Short stay

We stayed one night while traveling. Some spots appeared flooded but ours was not. Park appeared well kept.

Typical KOA

If looking for a place to stay near Richmond with full reliable hook-ups this would service that need. Other then a pool on site and close proximity to Kings Dominion Park.

This is your typical KOA campground. Tight sites and no frills.

Fine KOA, but watch out for fees

Unlike the campgrounds at other cedar fair properties, the Kings Dominion Campground is managed by KOA rather than the park itself. It's a perfectly fine park, friendly staff, well kept, good amenities, and there's a free shuttle running to and from the park. My only complaint and the reason this is only 4 stars is because they'll charge you an extra $20 for early check in, which is required if you want to go to the theme park at opening. Otherwise check in is at 2pm, well after the park gates are open and the lines have gotten longer.

Clean facility close to Theme Park

The most convenient campground in proximity to Kings Dominion. Clean bathrooms, well maintained. Recommend the raised platform for folks with tents if it rains as the video will show.

Great Amenities!

This is such a great campground. It’s close to the interstate and super close to Kings Dominion theme park. There’s a free shuttle all day to/from Kings Dominion which made it nice so the teens could come and go as they please. The pool was very nice and the playground for younger kids was very popular from the looks of it. Our site was level and had a nice grassy area with trees for the hammocks. Staff was super friendly!!

Horrible Experience.

Not only have we been lied to, but we were left at kings dominion for 4 hours while the shuttles refused to come back and get not only my family but also all the other family’s. They left us there until 2 in the morning. We had to walk from kings dominion to the campsite in groups to get back to our sites. They’re were little children freezing as the temperature was 40 degrees outside. The driver of one of the shuttles claimed “ it wasn’t her problem” and another stated her boss Rob Joyce was the one who made the call to leave all roughly 50/60 of us there in the freezing cold with no other options. The shuttles were all waiting at the camp store, sitting in the buses, talking and tried to leave as the group showed up. Our site has crappy cable, no internet, and the electrical hookups are on the wrong side for half of the campsites. Our neighbors had to park over there sewer dump to make their campsite work since they’re electrical hookup is right in the middle of their site. They do not enforce the rules. People play music into the morning hours, people walk straight through your campsite, and they’re is no overnight/day security that they claim they have.

A Good Overnight Stop

This place is a perfect stop for us on the way down south from Pennsylvania. Their pull-through site are perfectly sized. The campground is well-maintained and clean. This place makes it convenient to pull in, get your rest, and go. I’m sure it would be a great place to stay at to visit King’s Dominion as well! (we just haven’t used it for that reason yet!)

Clean

Clean campground, friendly staff. Somewhat tight spots. Stayed for a week or so, not a bad place to be, quiet.

Good Location for 95 travels

We stayed as we traveled south on 95. Kings Dominion is still closed so the park is very quiet. They are following covid protocols with masks and temperature checks. The pool was perfect for a quick dip and the park was clean- lots of garbage cans and all the staff were friendly and helpful.

Wooded Lots

Due to Covid and the proximity to a temporarily closed King’s Dominion this campground was very quiet. We enjoyed a larger pull through lot that faced the woods. Some of the sites look pretty tight, but that can be common with a lot of KOA’s.

Good campground

We stayed during the covid pandemic when things were just starting to open back up, so the play grounds weren’t available. The bathrooms are clean and the laundry facility is a plus. They also have a dog park which we used a ton. Most spots are shaded and there are paved and gravel roads. The spaces are very snug so forget privacy when they’re busy, but at the time we were the only ones on our little road. The store is super pricey, but overall a good campground.

Great first stay at the Center of the Universe!

This was our 1st stay in our brand new RV, and the staff was great with all our questions. The section we stayed in was winterized so we had a spot in the woods all to ourselves, which was magical. The bath house was clean and the showers were hot. One fun surprise, Ashland is referred to as "the center of the universe" by its residents. Being big astronomy buffs, we felt we pick the perfect place for our first experience 🌌

Great location

Just recently stayed here during a weekend getaway to Kings Dominion. Nice and peaceful campground from what I could tell. Did not go through entire park during this stay. Clean grounds and nice shower houses. Friendly staff in the check in center. One convenient option that comes with staying is they have a shuttle service to the amusement park that runs by roughly every 25-30 mins. They even run until 12-1 in the morning for those who plan to do the Haunt the park has during the Fall/Halloween season. Not close to a lot of restaurants but within 10 miles of a nice selection of stores/restaurants

A short stay campground

We needed a place just for the night so it worked out, but I wouldn't choose to stay for any length of time. Thats partly because we like campgrounds that are more woodsy and don't have cement slab sites. It was very clean, with plenty of available trash barrels and very clean bathrooms. There was a train somewhere nearby which will wake up a light sleeper. We were surprised that the pool was 1/2 empty and had dirty water. They did have shuttle service to the nearby amusement park.

FAMILY FRIENDLY

This is a great place for families with children, young and old! Kid friendly biking around the park. Also saw many with electric scooters and golf carts. Large playground and pool, all very clean and well kept. From what I observed, the sites were all pretty level. Close to the Interstate so made it great for a one night stay.

Great KOA!!!

We stayed in October! The sites were large and level. Easy on and off to I-95 N/S. Staff was great! This was our first KOA where they didn't "guide" us to our site. No worries... we made it :) Great for an overnight (if you want hookups)
