Best RV Parks & Resorts near Crivitz, WI

Several RV parks near Crivitz accommodate motorhomes and travel trailers with varying amenities. Peshtigo River Campground offers full hookup sites with 50-amp service, water, and sewer connections from mid-April to mid-October. The campground features gravel pads suitable for larger rigs with picnic tables and fire rings at each site. One camper shared that "the park is beautiful and pet friendly, with sites that are private and hidden away in their own little spots." Governor Thompson State Park Campground provides electric sites with 50-amp service year-round, though the gravel pads may require leveling blocks on some sites. Northern Hideaway RV Park offers electric sites with water hookups but limited amenities, making it better suited for self-contained units.

Advance reservations are recommended during summer months and fall color season when RV sites throughout the region fill quickly. Most parks provide sanitary dump stations, though not all sites offer full hookups. Cell service varies considerably throughout the area, with better coverage near Crivitz proper and spotty reception in more remote locations. Pet policies generally allow leashed dogs, though some parks charge additional pet fees. Winter camping options are limited, with Governor Thompson State Park being one of the few year-round facilities. Propane refill services are not available at most campgrounds, requiring trips to nearby towns. A visitor commented that the roads within some parks contain unmarked speed bumps that "occasionally trip up walkers at night," so careful driving is advised.

Island Resort and Casino RV Park

Basic RV park with free shuttle to the casino

We were in Site# 14. We had electric/water with a paved pull-through. We travel towing a 14 foot trailer and were able to fit both in our pull through site along with my jeep.
The site was easy to level but the wheels of our motor home were off of the ground.

Check-in is at the hotel. The RV park is not visible from the hotel (it’s back in the woods). There is a phone at the shower house that can be used to request a free shuttle to the casino.

Our site was not shaded with limited trees. This was a smaller lot with our neighbors fairly close.

The lot comes with a picnic table and fire ring.

There was not any WiFi (we used our Starlink). They do not offer Cable TV.

There is not a community outdoor kitchen or community fire pit.

They do not provide garbage service at your site so you must walk to garbage dumpster.

They do have an indoor Swimming pool at the hotel with a sauna and steam shower.

There is not a Playground. There are not any additional play areas like Bocce ball, shuffleboard, basketball sport court, horseshoe, or volleyball courts.

They have a general store in the parking lot of the casino where you can also get gas.

There are restaurants on site in the hotel as well as a spa. The closest big town with stores is Escanaba (about 20 minutes away).

This is solely an RV park. They do not have any cabins to rent or any tent areas.

They have one shower house. The shower house has individual showers (toilets & sinks are on opposite side of shower house).

The laundry facility is located at the BP gas station (located in the parking lot of the casino/hotel). It is a cash only facility, but they have a change machine. It is approximately $2 to wash and $2 to dry a load.

They do not have a fenced in dog park. There are areas to walk dogs.

Bugs did not seem to be an issue.

Some fun things to do outside of the campground are to visit the Sandy Point Lighthouse or Ludington Park in Escanaba.

The casino is smoke-free. It states that the tables are open from 10am to 2am. Not all tables are available though (for instance, roulette wasn’t always available and if they did open up the one roulette table, it wasn’t until 6 or 7pm). The slot machine options are abundant.

    Dovetail Acres Campground

    Relatively New RV Campground

Convenient to Sister Bay in Door County, Wisconsin. Off of WI Hwy 57. Large open field. 27 pull-through RV sites are equipped to handle the biggest RV’s by providing 34′ x 75′ sites. 33 back-in RV sites. 10 walk in tent sites. Pets welcome - $5/day pet fee. New restrooms & showers. No cell service, but very good free WiFi service. Clean campsites, well maintained. No privacy between sites. Gravel driveways. Picnic table. Fire ring. Convenience store & gas station on site - Dovetail Trading Company & Citgo gas station. Registration in store. Accepts reservations. Campground was still open on Oct 23, 2021, even though it's season ended on Oct 18. This is a good campground for RVs. I camped here when I couldn't find another campground that had available sites. I thought it was overpriced for camping in my camper van with no hookups needed, but it was okay in a pinch.

    Camping in the Clouds

    Friendly staff but very rustic

Overall our stay was pleasant the campground is very rustic facilities on premise could definitely use some TLC. We stayed in a pull through site which was decent. Campground overall was very quiet mainly seasonal or long term sites.

    Baileys Woods Campground

    Peaceful and quiet

General: Baileys Woods lives up to its name – it is a very wooded campground, which provides reasonable separation between the sites. I was surprised that it was not full during the week in June, which made it even more quiet and peaceful. When we reserved, we paid for one night and then paid the balance just prior to arrival. We were greeted warmly and given a map of the campground. There is a 5mph speed limit posted throughout and many speed bumps to enforce this. My only concern is that they were not marked and blended into the road and while this should not be a concern if you are driving the 5mph, they did occasionally trip me up while walking (especially at night) or if you are crazy like me, running laps around the campground.

Site Quality/Facilities: Gravel pads that are all level; most are back-in, but a few are pull-through. You will hear road noise at some of the sites on the perimeter, but it was minimal. Our site in the interior was very quiet with the sound of birds chirping the only noise we could hear. There is a small picnic table and fire ring at each site. Some sites are electric only; some water and electric and some are tent sites.

Bathhouse: There are two bathhouses at either end of the campground, and both were very clean. Both have showers and one has laundry. Nice hot water and hubby reported the water pressure was good in his, but I found it a little wimpy in the women’s shower. There are also two porta-potties, one for women and men; they are cleaned weekly on Monday and were clean when we were there (at least the women’s was).

Activities/Amenities: There is a nice playground. Showers and laundry available. Firewood and ice are available on the honor system – you pay when you leave but since we were there for a nearby family reunion, we did not use either of these amenities. As for activities, not much to do at the campground but there is so much to do in Door County from hiking and kayaking to wine tasting and shopping.

When we lived in the area, we used to take day trips here in all seasons and now we enjoy visiting all our favorite haunts when we are back in the area on a road trip. Baileys Woods (on the quiet side of Door) was a nice base place to do this from. The only things keeping this from a five-star review are the unmarked speed bumps and the incredibly thin toilet paper which basically disintegrated in my hands (we are used to this in state and national parks but hoped for better quality in a private campground).

    O. B. Fuller Campground

On the shores of Lake Michigan

You could drive by and miss this little gem. Beautifully kept up county park with clean shower house. Pet friendly, they even have a hitching post for your pet while visiting the bathrooms. On site hosts.

All sites are within a short walking distance of the beach and some are right on the beach. Site L1 had a good mix of beach and woods. Near the beach is a small playground for the kids.

    Wagon Trail Campground

    Greaet family campground

General: Pride of ownership is evident throughout the campground and there are many different types of accommodations: tent, electric and water, (including some classified as prime), full hook-up, cabins, and yurts. There are also seasonal sites and travel trailer rentals. This campground was as busy as I would expect for Door County in the summer. We checked in at the well-staffed office (open until 9 pm) at which time our site was assigned.

Site Quality/Facilities: Since there are so many different kinds of sites, they vary greatly. Our non-hookup site (#104) had an L-shaped driveway which was just a bit awkward to back our campervan into but not impossible. This site would not have been suitable for a large RV. Some of the tent sites in this loop (#111-113) were called “hideaway” tent sites as they had very long driveways and more privacy. Many of the sites are wooded and there is varying separation between sites but more than adequate. The premium sites have the most privacy and many of these have no one behind them.

Bathhouse: There are two bathhouses, and each is closed for a two-hour period each day. They were immaculate (possibly the cleanest campground bathrooms I have ever seen!). The shower, while a bit on the small side, had nice hot water and plenty of hooks to hang clothes and toiletries. They were clean.

Activities/Amenities: The campground itself has much to offer: playground, recreation area with volleyball net, laundry, dishwashing station, fish cleaning station, recreation room with pool table and arcade games, lounge with fireplace, couches, and books, a camp store, and doggie stations. A couple of hiking trails lead from the campground, including one to Grandma’s Swedish Bakery (highly recommend at least one visit). Nearby kayak and SUP rentals. There is much to do in Door County for active and less active pursuits; this campground is located on the quiet side of the peninsula, but it does not take long to drive to other activities.

This is not our typical type of campground. We used to live within two hours of the northern part of the Door Peninsula, so we only took day trips here; camping here is new to us but we are enjoying exploring many different options.

    O. B. Fuller Campground

    Quiet, clean

Nice little county campground on lake Michigan. Sandy Beach. Clean bathrooms and showers, and a small laundry facility. Electric and water on each site. Dump station is available for registered campers. Sites are large, not crowded. Mixture of short term campers and long term locals. On site host, not a party spot.
