        Lake Wissota State Park Campground

        Lots to do!

NE of Chippewa Falls, offers secluded campsites, hiking, biking and horseback riding trails, picnic and playground areas and a swimming beach on a man-made lake. Boating, canoeing, kayaking and water skiing are popular summer activities on the lake. Showers and flush toilets in the campground. Firewood for sale at the park office. Picnic table and fire ring at each site. Sites are wooded and fairly secluded.

        Quiet in late October.

I just stayed here one night because I was passing through the area. It worked out really well. I entered the campground late in the day. It was almost dark. They had a QR code that I used to make a reservation on the spot. I had a great night there. There's a hiking trail that completely goes around the campground. So I was able to walk my dog on that. I'm not sure how it would have been to stay as a vacation Target spot. Probably pretty fine. But it certainly was great on the shoulder season for a stopover.

        Beautiful in the fall

This is a smaller Corps of Engineers park, lots of primitive sites and lots electric sites too. A smaller lake but no gas motors. Cell service with Verizon was ok.

        Nice views clean camp ground

We are passing through off highway 94 needed a place to park the camper for the night. We pulled in on Saturday over Labor Day weekend and the campground is only half full so this is a great spot for those folks just passing by. Guaranteed to have an opening.

Campground is on a peninsula so bugs are bad at night. Paved roads and nice grass. Shower facilities are older but clean. There is a lighted park for kids to play at night and plenty of fishing.

Also they have 20-30-50amp hook ups with a dump and water

        Clean and relatively quiet

Lots of RV campers, but none were obnoxious. T-mobile service is almost non-existent depending on location. The showers and bathrooms were spotless. Firewood is available at several roadside stands just outside the entrance.

        Morris Erickson County Park

        Small campground

Well used county park on a nice clear lake. The sites are close together with little privacy and close to the road which is noisy during the morning and evening but quiets down at night. Lots of kids! Nice to see families camping and having fun! Swimming, fishing, riding bikes, playground. Clean bathrooms (at least the women’s). Not our cup of tea but fine for a one night stopover. Loons calling at night and in the morning!

        Beautiful

Really enjoyed the experience! It’s beautiful and good mix of quiet and lots of activity’s. Can tube down the creek, very shallow so even littles can do it too. Site 133 was super small, so much so I thought he was kidding. Saw site 204 was open and switched to that one instead. Dogs welcome which was super nice!

        Very nice Apple river camping

In June 2024 we had a one day primitive spot on sperry lane you can drive over a tight steel bridge “crossing a small creek. There’s only 3 sites here but are spacious and separated from the rest of the campground but still having walking distance to exceptional bathroom and showers which you can enter into a bar for a cocktail. We enjoyed our spot #3 but bring mosquito spray there were terrible but we had a screened tent which helped. Will definitely return again.

        Cozy campground with water focus

Enjoyed this island campground. There is a RV focused and a tent focused camping loops. This is a nice location for fisherman and kayaks/canoes. There are a few hiking trails that are loaded with mosquitoes (given the location and amount of water). There is a small beach to play in the water, playground and ball field. The bathrooms are nicely kept but dated. Great location to go with kids.

        Amazingly well kept and clean

We’re new to camping and we had no idea what to expect. I thought campgrounds would be loud, but this place is so peaceful. Even with kids running around and having fun. There are plenty of activities to keep our kids occupied. There was a craft fair on Saturday morning we went to. My teen loved searching for “moose antlers”. I think he searched the entire park. The park is well kept and clean. Money well spent here. We even got to see the northern lights our first night here.

        Great!

Great camp site, the ground was a little rocky so it was a little difficult to get the stakes in but we were able to get them in. Hiking trail right next to the campsite. Bathrooms and showers are nearby as well. Great place to stay!

Best state park I’ve been to!

Stayed here on a east/west camping trip. Beautiful state park. Sites are shaded and large. Big enough that we were able to tie out 2 large dogs each on 30 ft leads. The park has a bicycle path that walkers can also use that’s along the river. Our site backed up to the bicycle path with the river behind us. Great place to walk. Staff and hosts very friendly and helpful. Don’t be alarmed when you drive by a school and housing area to get to it! The park also has an off leash dog park. I wasn’t able to check that out though but have wished state parks would consider adding. Bathrooms extremely clean with the best state park showers Ive ever used (and I mostly camp at state parks across the US). If I get back to this area I would definitely camp here again.

        Quiet, clean SP

We camped here the end of August. When I booked our site the state park website showed it as the only available site for our 4 day stay. So we booked the 4th night at a different site, same park. However, no one ever came into the original site. We also noticed this occurred with some other sites that were vacant during our entire stay. I’m sure not the parks fault. In state folks (we are out of state so paid more) don’t mind the cancellation fee or book way out and then change. Very frustrating when you have to move your camper for one night. Staff very nice. Flush toilets and bathhouse very clean. Showers with hot water and good water pressure. Sites are wooded and good size. Only complaint is the dirt base all around the campsites (very little grass due to the shade). We are from VA and most state parks have gravel pads. Nice walking trails. Didn’t see the picnic/swim area as dogs weren’t allowed anywhere there. They do have one fishing kayak. Not very good for shore fishing. Not thrilled with site #6 but site #22 was great with a nice view of the lake.

        Gem!

This park had lots of old tree coverage. The site we had was secluded enough from others. But they had sites available that were open to each other good for groups. They say on the description which are linked together. Nice clean facilities. Saw they had an outdoor theater which we didn’t see in action because we weren’t there tell almost 10pm and someone was still in the office. Nice grass trails. Looked like a decent playground.

        Relax in the Woods

There are tons of sites across three loops, spaced apart with picnic tables, fire pits, and plenty of room. Most sites are level– we were only staying one night and didn’t even need to unhook our pickup. The lake is very close with a trail to a beach and dock. The bathrooms have flush toilets and showers. We didn’t have our ATVs with us, but the trails looked like narrow gravel roads. It wasn’t busy– on a Thursday in July only about¼ of the sites were taken. We had one bar on Verizon.
