Cabela's - Lexington

Highway noise carries across the asphalt parking area behind Cabela's Lexington, where RVs and car campers park for free overnight stays. The designated camping spots sit on the right side of the building, away from the main customer parking lot. Staff direct overnight visitors to these specific areas rather than the front lot.

Six pull-through sites accommodate rigs up to 41 feet, with level parking on paved surfaces. The location provides basic amenities including a dumpster and trash service, though water availability varies by visit. Some campers report finding a dump station with potable water, while others note no water access during their stay. The adjacent Buck's Market offers gas and supplies next door.

Traffic from the nearby highway creates consistent background noise throughout the night. "Bring earplugs or a sound machine," advises licia S. about managing the road sounds. The parking area stays well-lit for security, though some darker spots accommodate campers preferring less illumination. Grassy areas around the perimeter provide space for walking dogs.

The location works well for travelers needing a quick overnight stop with shopping access. Other retail camping options like Walmart — Lexington Supercenter operate nearby for campers comparing overnight parking choices in the area.

Many campers appreciated the clean, level parking areas and friendly staff at this popular overnight stop. Most found it surprisingly quiet, though highway traffic can be noticeable. Amenities like water and dump stations appear inconsistent.

Perfect spot

The perfect spot for a quick overnight stay. Large parking lot with plenty of room that seems to be pretty popular with travelers.

Safe but next to highway

I’m so grateful for this spot to sleep during my trip. I felt safe and the location is good. Only 3 stars due to highway traffic being so close. Bring earplugs or a sound machine. Made a purchase. Thank you Cabela’s.

PS parking is to right side of building. Bucks market with gas is next door.

Friendly Cat Visit

Tonight was my first boondock on this spiritual road trip I walked in and asked “sure” they said real friendly so I picked up some bear spray for down the road and settled in I wasn’t alone for very long a cat came by I gave her some water and went over the mart and bought her a can of food. Lots of restaurants and everything else near by.

It’s a parking lot

It’s a parking lot and exactly what you would expect. There were a half dozen other vehicles and was pretty quiet

Over night to the Smokie Mountains

Pulled into lot with 41 ft 5th wheel, went in and ask to stay overnight in parking lot and was told where to park. The area was clean, quiet and a bonus of shopping in the store. We stayed a week later there.

Great parking for the night

Fairly level spots on the side of the store. Staff prefers that you park on the side vs the regular parking lot, but I saw an RV out there. Room for about 5 or 6 RVs, but we were the only one back here on a Saturday night. No dumpsite or water available at this Cabela's. Very quiet.

Good, easy, safe

We car camped here and felt very safe! It was well lit but also had some good dark spots, either way not an issue if you have window coverings and/or sleep masks. It was very quiet!! There were several other RV campers and a vanlifer there, plenty of open lot spaces for pull throughs as well as three designated pull through RV spaces. This place has turned us toward using Cabela's more often!

Surprisingly Nice

This was our first time staying at a Cabela’s and it was really nice.  They had 6 rv sites that were all pull through.  They had a dump station with potable water and dumpster close by.  You are in a parking lot behind the building but it was quiet and there were several grassy areas to walk the dogs.
