California State Parks wants to thank our park visitors for helping us keep our parks and environment clean. In 2018, State Parks installed new RV dump station collection systems at ten state park units as part of a pilot program to help us protect the environment and are added amenities for our visitors.

Following the success of the initial pilot program in 2018, an additional eleven park units have been added to the program.  The service is available for campers, day-use or transient visitors for $10-$20 per use, depending on the location. Please note that visitors with current reservations arriving on or after April 13, 2021, who are interested in using the RV dump stations may be required to pay the use fee. The price per campsite for these state parks does not include the use of a dump station.  View the following link:  Camping Information

In an effort to maintain consistency throughout California State Parks’ reserveable camping inventory and due to a limited number of reservable campsites at the park unit, each profile is limited to 2 reservations at the same time.

4 x 4 recommended

We love being able to camp directly on the beach, and have done so many times in Texas and in Louisiana, but wouldn't recommend it here unless you are in a 4wd. We did see 2 skoolies on the beach, but then we also saw a pickup truck stuck in the sand in the parking lot outside of the beach, so there's that.

Camping overnight is only $10, and the beach is wide open for camping. It was very busy during the day on a weekday in August, so I can imagine the weekends are packed.

This is a fun beach in a fun, low key beach town, and we love coming here.

Fun place!

Great place to rv camp. Pretty cheap considering your camping right by the water. Can get windy at times and weekends/ holidays get super crowded. The dunes are fun if you have a motor vehicle/ATV. Downfall there’s no dump station but you can call a company to empty your tanks( for a cost)

Dunes

This is one of the few beaches you can drive on in CA. Come prepared with 4WD. Ride ATVs on the dunes and camp on the beach. Lots of trash and always windy.
