The Leaf Verde RV Resort in Buckeye provides spacious sites for large motorhomes with full hookups and allows pets. One camper shared that "the roadways are asphalt and large enough to maneuver bigger rigs through. All sites are full hook up with 30 & 50 amp electrical." Cell service remains strong throughout most parks, with one visitor reporting "AT&T coverage was quite good, with 2-3 Bars of 5G+ service and speeds up to 23 MB/s" at Desert Shadows RV Resort. Winter months bring significantly higher occupancy as seasonal visitors arrive from northern states. Reservations become essential from November through March, particularly for premium sites with lake views or extra parking space. Pets are welcome at most locations except Encore Paradise RV, which maintains a strict no-pet policy alongside its age requirement.

    North Ranch

    Good for One Night

North Ranch is an Escapees RV park with large gravel lot and closely spaced sites. Full hook up with only 30 amp available. There is also another area for dry camping. This is a good place if just passing through and need to do some laundry and dump and fill and take a nice long shower. The sites are fairly close as most RV parks are, clean flat gravel sites. Nothing special but nothing much to complain about either.

Road noise was constant as was ATV use as many of the campers had them. Covid restrictions in place and a mask is required.

    Amenities:

2 laundry areas with washer dryers for$1.25/each open 24/7

Dog walk and fenced in dog park near the main road

Showers Cactus garden walking area- very beautiful and well care for

    Propane on site

    Recycling bin- mixed recycling accepted

    Garbage dumpster

Dump station(was closed when we were there)

    Exercise room

Back in sites are$23 for escapee members and$28 for non members. Pull through sites are a few dollars more.

Weak Verizon and AT&T with occasional streaming if you don’t mind waiting for buffering.

    Leaf Verde RV Resort

    Clean RV park

Easy to get to from the 10 freeway, good sized RV park w decent sized sites, park is kept clean, pool, Pickleball courts, cornhole area, dog park, huge laundry room, and the people are nice. Regular pull through spots are kind of like buddy spots as your doors face each other. Back in and deluxe sites are decent sized. Roadways are asphalt and large enough to maneuver bigger rigs through. All sites are full hook up w 30 & 50 amp electrical.

Old Airstrip Camping & Staging Area

    Free and Beautiful!

We have a 4WD truck, so we were able to get past most of the RVs and toy haulers, but they all seemed like family friendly people! The burros are no joke! You can hear and see them all around you. We also heard a few coyotes right after dusk which was cool. We had our two dogs with us and just kept them on the leash so we had no negative cactus experiences... Overall, a really cool place to be even if you don’t have an OHV. We got in around 6PM and were able to find a secluded spot with a fire ring already there, no problem.

    White Tank Mountain

    Peaceful retreat

This park is so close to town, but far enough to get some quiet night sky! There are standard campsites and a more primitive camping area. The Willow Canyon site is big enough for a full length Sprinter, though the office says 16’ is the length limit.

Lots of trails for hiking, biking and horses. Brand new showers, restrooms and a dishwashing area. Dogs allowed too!

I’m on Verizon and only got a single bar in the park. The library is near the entrance if you need to get your WiFi fix!

    McDowell Mountain Regional Park

    Great sites with great views!

Very quiet! Lots of hiking and bike riding trails with a bike course! Playground. Pet friendly. Very clean and friendly hosts. Close to fountain hills if you need anything in town. Close to town but very much felt like you where away on vacation no hustle bustle in the desert! The views where fantastic. Sites where clean and spacious a lot of space between each site for privacy! Will definitely be back!

    White Tank Mountain

Close to town, yet far enough away for hiking and relaxing

Another Maricopa County parks campground which is great for hiking and relaxing.

Very well taken care of. The park has beautiful hiking trails and a great nature center, which offers activities and the regional library. There are a couple of playgrounds in the park as well.

Some hiking trails are within walking distance of the campground, others you will need to drive to.  Maricopa trail runs through the park.

The campground itself is very clean, including the restrooms and showers. It is quiet and the campsites all have electric and water hookups, picnic table and fire pit. Sites are far enough from each other so it doesn't feel crowded. Not much vegetation on the campground itself, so sunshine in abundance.

    Cave Creek Regional Park

    Close to Town, Pretty Sunsets

While I prefer to be further out, sometimes it’s nice to be somewhere with all the services. I have a pretty basic self-converted camper van. Showers, dump station, electric and water hookups here. Gated at night, feels safe. Surrounded by homes but for its proximity to town its sunset views are fab. Close to a Frys and Home Depot. My onlllly reason for 4/5 stars is the surrounding homes have very noisy dogs. But overall this is pretty perfect for being so close to real life!

    Maricopa County Park Lake Pleasant

    Enjoyable time

Camped 5 nights at the desert tortoise campground in my NoBo travel trailer. Semi developed so no hook ups. Bathrooms were clean and the area was well kept. The spot includes a ramada with picnic table. There is also a fire ring pit w/ grill which you’ll need to bring firewood for. I fished off the shoreline which was only a few hundred feet from my spot. The spots are relatively close to each other and tent camping is also allowed. Water is clear and very nice. Wild donkeys from old miners back in the day still roam around. They are very accustomed to humans so won’t hesitate to steal food. Definitely something to watch pets around as well.

    Lake Pleasant Regional Park Campground

One of my favorite RV campgrounds.

I camped for 5 nights in the Roadrunner campground of Lake Pleasant.  I had a site overlooking the lake and it was fantastic.  Easy to get my 39' toy hauler in and room enough that I didn't have to unhook and could even put out my rear ramp as a deck.

Great view, easy to back in site (watch for the picnic table awning!), good power and water, no sewer (although there's a dump site nearby) and no WiFi.

    I'll definitely go back.

What to do

One visitor noted, "There are several different RV/Camping options at Pleasant Harbor Marina / RV Resort... Out on the 'flat' with just water and power (dump station on site)." Another camper recommended to "make sure to book a spot up on cliff overlooking the water. Great sunsets. Free shuttle to haul kayak to boat ramp."

It has Almost every amenity you can think of. The park is slowly being converted to all homes. 18 hole golf course on site and a bar and grill."

What campers like

Well-maintained facilities: Cleanliness ranks high on camper priorities at Wittmann area RV parks. A visitor to Desert Shadows RV Resort observed it was "Well kept, clean and friendly people." Another reviewer appreciated that "the CG is clean and 'patrolled' frequently by folks on golf carts."

Laundry amenities: Leaf Verde RV Resort receives specific praise for its laundry facilities. One camper stated, "The laundry facility was one of the nicest we've ever used!" Another mentioned, "huge laundry room" among the resort's positive attributes, which proves especially valuable for long-term stays common in the Wittmann region.

Pool access during hot months: Swimming pools provide essential relief from desert heat. A visitor to Encore Paradise RV commented, "Nice facilities (pool, laundry, etc)." At Pleasant Harbor RV Resort, a camper appreciated "Large clean spots. All spots are fenced descent pool and small store if you need anything."

What you should know

Age restrictions: Several RV parks near Wittmann enforce minimum age requirements. At Pioneer RV Resort, "you have to be over 55 to camp here" according to multiple reviewers. Similarly, at Sunflower RV Resort, a visitor noted it's a "55 and older resort. Not sure how to rate it, but it should be listed somewhere that it's not family friendly."

Site spacing considerations: Many parks feature relatively close quarters between sites. At Desert Shadows RV Resort, "The sites are gravel and fairly close together." Another camper at Leaf Verde described it as "a giant parkinglot for RV camping that is popular with Snowbirds being it is close to groceries, store fronts and I10."

Ambient noise sources: Be prepared for potential noise disruptions at certain locations. At Sundial Mobile & RV Park, a visitor reported, "There's a train that goes by at least five times a day and night and a freeway just a few blocks away. So it's not super quiet, however, the noise hasn't really bothered me either."

Tips for camping with families

Lake activities for children: Pleasant Harbor RV Resort offers water-based recreation suitable for families. One camper shared, "This was a wonderful place to camp with family and water toys!" Another mentioned, "Pool was a great bonus for our family after a long day of driving."

Pool facilities: Many children appreciate swimming options during hot weather. At Leaf Verde, a reviewer noted, "Although the sites are a bit close to each other than we prefer, the amenities were very well taken care of. The laundry facility was one of the nicest we've ever used! Pool was a great bonus for our family."

Internet connectivity for students: Some parks provide reliable connectivity for remote learning. At Pleasant Harbor, a visitor observed, "Strong WiFi. Kids were able to zoom without any issues." This makes extended stays more feasible for families with school-age children who need reliable internet access.

Tips from RVers

Site access considerations: Larger rigs should note campground layout details. At Desert Shadows RV Resort, "If you're a Class A or C towing, you'll probably have to drop to to access the hookups, as they are at the back end of the pull-throughs, not toward the middle as they usually are."

Maneuvering space: Aztec Village RV Park and other parks in the region offer varying degrees of ease for larger vehicles. At Leaf Verde, a reviewer mentioned, "Roadways are asphalt and large enough to maneuver bigger rigs through. All sites are full hook up w 30 & 50 amp electrical."

Reservation timing: Winter months create high demand for Wittmann area RV parks. At Pioneer RV Resort, it's primarily filled with "permanent residents. Tons of activities and social interaction," making advance planning essential, especially during peak season from November through March.
