Awesome spot!

Super clean and great location, but docked a star because of the price. After fees when booking, it comes out to about $42.00 a night.

Showers and bathrooms are spread out nicely. We tent camped and the noise wasnt bad at all. Though there was some mystery animal howling/screeching through out the night haha. Super close to the water. Kayak rentals an restaurant down by the dock and a great place to load kayaks into the water! Will definitely be back. Just make sure you book in advance! Fills up fast.

Cool Area, limited spots

This is a nice area and it's free so you can't beat that. Unfortunately there aren't a ton of spots to camp. I've been twice now and both times the actual camp sites were full by the time I got there (2-3pm Friday). Leaving us to grab one of the few remaining dispersed spots. If you can get on it super early you may get lucky. The road in was fine for 4x4 but there was one stretch with some ruts that could prove hairy if you aren't good at driving on dirt.

Great Park with good sites

We really enjoyed our 4 nite stay at Pismo Sands, our site was huge, large grassy area that we shared with our friends who was in the site next to us. All the amenities, it was clean, quiet and very friendly. I highly recommend!!!

Amazing Views

•7 designated campsites with covered structure, picnic table and fire pit •A few additional overflow areas to park and camp •Pit toilet - BYO toilet paper •No trash receptacles •Great Verizon reception / Decent Sprint reception •Drive thru campsites (~2) for larger rigs •Beautiful views, clean and quiet •Plenty of fire roads to walk/hike/bike •Rough, washboard roads leading into camp •Popular area for shooting •Highly trafficked campsite - most campers only stayed 1 night •Pictures are taken late December •Daytime temps - 60’s •Nighttime temps - low 40’s •Free!

Clean, Rocky grounds

This is a great spot if proximity to water is important to you. Sites are well maintained but hard to come by—make reservations in advance! Hop away from water and another highlight are the nearby monarch groves where the butterflies migrate to the trees and you can walk through on paths.

Coastal side of the highway

Positioned directly across from Morro Bay high school, these grounds are directly off the exit and can’t be missed. It is on the coastal side of the highway with almost a direct shot to the flat beaches of Morro Bay with a direct view of Morro Rock. Staff was friendly, easy check in/out process (yay!)

Elephant seals and sunsets

This is a great stop if you want to spend some time with the elephant seals without the crowds of Big Sur.

Proximity to water

Proximity to water is definitely the highlight of this coastal grounds. Sites themselves are a bit small and very visible to neighbors, but we made a couple work for four families and were cozy. A stones throw away from the water, this campground is easy to visit at any point in the year weather-wise. Just don’t forget to make reservations!

Good family spot

My family used to visit this campground for its easy accessibility for younger children. Deciduous trees and leafy ground cover make for a comfortable experience. Canoeing and kayak rentals available, beware of spiders!

One of the only places open in the area

During covid there’s not much open. This place has great views and spread out enough on the extra dispersed spots to feel solitudes
