn Creek RV Park. GPS routing can send drivers down a long country road, so following the campground's specific directions is worth the extra step. Sites run a mix of concrete and gravel, with full hookups on most, and the park accommodates rigs up to 45 feet. Waterfront sites along Elkhorn Creek are available, though they tend to be the most sought-after. Rates run $50 to $65 per night.

The campground sits close enough to Frankfort that day trips into the city are easy, and several distilleries on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, including Buffalo Trace and Woodford Reserve, are within reach. Nearby kayak and canoe rentals give paddlers a way to get out on the water. On weekends, the park hosts live music and food trucks. Facilities include a general store, a laundry building, a pool, two play areas, and a dog park with separate sections for large and small dogs.

Cleanliness comes up consistently across reviews. Art Z. notes it was "a pretty urban place, not a state park," which sets the right expectations. This is a well-maintained private RV park, not a wilderness campground. One reviewer flagged the nightly rate as a bit high relative to the amenities. Reservations are available and worth making in advance if a creekside site is the priority.

Great family campsite

It was really easy to get checked in and set up. They have some amazing amenities to keep the kids entertained. It is right outside of Frankfurt so you are nice and close to many different attractions.

Great Location For Frankfort Distilleries

Great Location for Buffalo Trace, Woodford, Whiskey Thief, Wild Turkey, and castle key. Price is a bit stiff for amenities offered, but nice level concrete sites with stable electric

Wonderful place to stay with easy access to the Bourbon Trail and Frankfort

We stayed for several days so that we could visit distilleries on the Bourbon Trail. Frankfort is almost close enough to bicycle to. Lexington is less than an hour away. It was a great base for visiting many interesting places.

Elkhorn Creek RV Park was fantastic. The sites were clean and everything worked. The staff was super friendly. We stayed in a creekside site so we had a little bit of scenery. It is a pretty urban place, not a state park, so we didn't expect it to be as pretty as it turned out to be.

The pool was plenty warm. The bathroom was clean. The classic rock singer who came in and sang in the pavilion on Saturday night was fun.

Nice location, friendly staff

Make sure you take the exit they tell you & do NOT follow gps or you’ll go down a long country road. Nice little family owned campground on Elkhorn Creek. Convenient to Frankfort, Georgetown & Lexington. Waterfront sites available, many concrete sites & some gravel sites. From what I hear, they have made many improvements and continue to do so. I believe most sites are full hookup & they are building cute little pergolas on several sites. I had a long, gravel pull thru site. Barely any room on the camp side but both ends were roomy. Cute little general store & a very clean little laundry building w/a change machine. Fire rings on all sites that I saw. I believe there are 2 play areas for kids & a pool. There is a dog park w/a side for large dogs & small dogs. It was shaded and had seating. Convenient to several distilleries including Buffalo Trace & Woodford Reserve. There’s a place nearby that rents kayaks and canoes. They have entertainment & a food truck on weekends.

Great Family Spot

We last minute booked this spot as a family getaway and we are so happy we did. It was perfect for our kids and dogs. Kids were none stop walking the dogs, and scootering up and down the road. Everyone was so kind, there was even live music! And can I take a moment to say the restroom/shower was the cleanest I have EVER used. Huge thanks to the staff, you can tell they truly take pride in their work. We had a site next to the creek and it was beautiful! We are already talking about coming back!
