Thousand Trails Chesapeake Bay

Thousand Trails operates this year-round campground on Virginia's Northern Neck, where the Chesapeake Bay meets inland waterways. The resort spreads across both forested and open terrain, offering full hookup sites for RVs along with tent camping areas that include electric and water connections. Annual site holders occupy many of the waterfront locations, while transient campers find spots throughout the property's varied landscape.

The campground provides direct water access through its own crabbing pier, with some sites backing directly against the water. Kristina D. notes the facility is "very clean quiet at night," though site proximity means campers typically get to know their neighbors. Activities include mini golf, a playground, outdoor pool, and hiking opportunities, though biking trails are limited according to visitor reports.

Road conditions within the campground can be challenging, with potholes mentioned in reviews. The property includes an on-site store, cafe, and dog park for pet owners. Some campers report inconsistent utility service, while others praise the maintenance standards under current management. Quiet hours are enforced, creating a more restful atmosphere than in previous years.

For additional camping options in the region, visitors can explore campgrounds around Saluda. The campground accepts reservations and welcomes both RVs seeking full hookups and tent campers looking for electric and water access in a group-friendly setting.

Another stay at Chesapeake

Love this campground. Great people and staff, well maintained sites. T-mobile gateway internet sucks here, but Starlink works well from the site we are in. Level sites and they all have full hookups.

Not for families or anyone else

Annuals run the place and take up the most desirable sites. Other sites are unlevel and muddy. Coreen, Donna and other management and rangers are grumpy and less than helpful. Many rules obviously being broken are ignored, including large dogs not on leads, children running around unsupervised, fences being put up around rugs next to trailers, large refrigerators up around trailers, campers being parked and left for days at a time in order to save the spot for themself for the weekend, excessive alchole use while driving golf carts, so many golf carts. Requiring golf carts being electric by Management but they still use gas powered everything including lawn mowers. Water, electricity, and the pool do not work consistently. They have an excuse for everything there. Bad pot holes in roads. RV’s being washed by a business advertised there and spray getting on others property and cars. Noisy. Putt putt and other amenities in disrepair.

RV park near Mathews VA

This is a nice park. My first time with Thousand Trails and it’s odd that you pick your spot once you get there. They were trying online check in but it didn’t work. Very clean quiet at night. This is a huge campground and lots to see and do.

Nice park in Gloucester

Great park! Much better than last year. It’s mite relaxes and you can actually rest and enjoy nature. They have New management. Employees are great; servicial and respectful. Quiet hours are being respected now. Lots of annual sites; they’re scattered around the park for the most part. 50/30 amp full hook ups. Large tent area with electric and water if you want to be in groups.

Very Nice

This is the first time we have camped at this Thousand Trails RV Resort and we were pleasantly surprised. Beautiful campground that is well maintained. This campground is very family oriented and offers an abundance of activities for children and adults alike. It is also pet friendly and offers a dog park for your furry friends. We will definitely be back!!

Like a camping community

Spots are close together so you will get to meet your neighbors if they are there. You can rent yearly spots if you want. Some spots back up against the water. It has a pier, pond, river access, ice cream shop/store, cafe. There aren’t a lot of trails to bike but it does have putt putt, a playground, outdoor pool, indoor hot tub(not functional while we were there).
