Apache Palms RV Park - PERMANENTLY CLOSED

East of downtown Tempe, Apache Palms RV Park accommodated RVs up to 70 feet on gravel sites with concrete pads before its permanent closure. The urban location meant road noise from the adjacent street affected sites near the front, while spots toward the back of the property provided more distance from traffic sounds.

The park featured full hookups, a heated pool, and hot tub that drew positive comments from visitors. Laundry facilities operated at budget-friendly rates of $1 for washing and 75 cents for drying. Access required entering from the east due to light rail restrictions that prevented left turns into the property. Several campers noted the backing challenges, particularly for larger rigs navigating the main road entrance during busy traffic periods.

"Clean heated pool and hot tub," noted Christopher A., reflecting the maintained amenities that distinguished this urban park. The property welcomed families and enforced a no-pets policy. Staff assistance was available for backing larger RVs, though experiences with personnel varied among visitors.

The Tempe location provided walking access to restaurants and proximity to Arizona State University. For current camping options in the area, campers can explore places to camp near Tempe since this facility no longer operates.

Campers regularly cited the well-maintained facilities, heated pool, and friendly staff as key strengths. Several noted that back sites offer more quiet than front spots near the busy street, making location choice important for noise-sensitive visitors.

Okay for the city

We didn’t have a bad stay but wouldn’t return. I get that city parks cost more but don’t think it’s worth it. We have a 35ft trailer which was pretty difficult to back up, thankfully there was construction so the lane on the main road was blocked off but don’t think we would have been able to park if there was traffic flowing. Front office gal was nice and thorough. An older gentleman working there helped us back up but then gave me serious attitude after which made me uncomfortable. Would highly recommend staying away from the road.

Gem in Tempe

We were anticipating cramped spaces for the location. More space here than at some other RV parks we have been to. Our 37ft travel trailer fit fine, and seems like a well designed park for backing in compared to some we have been at! Park on gravel, but concrete pad for walking/“yard”. Also has class A, so big rig friendly. Pool is nice, we feel safe being here with our young kids. We were having trouble finding a non 55+ place. Laundry units are older but work great and are only $1 and $.75 to wash and dry! Pool and hot tub are nice. Lots of newer buildings around RV park, hopefully it doesn’t sell out to developers and can remain here! Doesn’t seem like there are too many long term people here which is nice. Lots of open spots, easy check in, I don’t give 5 stars often, but this gets it. Make sure you come in from the east as there is no left turn into the park due to the light rail line.

Next to light rail

Clean heated pool and hot tub. Best to try to get spot towards back of park where it’s more quiet and off main road. Decent bathrooms and shower. Can’t complain

All ages! (Not 55+)

Thank goodness we finally found an RV park that would let us “under 55 years old” people stay here for the night. It’s clean and well kept. There’s a pool and hot tub and laundry and full hook ups. Located in downtown Tempe and a quick walk to anything you need. Dog friendly. Very quiet. We are thankful to find this park while passing through. Highly recommend.

Clean, friendly and great location

This RV park is well maintained by a very friendly and helpful staff. It's located near the Arizona State University campus and the light rail line. Lots of convenient restaurants nearby. Full hookups, laundry and a pool with a hot tub.

Across the street from a metro station

I stayed 5 nights here, back in with FHU. The staff was very friendly and the proximity to downtown is great! I was all the way at the front near the bathroom/office, but also near the street. A lot of foot traffic throughout the night being in an urban setting. Next time, I'll request to be a little further back into the park itself.
