    Camp San Luis Obispo RV

    It's.... OK

This "campground" is on an Army Reserve and National Guard base, with the security that comes with it. Military ID is required. The RV spots are stacked next to each other, with no trees or barriers of any kind in between. Right next to a road, so plenty of traffic noise. Positives are; decent bathrooms, nearby laundry, full hookups.

Couple things to note; the billeting office where you check in is about .25 miles from the RV park. Guards at the gate did not know about the RV park at all, let alone how to direct us to it. Billeting office closes at 4pm.

Also, be aware that pricing has changed. I was charged $10 for overflow camping and $31 per night for a hookup spot.

    Morro Strand State Beach Campground

    Beautiful...but pick your site wisely!

Morro Strand is steps away from a beautiful stretch of beach filled with sand dollars and an amazing view of Morro rock looking south. It gets windy starting around 2pm into the evening - right when you are setting up camp. If you are tent camping on the beach side, bring some extra long tent pegs as you are staking into sand. We had to go to Ace hardware while we were there to get extra long tent pegs. We also had a few ropes that came in handy to tie the tent down further.

If you are tent camping, make sure to get a spot on the beach side. Beach side sites are: A-D (30-40ft long) and odd numbered sites 1-45 (24ft or less). The middle sites (even numbered sites 2-46) are in a narrow parking median and pretty tight on space. Our site D was far and away the largest site with the highest view (meaning we could see Morro rock from our tent) and had the most distance from other campers. Snag that one if you get a chance. Not all beachside sites have views of the oceans since some sit further down. Odd sites 35-45 have a better view of the beach.

All the RV hook up sites are on the east side of the campground/parking lot.

The bathrooms are centrally located, but there are no showers. Luckily your parking pass gets you into Morro Bay State Beach Park and you can buy tokens there and shower.

I would definitely return. This location is beautiful and peaceful with amazing long empty stretches of beach to walk on. It stayed pretty cool, even in June. Downtown Morro Bay is delightful to spend the day walking through with amazing seafood, cute shops and even a skateboard museum. We even saw sea otters playing in the bay!

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was that it seems like an old beach parking lot that was converted into a campsite, so not all the sites are great. But the location can't be beat and if you get a beachside spot you are good to go!

Vines RV Resort, A Sun RV Resort

    Not Luxury

“Luxury RV Sites” not so much I’m not sure why they claim luxury.

It’s just cement pads on top of each other so no one has any privacy from their neighbors. Definitely not worth the$1600 a month to stay here. You would think for$1600 there would be more and better options offered.

It is a very clean campground, I will give them that. It says it includes a picnic table at the back in sites and we were there for 3 months and never saw 1 picnic table.

We are dog friendly people, we did not travel with our dogs, the campground is full of dogs which is great, our daughter loved it. Except there was constant barking from all over the campground. My neighbors dogs barked multiple times a day and multiple times at night, constantly waking us all up in the middle of the night and my daughter during her nap midday.

They do not enforce their own quiet hour rule. Like I said dogs were constantly barking, people playing loud music, loud diesel pickups and playing loud music driving throughout the campground.

They offer a great pool area, one bigger pool but it’s always in the shade because of the big solar panels they built. And one smaller pool in full sun which is nice. But it doesn’t matter because the water is so cold there’s no way we would ever try to take our toddlers swimming in those pools. There’s also a large jacuzzi in the shade.

It is a family friendly campground unless you have kids that nap during the day. It is very noisy. Not to mention it is located right along the freeway so you’re constantly hearing the roaring vehicle and truck sounds from that.

They had some tiny homes lining the outside of the campground that they were removing, I’m assuming to make more room for RVs. Which is great Monday-Friday. Then they were removing them Saturday and Sunday as well. Sunday is my husbands only day off and the only full day we get to spend together as a family. And we got to spend our beautiful Sunday sitting outside with our toddler playing and grilling, while listening to the banging and hammering and the loud trucks taking out the tiny homes on a SUNDAY.

They do have an awesome building by the pool that offers use of a play/game room, kitchen, grills, and dining room. Which is great but it’s constantly filled with people who are not staying in the campground on the weekends, so the people that are staying there and paying for the amenities can’t use it on the weekends.

Like I said, definitely not worth the$1600 monthly fees for long term living. If you’re here for just a night or two might not be that big of a deal. When we first got here we were told it would be$1400 monthly payments and not even a month in we get a call that they are raising the rates to$1600. Quite a joke of a“RV Resort”.

Right off the highway, lots of wineries

An easy and accessible RV park. The dog area isn't much, but the bathrooms near the office are nice. The bathrooms in the back weren't quite as nice. Spots are close together like any RV park, but you can tap into full hookups. Price was great too. Be sure to check out a winery or two!

Washburn Primitive Campground — Hearst San Simeon State Park

    Hill top big sky view

Nice family oriented campground. Many tents, trailers, few rv’s. Spots are fairly far apart 50-70 feet. Just fire ring, table, and parking spot. Vault toilets. Few trees. In mid June mostly dry grass with little shade, but fine tent pitching area. Most spots are mostly level for rv parking. Few bugs. Hawks, crows, towhee, quail. Should be good star gazing. Quiet. No road noise. Somewhat windy.

Coastal Dunes RV Park & Campground

    Popular Spot but Great Location

This campsite is just south of the City of Pismo Beach along Highway 1 (albeit its called something different along this stretch). It’s a mixture of tent and trailer camping. Plenty of amenities on site but also very much a communal experience. Don’t expect to have a lot of space between you and your neighbor or much privacy. But heck there are stones throw from the beach and there is a trail on the south end to access. Also adjacent to the monarch butterfly sanctuary

    Nice place to stay

Nice sites, all on sand/hard pack. Lots of permanent campers or long term folks. They had horseback riding and a small playground. We came in late and it was hard to find our map and site reservations.

No one ever answered the phone whenever we tried to call, days prior, day of, etc. that was disappointing.

Our site was night to the dunes so easy walk to the sand, but about 30 minute hard walk to the ocean, it was worth it.

Oceano Campground — Pismo State Beach

    Great campsites, awful bathrooms

This campground came to my rescue on a Sunday night when most everything else in the area was full. Coastal Dunes RV Park down the road handles the check-ins for Oceano. This is a small campground with just a single loop, but all the amenities: full hookups at every site and a central bathroom. My site was neat and clean, and there were bushes that provided some privacy.

The bathrooms at Oceano have high-flow faucets, but that's about all they have going for them. The men's room was in dire need of a cleaning and general tune up when I visited. The bathrooms at the nearby Oceano Memorial Park were marginally cleaner, but a superior alternative is the clean, modern, single occupancy bathrooms at Pismo State Beach campground, a minute's walk down the road. I would have preferred a porta potty to the bathrooms at Oceano.

    Beautiful

Beautiful out-of-the-way park halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Lots of green space lots of room for kids to play full hook ups available .bathrooms are neat and clean. There is a nice free museum. It’s a county park reasonable rates $25 a night. Unfortunately it’s closed till 2021 due to COVID-19.

    Great for families and pets!

We loved it here. The resort is so clean and very well kept. Lots of amenities: gym, pool, bar and bistro, miniature golf, etc. Elite sites offer great views but even the 'low end' premium sites are incredible. You can lock in a site for an extra $30.

    Full hook-ups, free WiFi, cable.

Guided activities are held throughout the day for families and evening activities (live music, Cornhole tourney for the adults). There is plenty to do here, you won't be bored.

Downtown Paso Robles is 15 minutes away but there are wineries all around. Reservations for tastings have been required at most.

    Great location!

Best part about the RV park is its location, right next to the dunes! The RV park is clean and well maintained. Sites are spaced close together but no major issues with noisy neighbors. Nice little dog run. Family friendly. We went during COVID time so many of the community areas (playground, showers) were closed, but didn't detract from an enjoyable getaway.

    Full hooks ups.

This is a very clean, beautiful RV park. It's easy to get into with big trailers. We have a 35foot 5th wheel and no problems getting in. It's a newer park so not a lot of shade trees. Bring an ez up. Lots of wineries along the road. We did the wine line and they pick up and drop off at the campground. They also have cabins you can rent if friends want to go but they don't have a trailer.

    Beachy RV resort

Huge RV park right on the beach. Always busy yet clean and well maintained. Can walk to the beach and walk to town for coffee/food with more nearby beaches and things to do if you want to drive. Big swimming pool and other activities. The downside is the sites are tiny and you’re packed in super tight with other RVs but it feels lively and kinda like a big tailgate party.

    Very nice!

Very well kept and clean. Shower area is very nice. Need a key code to go anywhere. Great amenities. Beautiful pool. An outdoor bar, but only open certain months. Nice group camping area. Green grass areas. Mini concrete pads though not perfectly level? Close to lots of wineries and a water park but not really safe to walk or bike to. Probably one of the most beautiful hot tub areas I've ever seen in an RV park

    Morro Dunes RV Park

    Very friendly perfect location

    California, Morro Dunes RV Park

Located right on the beach and ocean near Morro Rock. Within walking distance from Downtown Morro Bay.

Directions: From highway 1 exit at E. G. Lewis Highway(41) and go west toward the beach. The campground will be on the left in less than one mile.

Please see the Campbase map tab for the exact location.

Comment Morro Dunes RV Park is open all year with 170 RV and tent sites available. What a fun place to stay in Morro Bay. It's the best campground in Morro Bay if you want to be right on the beach and close to all the activity of the beach, marina, bay, and downtown area. You can park the car and walk or bike everywhere. The campground is the closest camp spot to Morro Rock. There is a lot of "fun factor" at this campground.

Make reservations early for this campground. It's usually booked solid all summer. If you are unable to obtain a camp site, at the bottom of this page are other near bye campgrounds.

The campground has paved camp roads with level crushed rock parking pads. Picnic tables and fire rings are also available. Shade spots are limited.

There is HorsebackIng in the dunes in front of the campground. There is also a dirt area for parking and unloading horses.

Cell phone service in the area is excellent.

    Morro Bay State Park Campground

    Awesome Location, Tight Spots

Love being at the coast and close to the water. This campground is right next to the local golf course known as the “poor man’s Pebble Beach” which sits adjacent to Morro Bay. However, it is more of a trailer and RV park based on the setup of the main campground. There is a more isolated tent-only area, but it is significantly smaller than the main area. While we enjoyed being in this serene coastal town, the campground was busier than we would like and we probably will visit other nearby campgrounds that are more spread out.
