Best RV Parks & Resorts near Carlisle, KY

CAMPER SUMMARY PRESENTED BYFord

Several RV parks operate within a 30-mile radius of Carlisle, Kentucky, providing varied accommodation options for motorhome travelers. Three Springs Campground in Corinth features 50 sites with electric hookups and 30-amp service, though it lacks sewer connections at individual sites. Whispering Hills RV Park in Georgetown offers full hookup capabilities including 50-amp service, water, and sewer connections on level sites. Northern Kentucky RV Park in Crittenden maintains 80 sites with both 30- and 50-amp electric options, operating seasonally from March through November. Sites at many parks have gravel pads rather than concrete, with some parks featuring tighter spacing between units. "Sites are very tight and not very level in the area we were at. My only complaint is that the sewer was at the front of the spot, about 30 foot from my drain."

Steep approach roads present challenges at some facilities, particularly for larger motorhomes and fifth wheels. Three Springs Campground has a notably steep final approach that requires careful navigation. Most RV parks in the region offer sanitary dump stations, clean restroom facilities, and trash collection. Potable water availability varies by location, with some parks providing hookups at individual sites while others offer centralized filling stations. Pet policies generally allow leashed animals throughout the parks. Many campgrounds maintain seasonal operations with limited winter availability, though Whispering Hills and Outpost RV Park operate year-round. According to one visitor, "Final approach/exit to the park is very steep. Beautiful sites but fairly close together. Gravelled roads and pads surrounded by forest with three small streams cutting through. Sites are not particularly level."

Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park

Great place for passers through or staycationers.

We have stayed in four sites her during the past couple of month. There are two walk-in sites (10 & 51). Both were pleasant, nearly level, close to amenities, but were under no shade. [Site 10 is presently inhabited by a large family with a sign that says “Camp Host out front. I have not seen them do anything for campers here, and the site is kept in disgraceful cluttered condition.] we next stayed on Lot 13, which backs up to the primitive campground. Quite nice, but beware: this site as well as about half of the other sites at this campground require the use of electrical and water extensions because the connections are on the “wrong” side of the RV, and quite a distance away. For Lot 13, I needed over 50’ of extensions. We then stayed on walk-in lot 51. I was able to “self permit” at the gate…it’s first come first served, no online reservations. Nice, but no shade. Finally, we’re on Lot 47. Eureka! This is my favorite so far. It’s one of the “premium sites” with wooden deck and nicer picnic table for only $2 additional per night. View is phenomenal, and it’s close enough to dumpsters and gatehouse. Notice that I didn’t mention anything about sewer hookups. That’s because there are none. There is a single, very popular dump station near the entrance/exit.
There are several miles of decent trails here, a swimming pool, putt putt golf, a pioneer museum, and a lodge with a good restaurant. The campground is easily accessible and is very kid and pet friendly. Nice sites for tent camping. Facilities are a bit dated, but clean and well maintained. All RV sites are back-in, and some are limited length. (Though some campers have rather cleverly managed to pull through a couple of the sites.) Some are quite unlevel.
Overall good family campground on rich historical site.

    Still Waters Campground

    Wonderfully beautiful, peaceful, and friendly

This campground is located at the mouth of the Elkhorn Creek and Kentucky River. It is extremely popular among locals who want to sit in an tube float and float down the creek to the Kentucky River, a trip that takes approximately 3 to 4 hours. Note you have to bring your own tube. Nearly all of the campsites are spacious and have grass. You can park next to your campsite. The campground is very clean, full of trees and shade, and the lawn is well manicured. On weekends you can find campers playing corn hole and karaoke. Food trucks occasionally set up on weekends. Due to the location, only Verizon and Visible cell phone users have service. There is no local Internet. There are two dump stations for RVs. There is also a hiking trail to the top of a nearby mountain. The view of the Kentucky river is magical. The office is open Wednesday thru Sunday. Use of ground mats are frowned upon as they kill the grass at the campsite but are tolerated for long term campers. They have assorted types of camping sites, including: primitive, water and electric, and full hookup. They also offer daily, weekly, weekend, seasonal, and monthly rates. The public restrooms have no heat and are closed when the weather gets cold.

    Still Waters Campground

Great for long term or seasonal

Lots of run down RV’s and shanty town in the back of the park. More long term renters than weekend warriors. One dump station, no sewage on the sites. One bathroom, for the whole Park. lots of tents sites (that were busy) makes for poor bathrooms. Not to mention its outhouse style with no climate control. 1/3 men’s bathrooms were out of order and 1/3 urinals were too. 2/3 showers where out of order and the two useable toilets, the door locks were broken. No wifi. Fires are allowed. Fire pits are run down so be mindful. 2/5 bars for ATT services. Sites aren’t labeled or labeled extremely bad. Electrical seems very out dated. Make sure you have protection. Over priced at $60 + tax for the night. Scattered shade. Pull through sites mainly. Picnic tables have seen better days (years more like it). Good space between sites and access to the river for water sports. Little lake for fishing. No pet area and strict leash laws. I wanna give this a 2/5 because they were pleasant. They encouraged me to review on multiple sites but I think that would be bad for them so I’ll stick to my main review site. 1/5, if the price was better like 30-40/night maybe 2/5 but for the price of a motel 6 and only electrical and that is sketchy. Save your money book elsewhere or avoid.

Middle Fork Campground — Natural Bridge State Resort Park

Middle Fork - Natural Bridge SP

Just got back from a quick spring break trip to the Red River Gorge. We booked our site in Middle Fork back in January. We had site B024, pull through. Clean campground, nice staff. It is narrow getting down to the site and you can easily miss it as you take the curves of Rt11/Natural Bridge Rd. We have a 37' trailer that took the entire length of the pad. If you pull through with nose facing the river, ALL utilities are on the driver's side/left. 20-30-50 amp plus water hookup. Bring your H20 filter as the 💧 is slightly brown. Pad is asphalt, table and fire ring on small gravel. Bath house has 2 shower stalls, 3 commode, 2 sinks (guys side). There is NO internet/wifi as the the supply line to the campground was cut/damaged 2+ yrs ago. Also, you are in a valley. If wx is clear you might get 2 bars/4G service. My teenagers survived. All the amenities for the park are a short drive or an easy walk. Had a great experience all around. Check out the Gorge Underground and take the SkyLift for an easy climb to Natural Bridge.

    Three Springs Campground

    Nice quiet clean place

Quiet lil place clean showers and bathrooms extremely friendly staff who will go out of their way to help you set up. (Was offered hoses and power cords if needed). I stayed in 4A and leveled with ease . It’s a back In Only but they are there with you to guide. Dog friendly which is a big bonus. Has some on site cats too. We are 36 class A but had many different sites available and some great looking primitive sites as well. We will be back to relax and get back to nature.

    A.J. Jolly Park & Campground

    AJ Jolly Flatwood section

So most if the sites are large enough for 30 and larger RV’s but we’re designed by someone who was clueless. On the general setup of newer campers and motorhomes. Pad are about 12 x12 concrete so that’s a plus but the location of the pads if you want to use your RV awning means your wheels in what ever your using are goi g to be nearly off the level area or in the grass. Sites 7 11 10 3 are the best.the power for site 7 is on the wrong side so your going to need an extension possibly All the premium sites have 30/50 amp hook ups and water. Dump station is about 500 ft away. The equestrian sites are 500 ft away they are big enough for 30 ft trailers site 5 is ok but it’s pad is about 6 ft off the road between the sites. We have stayed at all the mentioned sites. Again not bad just weird setup. Bath house is new very clean closest to sites 10 12 11 9 and 7 they have a large covered area for events also in the Flatwood area most of the sites are on the lake front. Fishing is t to bad. The park has a golf course. The other side of the camp ground had 4 or so yurts for rental. And I believe this year may have cabins didn’t look know it’s in the works. The tent camping area is fairly large. Been years since we have done that type of camping. Great for pop up campers and campers smaller that 28 ft Ada access on the older side of the it’s close to shopping g for what ever you man need park is clean and well policed they also have canoe and some other rentals

    Kentucky Horse Park Campground

Easy access for my quick overnight stay

Car camped in the primitive electric area. Parking is on grass - some spots are shaded. Primitive and primitive electric sites are FCFS. Lots of availability on Sunday night. Regular sites look nice - paved with picnic table, big trees. Clean bath house. Lots of amenities. Family friendly.

Guide to Carlisle

RV camping options near Carlisle, Kentucky include several facilities within a 30-mile radius, offering varied terrain and camping experiences. The region features a mix of established RV parks with different hookup capabilities and seasonal operation schedules. Most campgrounds in this area provide gravel pads rather than concrete surfaces, with some locations presenting navigation challenges due to terrain features.

What to do

Fishing access points: Three Springs Campground in Corinth offers a small fishing pond, providing a relaxed fishing experience for campers. "We have 4 dogs and they were very welcomed by everyone. The pool is nice although they do sell memberships to it for outside folks to use which means there can be a lot of people there on a holiday or very warm day," notes Tonya W. from Camp Nelson RV Park.

Hiking trails: Multiple hiking trails are available at campgrounds in the region. "It has 3 beautiful hiking trails. It has a small fishing pond with a beautiful fountain that provides a neat camping experience," according to Three Springs Campground and RV Park H. Some trails have varying difficulty levels, so check with campground hosts about trail conditions.

Kayaking opportunities: The Licking River provides kayaking options for various skill levels. "The grandkids love to play in the river, which is about 1 to 2 feet deep at this location. Great for wading and catching minnows, crawdads, and such," shares Karen P. from The Ole Cornfield.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Campground cleanliness is frequently mentioned in positive reviews. "Bathrooms were super clean and showers were great. We really enjoyed our stay here," notes Sandra&Dunn at The Ole Cornfield. This attention to cleanliness extends to common areas at many parks.

Helpful staff: Staff assistance makes a significant difference in camping experiences. "James, Lauren and their crew were the best! Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The camping is just so relaxing, right on the river, open space, beautiful land!" says DD at The Ole Cornfield.

Swimming pools: Several campgrounds feature swimming pools as amenities. "Very well cared for, lots to do. Swimming pool with small water slide, fishing pond, jumping pillow, events at picnic shelter," explains Mathew H. at Whispering Hills RV Park.

What you should know

Site spacing: Many RV parks have sites positioned close together. "The sites are gravel and most are not level, but not too bad. There is all manner of leveling going on! There seem to be some full-time residents," explains Jill B. about Whispering Hills RV Park.

Seasonal operations: Several campgrounds close during winter months. "Northern Kentucky RV Park in Crittenden maintains 80 sites with both 30- and 50-amp electric options, operating seasonally from March through November," while others like Whispering Hills and Outpost RV Park operate year-round.

Water pressure variations: Water systems at campgrounds may require regulators. "Water pressure is pretty high make sure you use a regulator," advises Mathew H. about facilities at Whispering Hills RV Park.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Several parks feature playgrounds for children. "It was perfect for our kids and dogs. Kids were none stop walking the dogs, and scootering up and down the road. Everyone was so kind, there was even live music!" shares josh S. at Elkhorn Creek RV Park.

Kid-friendly water features: Ponds and wading areas provide safe water activities. "My grandkids loved playing in the river catching crawdads and tadpoles. Perfect for wading. We brought our kayaks and were shuttled up river by the staff," explains Karen P. about The Ole Cornfield.

Entertainment options: Some parks schedule regular activities. "The campground has a very nice pool and is very quiet. A bit tight for larger rigs (ours is a 40' DP). The owner is very friendly and has several younger folks working there that are very friendly and accommodating," notes Randy G. at Camp Nelson RV Park.

Tips from RVers

Leveling requirements: Many campsites require leveling equipment. "Sites are pretty close together. Didn't really matter to us as we were camping beside some other people that were with us. Had we not been though, it would have been uncomfortable," shares Mathew H. about site conditions at Whispering Hills RV Park.

Pull-through availability: Pull-through sites ease parking for larger rigs. "We pulled in late, around 7:30pm and had been in contact with Justin prior to arrival. He was waiting for us with a colleague and escorted us to our site," describes Sandra&Dunn about arriving at The Ole Cornfield.

Dump station access: Not all sites offer sewer connections, requiring use of dump stations. "Park is nice with lots of trees and water. Owners are very nice and very helpful with tips and suggestions for the RV, and local eateries," says Marci R. about Three Springs Campground.
