    Sonoran Desert RV Park

    Well maintained and very friendly

Important: If you plan to arrive after hours you must call ahead so you can get the gate code. They gave us a temporary spot that was pull thru due to the time of our late arrival. Then at noon they escorted us to our site to set up for the duration of our visit. I included an images of daily, weekly, and monthly rates for 2023 and full list of amenities and the winter activities. There are also deluxe sites available. This camp ground is pet friendly with a dog park area and offered daily planned activities. We participated in game night, line dancing classes, aquatic aerobics in the heated pool, and the New Years party. The showers are very clean and the laundry room was immaculate. The sites have full hook up 30/50 amp and sites up to 100'x55'. They offer propane services. There isn't anything to do in the town.

    Sonoran Desert RV Park

    Great Experience

Our RV GPS and Waze took us right to this very nice campground(CG). Check-in was quick, and we were escorted to back-in site 503 with FHUs. The sites here are long and wide enough for our 40’ fifth wheel and F450 truck. The sites in our area were also decently spaced for a private CG. There was also room for an OHV if we’d brought one. The guest WiFi works pretty well with a download of 6.73 and an upload of.92. Water pressure was good at 50 psi, and we got 4 bars on Verizon. There are a few trees in the CG, but we had a clear shot of the northern sky for Starlink. They also have cable, but we didn’t use it. They had a very nice 4000 sq ft, sectioned-off dog park with two of the areas/corrals having grass. Behind the show/laundry/pool facility is where you drop off your propane tank for fills. They do not have a propane service that comes to the site. We were also impressed with their PETHouse sites where you have a private dog run. Their laundry facility was larger than most CGs of this size and it was very clean. There’s also a wash pad where you can wash your OHV or truck. Gilla Bend has a Family Dollar and a couple of small grocery stores plus eating establishments. You’re about 30 minutes from major amenities in Buckeye and an hour from Phoenix. We stayed here with friends for 4 nights and enjoyed ourselves.

    Leaf Verde RV Resort

    Clean RV park

Easy to get to from the 10 freeway, good sized RV park w decent sized sites, park is kept clean, pool, Pickleball courts, cornhole area, dog park, huge laundry room, and the people are nice. Regular pull through spots are kind of like buddy spots as your doors face each other. Back in and deluxe sites are decent sized. Roadways are asphalt and large enough to maneuver bigger rigs through. All sites are full hook up w 30 & 50 amp electrical.

    Budget RV Park

Now called Sundance West RV Resort

I think if you're  looking for a place to winter, this is a good Campground.

Pros: Very clean, nicely landscaped for AZ, staff friendly, good grocery & dining options nearby. Lots of OTA channels, pool, corn hole, laundry, dog park, activities  etc.

Cons: pull through was long, but not quite level, WIFI does not reach the pull through sights in the back at all .... and they know it. Couldn't figure out how to hook to their cable. Permit to wash your rig $10 for the season.

Guess that should have been our first clue... they have a season. Sort of winter camp for snowbirds. If that is what you are looking for, it is very nice.

We were in the area to visit friends, dump/pump/resupply after boondocking, and do Taxes. Not having wifi was kind of a big deal for us. Being told we'd have to use the internet in the clubhouse wasn't  going to cut it. Who wants to drag all their personal financial information to a common area?

Normally  it would not have been a big deal, we do have a Hotspot, but at $431 weekly rate, $80 nightly, in this day & age, routers for wifi to the whole park should be a given.

Otherwise we did enjoy our stay here, and met some great people.

    Sonoran Desert RV Park

Very nice spread out park to relax for the night

We stayed here one night and would recommend it for anyone wanting to enjoy the night skies, having some distance between RV pull in's, and relax while driving cross country.

The staff was welcoming and showed us to our sites and ensured we hooked up with no issues.  Then, let us enjoy the night.

The dog run was great and well maintained.  We thought he pet rock cemetery was touching (passed on pets have rocks with their names on them laid out in a small memorial).

We had a pull through full hook up site.  The site was required minor leveling, but no need to unhook. Wifi worked great.  There was road and rail noise though.

We are not sure if there are really any local attractions.

Old Airstrip Camping & Staging Area

    Free and Beautiful!

We have a 4WD truck, so we were able to get past most of the RVs and toy haulers, but they all seemed like family friendly people! The burros are no joke! You can hear and see them all around you. We also heard a few coyotes right after dusk which was cool. We had our two dogs with us and just kept them on the leash so we had no negative cactus experiences... Overall, a really cool place to be even if you don’t have an OHV. We got in around 6PM and were able to find a secluded spot with a fire ring already there, no problem.

    McDowell Mountain Regional Park

    Great sites with great views!

Very quiet! Lots of hiking and bike riding trails with a bike course! Playground. Pet friendly. Very clean and friendly hosts. Close to fountain hills if you need anything in town. Close to town but very much felt like you where away on vacation no hustle bustle in the desert! The views where fantastic. Sites where clean and spacious a lot of space between each site for privacy! Will definitely be back!

    White Tank Mountain

    Peaceful retreat

This park is so close to town, but far enough to get some quiet night sky! There are standard campsites and a more primitive camping area. The Willow Canyon site is big enough for a full length Sprinter, though the office says 16’ is the length limit.

Lots of trails for hiking, biking and horses. Brand new showers, restrooms and a dishwashing area. Dogs allowed too!

I’m on Verizon and only got a single bar in the park. The library is near the entrance if you need to get your WiFi fix!

    Monte Vista RV Resort

This park really lives up to its Name “Resort”

My wife and two mini-Daschunds stayed in a 40 ft Fifth Wheel. All the sites are back-in but all have concrete parking pads and patio. Gravel surrounds each campsite and we have noticed maintenance crews raking the gravel every other day. Close to all the fun stuff on the Superstition Mountains. This park is associated with a very large senior retirement village. All amenities you would expect and meticulously maintained. All the staff that we came in contact with was very nice and helpful. You can’t go wrong staying at this park

Guide to Goodyear

RV campgrounds near Goodyear, Arizona provide desert camping options within proximity to Phoenix metropolitan attractions. Winter temperatures average 65-70°F during daytime hours, making this region particularly appealing from October through April. Most RV parks in the area feature concrete or gravel pads with varying degrees of spacing between sites.

What to do

Explore White Tanks Regional Park: Located a short drive from Cotton Lane RV Resort, this park offers hiking trails and desert scenery. "Short drive to White Tanks, Superstition Mountain, Mystery Castle, Lake Pleasant, Phoenix Historical District," notes Nancy C., who found the location convenient for exploring regional attractions.

Visit citrus groves: Many parks in the area feature fruit trees as part of their landscaping. At Leaf Verde RV Resort, visitors appreciate the park's accessibility. "Easy to get to from the 10 freeway, good sized RV park w decent sized sites, park is kept clean, pool, Pickleball courts, cornhole area, dog park, huge laundry room," explains Dawn F., highlighting amenities beyond just hookups.

Use onsite recreation facilities: Many parks offer activities beyond basic camping. "We loved the three pools, multiple hot tubs and modern showers and laundry rooms," reports Lyf Uninterrupted about Mesa Spirit RV Resort, noting the extensive recreational options available within the property boundaries.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Maintenance standards vary between properties but cleanliness remains a priority. "Clean bathrooms, great lounge with a library, pool," summarizes Trinity R. about Leaf Verde RV Resort, highlighting the well-maintained common areas that enhance visitor experience.

Spacious sites: Site dimensions differ significantly between parks. "Sites are huge! They have full hookups, a do park, a car washing station, laundry and a bath house," reports Leslie J. about Sonoran Desert RV Park, appreciating the ample space provided at this particular property.

Friendly neighbors: Social atmosphere ranks high for many visitors. "Made fast friends with the neighbors, got tons of recommendations from anyone walking or biking for things to do nearby," shares Mary H. about Mesa Spirit RV Resort, noting the welcoming community atmosphere common in these parks.

What you should know

Age restrictions apply: Several parks maintain age requirements. "At least one person travelling and staying in any unit must be able to show proof of age 55 or older," explains Staci R. about Encore Paradise RV, highlighting a common policy in the region.

Pet policies vary significantly: Some parks maintain specific breed restrictions. "We were told we could not have a reservation because our dog was 'mixed'. We were actually going to drop the dog off with family in Phoenix, but were told if we even enter the gates with the dog in our truck they would cancel our reservation," reports Jeff H. about Cotton Lane RV Resort, detailing their strict purebred-only policy.

Sites can be tight: Space constraints exist at many properties. "This is basically an RV parking lot with lots of traffic noise and nothing pretty to look at. Don't look at the pictures as they do not reflect what you are dealing with," warns Seashel about Mesa Spirit RV Resort, providing perspective on the reality versus marketing materials.

Tips for camping with families

Consider overnight parking alternatives: For families needing just a quick stopover without amenities, alternative options exist. "We tried this out- no reservation (I did call ahead, but indeed, curb spots are unreserved), just show up at dusk or later, and this very nice, truly chill but soo ginormous resort let us park right in the front/middle for the night," explains Sara H. about their Mesa Spirit RV Resort experience, noting the flexibility for unscheduled stops.

Verify family-friendly policies: Not all RV parks welcome children. "When she showed up, she was told she would have to leave as children were not welcome. They should've caught this in the reservation information weeks in advance," shares Nadine A. about their Mesa Spirit experience, highlighting the importance of confirming child policies before arrival.

Look for recreational amenities: Swimming pools provide welcome relief from desert heat. "The pool is refreshing and if you aren't into swimming there is a pool table, dog park and shuffle board to keep you busy," notes Jen H. about Leaf Verde RV Resort, identifying activities suitable for different age groups.

Tips from RVers

Assess site layout before booking: The arrangement of sites impacts privacy and comfort. "Regular pull through spots are kind of like buddy spots as your doors face each other. Back in and deluxe sites are decent sized," explains Dawn F. about Leaf Verde RV Resort, providing insight on different site configurations.

Check internet options: Connectivity varies between properties. "Internet is crap, you have to spend $100 to get decent service. I guess if you are a longer term resident that makes sense," notes Seashel about Mesa Spirit RV Resort, highlighting potential additional costs for reliable connectivity.

Consider vehicle washing facilities: Some RV campgrounds near Goodyear, Arizona provide dedicated washing areas. "There's also a wash pad where you can wash your OHV or truck," mentions MickandKarla W. about Sonoran Desert RV Park, pointing out an amenity particularly valuable after desert travel.
