**What to Expect? ** ​***"The Experience"***? It is just that. You can expect fine bed linen, a comfy electric heated blanket, scented candles, a spa-like ambiance, a heated wood-burning stove, various textures pleasing to the touch and eyes; and quiet with superb customer service.

​***The 16' heated tent ***and the open communal area are where you'll spend the majority of your time either lying on the hammock with a throw next to the fire pit, sitting on the Adirondack chairs, playing corn hole, soaking in the hot tub, or staying inside listening to the rain while lying in bed and enjoying the sounds of the blue jays and crickets in a heated tent. There is a cute small refrigerator to store a few cans of soda or bottled water, a tea kettle to make your own coffee/tea/hot chocolate, a French press (coffee, creamer, and sugar provided) an electric double-burner to make a light breakfast, warm popcorn, etc. The Master Suite tent will include one Queen size bed covered with a Queen egg crate foam topper and may be draped in a well-fitted microfiber sheet set or 1500 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets, to make your sleeping experience like a fancy hotel in Times Square (you know the one with one letter).

Be advised there is a camera in the courtyard/tent area overlooking the courtyard and a motion sensor for added security on the premises, and the train track is a few blocks away and you will hear it at some point during your stay (typically 2000-2200 hours) but it adds a rural country feel along with the crickets orchestrating the woodsy sound.

WCRC is a [non-profit Christian retreat center and overnight Christian summer camp](https://www.wcrc.info/) perfect for youth groups, church retreats, small groups, family reunions, and other gatherings in Toano, Virginia. WCRC welcomes church groups, summer day camps, and couples marriage retreats to our facility for fun, team building, and a place to explore. Williamsburg Christian Retreat Center provides a place for the Holy Spirit to work in the lives of kids and adults through camping and retreats. 

  

In the early 1980s, members of the area Mennonite churches became concerned with the spiritual needs of youth. They found that young people were often making their professions of faith at church camps, so they decided to build a camp facility in the Tidewater area of Virginia that would offer opportunities for young people to begin a relationship with Jesus Christ and grow in their walk with God. 

  

WCRC offers modern comfortable lodging, great food, and fun activities for day trips and overnight retreats. WCRC also has dedicated conference areas for groups needing their own space. The place where the first permanent British colony in mainland North America was founded in 1607, Virginia is a state with an exceptional history and abundant natural attractions. From colonial towns and Revolutionary and Civil War battlefields to various Presidential Homes, including one that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, history is never far away when camping in Virginia. Nature, too, is an intricate part of Virginia’s state identity.


On the coast, you’ll find several state parks and wildlife refuges. Additionally, there are significant historic sites such as Colonial National Historical Park, which includes Historic Jamestown and the Yorktown Battlefield.
Across Chesapeake Bay, a calm wave-less bay, lie popular Cape Charles and glorious Assateague Island National Seashore with its feral horses galloping along the beaches. All around Chesapeake Bay, extensive sand beaches and shallow water attract huge crowds of sunbathers and families camping in Virginia over Summer break.


More inland, rolling vineyards and horse farms characterize the Monticello American Viticultural Area, while the beauty of the Shenandoah Valley and Blue Ridge Mountains to the west has been praised in many a country song. It’s in this region, with its undulating forested hills, rocky outcrops, countless waterfalls and rich biodiversity, that you’ll want to go camping in Virginia.


Shenandoah National Park, protecting a section of the Blue Ridge Mountains’ crest, is an outdoor playground for hikers, cyclists, wildlife watchers and road trippers alike. The only road through the park is Skyline Drive, a world-class mountain road lined with trails, campgrounds, a couple of historic lodges, and more than 70 overlooks.


At the park’s southern entrance, Skyline Drive links up with the equally scenic Blue Ridge Parkway. Connecting Shenandoah with Great Smoky Mountains National Park in North Carolina, its 469 miles make it the longest linear park in America. From historic homesteads and the Blue Ridge Music Center to viewpoints, hiking trails and waterfalls like Crabtree Falls, its numerous attractions, combined with free access, make this the most visited unit in the entire National Park Service system.


Other great destinations for camping in Virginia are the Allegheny Highlands, home to natural hot springs, and Grayson Highlands State Park featuring rock-strewn mountain meadows, panoramic vistas and wild ponies.

This is an exclusive Tentrr Signature campsite. Tentrr partners with land owners to offer unique accommodations in beautiful outdoor spaces. Our campsites are off-the-grid which means they generally do not have access to electricity, wifi, or modern plumbing. Instead, they offer the chance to relax, unplug, and fully experience nature! 

Your Tentrr campsite includes a 10'x12' (120 square feet) safari-style canvas tent on a raised wooden platform. Inside the tent you'll find one queen bed with a memory foam mattress. The tent is big enough for the bed plus one or two extra sleeping bags on the floor. Aside from the canvas tent, campers can also use the extra 5-person pop-up dome tent that___s provided. You'll also have a 6-ft picnic table, outdoor fire pit, and 2 Tentrr Adirondack chairs.

Max Occupancy: This refers to the total number of campers allowed onsite with your reservation. 

Toilets: Every campsite is equipped with a camp toilet (we call it the Tentrr Loo). This is a simple wooden box with a toilet seat and a bucket inside. To use, line the bucket with a CleanWaste Sani-Bag supplied at the camp prior to use. Afterwards, simply tie the bag up and place it in a trash bag. CleanWaste Sani-Bags use a NASA-developed gelling/deodorizing agent that helps prevent spills and keeps everyone safe and clean.

Showers: Every Signature campsite comes with a Coleman Sun Shower. The sun shower has a reservoir that holds up to 5 gallons of water, potentially enough for multiple showers. It's constructed of heat-locking material that warms the water when it's left in the sun, even on cool days.

Interaction with Guests:
Upon check out, you should leave-no-trace of your stay and be sure your campsite is returned to its natural glory! While Tentrr does not charge a cleaning fee, we do expect campsites to be left how they were found. After you check out, take everything you brought in and be sure to leave your trash at the designated location.

If a Tentrr Host submits an incident report after your stay that details evidence of trash or damage to the campsite or the host's property, Tentrr reserves the right to charge a minimum cleaning fee of $50. Just make sure to follow the Camper Manual posted at your campsite and you'll be set!

Reservation Modifications/Cancellations: Please note the terms of the cancelation policy as they are outlined in your confirmation email. Your Tentrr Host is unable to change or cancel your reservation on your behalf, and they are unable to waive any cancellation fees (if applicable). Other Things to Note:
We currently offer one luxurious tent equipped with all the necessary amenities, and we are in the process of planning to add more. For groups, you are welcome to bring your own tents. Tentrr Signature Site - Mystical Acres Farm

A new regulation (4VAC15-20-155) effective January 1, 2021 makes it unlawful to camp on Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) without written authorization. Written authorization establishes a starting and ending date for each camping trip. In case of emergency, written authorizations also provide the Department with a list of campers who are expected to be occupying a WMA and who may need assistance. https://dwr.virginia.gov/wp-content/uploads/media/wma-rules.pdf

Camping is primitive, temporary and dispersed. There are no established campsites and no amenities (electric, potable water, dump stations, restrooms, convenience stations).

The Chickahominy Wildlife Management Area is the only DWR management area in the coastal plain that consists mainly of woodlands and is managed primarily for upland wildlife rather than wetland species. This type of management, coupled with the area’s location along a major tidal river and creek, gives this Charles City County area a variety of habitat types that is unique to the Department’s Wildlife Management Area system. A sighting-in range located at the WMA provides hunters a place to hone their skills. 

The management area gains its name from the Chickahominy River which forms the area’s eastern boundary. To the south, Morris Creek flows through the area and then along its southern boundary. Other smaller tidal creeks and marshy guts cut into the forests to provide additional wetland diversity. The upland, though mainly wooded with mixed hardwood and pine stands, also features cultivated, mowed and “old field” openings. The area’s 5,217 acres are contiguous although there are some interior, private properties. Nearly level, elevations range from about 25 to 50 feet.
