Overnight Parking Near Hearst Castle

Pulled off Highway 1 in the shadow of Hearst Castle, this roadside vehicle camping spot sits directly across from an ocean viewpoint with no posted prohibitions against overnight stays. It is free, drive-in, and big rig accessible. Expect company: on a typical night, a mix of vans, RVs, and cars fills the pullout, and road noise picks up once morning traffic resumes. Tent campers will find no room to spread out here. Those wanting established facilities can look at William Randolph Hearst Memorial Park less than a mile west, or explore camping near San Simeon for more developed options in the area.

Pretty, but very bait spot....

Literally on the side of the road. I did see another RV, but not sure at all if this is okay. Very pretty with cool view.

There are no signs. Next to the 1, and cars zipping by mostly 50-60 occasionally.

Gonna sleep until sunrise then GTFO. I got caught after dark here and none of the hotels had rooms that I called. Very busy location, I gather, for visitors, so book your hotels ahead or be prepared to sleep a bit lightly.

Free overnight parking in pretty location

One of few free overnight in-vehicle camping spots in the area. This is across from a viewpoint pull off and does not have any no camping signs.

The night I camped here there were about 10 other vans/RVs/cars here before I arrived at 10 PM. This is in the shadows of hurst Castle and steps away from the ocean.

Not a spot for tent campers or those needing to spread out. It is truly just a pull off on the side of the road. But, it felt surprisingly safe, was not too loud until traffic picked up in the morning, is beautiful, and close to both Cambria and San Simeon.

Good spot for free overnight parking if you are driving hwy 1.
